I want to nominate myself, but I don't have any good videos, and haven't got a chance to play Twilight yet.
._.

There's only like 5 or 6 decent Kirbys in my area, but I'm known as the best in this part of SoCal (i.e. Orange County).
I got 2nd at a tourney with 64 people.

Id definitely be willing to add you. Getting 2nd is not something you can make up in SoCal w/o 30+ people calling you a liar. But just to be on the safe side, do you happen to have just a thread showing your results, or just showing you participated?

If this list was top 25 Kirby's. I know I'd be on that. lol. Top 10 is a long hard road to get to. But I never really know until I enter a offline tournament with him.
Before I was thinking, I should try ranked online matches before entering a tournament and if I place high on the list, I'll enter a tournament. But then I realized, most of the people that are at the top of the ladder have characters that do the best with lag, or they have bad internet connection and somehow they are used to it, while your not. So, I guess I should try to go to a tournament even though I dont rank the highest on the ladder.

online is just a very different setting, it requires more skill to play offline than online, by far and nobody say knowing button lag is a skill. :p

I'll have some videos up today. They're not tourney matches or anything...but they're videos nonetheless.

That is correct. Playing online is fun at times, but i wouldnt judge your ability to play well at tourneys based on how you do on an online one. You wont really know unless...you actually go to a few. Im terrible online for example, every1 on Gamebattles usually destroys me w/ spam, but i usually rank first-third in my city at our tourneys(not saying much, but just giving an example. >.>)

Thats a good example. I had the wrong mindset for a while. At first I thought offline matches would be harder than online matches but its the other way around.

If I read that right, you claimed to better than tons of other people that go to tourneys when you yourself dont go to them.

Are you ****ing kidding me? Until you start placing high in tourneys, you cant claim anything. :/

Lol I love how everyone believes online skill =/= to your offline skill.

You all really believe that you can be good online but suck offline?

So a person like me,who's been playing smash for about 10 years, plays nothing but online brawl nowadays,I would do worse offline?

I've found that even though I play mostly online brawl,I still win almost every tourney hosted around here.

You'd really let someone who isn't as good as you beat you online because of button lag?

lol @ this

Some people play off of their opponents. Therefore exact timing on dodges, super-shielding, and air-dodging is part of their playstyle as well. Unfortunately, online play for the most part requires too much improvision on how fast you need to press a button to do these things accurately. Although your argument is very valid and understandable.

No, lol @ you.

I live in Florida and I'm familiar with the Florida tourney scene and I can sure as hell say that you've never won any Florida tourney that has mattered. Hell, I've never even heard of you.

I think you misunderstood, I personally dont think I'm the top 10 best Kirby's, but "guessing" I'm part of the top 25 good Kirby's in the U.S. I'm just talking about with Kirby, not every character in the game. And yes, I will start going to live tournaments, if I'm able to get the day off work, or if I get a new job where I wont have to work on saturday. I finally have vacation time that I can use up. :)

what a **** thing to say. are you proud of yourself?

one last thing i would like to ask. why do so many of the people considered the "top players" refuse to play online? Just out of curiosity, not trying to call anyone out.

I live in boynton beach Florida where a game stop on congress, the nexus at our arcade, and another game stop in lantana has had tourneys from time to time.

Nexus holds tourneys weekly, don't know if they still do.

Feel free to look them up buddy.I don't travel all over the state trying to find a brawl tournament which is why I participate in SOME of the local ones.Tournament scene for Brawl in palm beach isn't big at all which is why I play brawl almost exclusively online.

The Nexus is really the only place in town where tournaments are held frequently for brawl. So most of the people who get there are no pushovers.

I don't care if you've heard of me or not. There's plenty of good players you have never heard of but they are still out there. You can be a known smasher, and still not even be that good.If I had the time and money and I really wanted to actually compete in a large scale brawl tourney,I would drive to compete in it.I'm not trying to become a nation wide brawl superstar,i'm just another guy looking for a good challenge.

You don't even have to compete to get recognition. If I had recording equipment,I'd simply post a bunch of matches on here and people would know me.

You act like you know every tournament that goes on in FL.Sorry but there are smaller, local tournaments that do occur.

We should play sometime.

Aw man, theres not enough in MI, just only in Friendlies and such. D: Everyone chooses G&W or Wolf around here. =/

Since I got a new job, I can get the equipment to post my match on youtube/veoh finally. :D

T41 - Dark Kakashi ?
T41 - Spoon ?
T41 - TheBlueBlade ?
T41 - Este ?
Things to note:
-I beat Tink in pools (by getting lucky XD), he lost with Ike and G&W once, and won with G&W once. I came in 3rd of 5 in my pools, he came in 1st. I was his only loss in pools... I think he just underestimated me, and made too many mistakes (like suiciding with G&W's dair, for example). I was also told by a source I can't assume is right that he was once in the top 5 of Melee..

-I can't beat Anther or Overswarm in a moneymatch, though I can get them to one stock. I picked Pirate Ship against OS's MK because I thought it might be good...and then he just stayed in the water in front of the ship. I was wondering why until I went after him, and he daired me directly into the shipspike. I was like wtf -_- but yeah they're both incredibly good. I 2 stocked Anther's Sonic :p

-Anther is the man.

-I could NOT beat Sliq's Bowser. wtf?? Or Dr. X's Pit.

-Smash64 beat me 2-0 in the first round of brackets...his Ness is too good. Videos of me getting owned later. You'll learn how to sit there as PK Flash approaches and kills you :D

-I managed to barely beat Iggy in loser's bracket, and I was told he was like rly rly good in Melee. I lost to his MK first round, beat his Fox next round (Pirate Ship cannons killing him twice ftw) and barely beat his MK third round. He counterpicked Halberd for some reason.

-Big C's Snake beat me afterward in loser's bracket, using ALMOST SOLELY ftilt and utilt. It made me sad. I counterpicked Rainbow Cruise, he switched to Dedede in that match, and I managed to beat him, barely.

-YBM beat me 2-1 in close Kirby dittos in pools...he used a wiimote. o_O wtf mate? It was close though, I swear.

-Legan's Link is awesome. He beat me in friendlies, I wish I had a chance to play him more and record.

-PrincessAura is a girl.

-I randomly met Mr. E and partnered with him in doubles...we were team "Beep!" (ROB + Kirby ftw) we did alright XD .. we did quite well considering I just met him, and I have almost no team experience.

-Jekyll's Ganondorf is amazing o_o I easily beat him 2-0 in pools, but that's mostly because Ganondorf is Kirby food. Before pools, I watched him trash a guy that used Meta Knight and Snake.

-I also destroyed a Dedede that beat me last tournament. But he didn't even enter this one...he just played doubles. He doesn't really play Brawl anymore.

That's about all I can think of. Thinkaman recorded a TON of matches with his laptop, some of which are me against Anther. Hopefully he uploads some :)

Summary of my matches, in pools and brackets, against:
Ike: 1-0
G&W: 1-1
Falco: 0-2
Kirby: 1-2
Ganondorf: 2-0
Ness: 0-2
MK: 1-1
Fox: 1-0
Dedede: 1-0
Snake: 0-2

Hey timmy, do you have new videos?
The last time any of my matches were recorded was a local tourney up in Portland that I attended. It was just me & t0mmy in finals, though I have to say the matches were highly entertaining. I don't know if they'll ever be uploaded, though.

Lol @ that

If you main Kirby your a kirby player...

I hate it when people like you act like playing online really alters the skill of players.

This so called button lag can't stack up against an offline match yes.

However, the button lag isn't even hardly enough to justify online matches as "not serious".I'm sure all of you have played lag free matches in which you probably haven't even noticed button lag.The button lag in lag free games isn't enough to help a noob over come a pro.It really isn't.

Even in games where button lag is more noticeable, the better player should win.If you lose, don't complain about the lag because you chose to sit through a match with massive input lag and visual lag.

If online was as bad as your trying to make it seem,no one would ever host online tourneys. There wouldn't be a crap load of tourneys going up every day on AiB.People wouldn't bother playing ranked matches on different brawl sites with ranking systems. No one would even attempt to create a competitive online clan who competes against other clans.

I prefer offline over online for serious matches and such yes.Offline provides real time matches which means alot less johning and a person who might not be fully adjusted to button lag, will get the opportunity to play at his or her best.

Don't sit up here and act like online is a serious game changing factor though. Most of you need to get your own opinion and stop acting like a bunch of sheep and following the crowd that says "online doesn't count" and "who takes online seriously?".

If there was no online there would be millions of crying fan boys. Before brawl there was so much talk about the competitive smash scene exploding.Online tourneys, clans, etc. Now online isn't a serious thing. It's a thing that you just play to get some casual matches in and some lulz.

Give me a break.

Also props Asdioh, looks like you had some nice competition.

Thanks. I agree that online is good in its own right, but the very reason I did so poorly in this tournament is because I have nobody to play offline. It is DEFINITELY different in some aspects. I mean, teching is impossible online, and some attacks are more effective online. Campy Snakes are hard to beat online, but easier offline. Ftilting/uptilting Snakes are hard to beat anywhere XD

Meta Knight is a crap chunk

Campy snakes are hard to beat period lol

You have no friends to beat up on offline?I use to have a bunch back on melee, but since then everyone's moved away.I only got 1 guy i brawl with from time to time offline, trying to meet some other people at school who have the game who claim they are the best.

Considering how amazingly active the Florida scene is compared to the rest of the Atlantic South, I don't think anyone there should be complaining about lack of people to play or tournaments to go to. Maybe you can't play other people if you don't have access to a car or someone that can drive you or if your parents are extremely overprotective.

http://www.smashboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=89

Go to Regional Zones, find your region, find your state/area's thread, post, find other people to play and tournaments to go to.

Also, I love how derailed this thread got because everyone thinks their Kirby is boss. :D

ChuDat and that guy from Canada that I forgot his name (Percon maybe) are the only Kirby players with accomplishments that matter.

Yah, thats basically what this thread has always promoted...

ron561 I can say that online doesn't count all i want because it really doesn't

And yes the input delay is that bad. You can play ssb64 online with as low as 2 frames of delay in comparison to brawl where the average is prolly 20-25 frames of delay. Brawl delay is stunningly terrible and is very much skill altering. I've lost to plenty of people online where I can almost guarantee you I'd 2 stock them everytime on console.

Until online brawl can get rid of input delay (which is impossible) and starts hosting tourneys for money it really won't matter at all.
