Re-Release DQ8 cowards

Man I need to make progress on DQ8 but time, new games and stress have kept me from playing for a while. I did actually mod the game because **** Sugiyama, I'll be damned if I have to hear an inferior version of the one good ost in the series so far

I really hope this will be the end of the garbage midis, it was so bad with OG DQ11 to the point that I wouldn't blame people for putting down the game because of how horrendous the Fisher Price soundfont was for that game. The ost itself was rather weak compared to the rest of the series (the best tracks were the ones that came from the previous games), but the midis tank the experience to the point that the game is near unplayable. The midi battle theme is on par with the Resident Evil Director's Cut basement.

It's had it for as long as I can remember. Issue is, the way the site's structured in regards to what the staff's allowed to do, and the low amount of staff is a one two punch.

Just discovered that Egg Console released the original Popful Mail on Switch today. I know that I'll be barely able to play it as it's in full Japanese, but I really appreciate the effort. It's the first time Popful Mail has been playable in any form outside of Japan since the original Sega CD release 30 years ago.*

*Because Victor Ireland was a curmudgeon about letting Working Designs games appear on the Genesis/MD Mini 2.

Hopefully it gets more love in the future. I'd love to see Falcom revisit the game either by re-localizing the Sega CD version or a reboot. In terms of presentation and humor, it always felt ahead of it's time. It's probably just me, but I get a lot of Shantae/WayForward vibes.


Also picked up Golvellius as a quick bonus as I liked the Sega Master System version. It's a solid but unique Zelda-style game that does it's own thing not unlike Crystalis (NES). I don't know how they got the rights after Compile went bankrupt and their IPs were divided up by various companies such as Sega and M2, but it's nice to see more of their cult classic catalog become available.

I'm amazed just how many Egg Console releases I recognize from playing random obscure Famicom Disk System ports.

Here's hoping. Unfortunately, Dark Prince uses the midis for 4's ost but we should be good now

Part of it is just how things go with the Forum structure, and if we're being honest, the modern internet as a whole. I think the only real way to stop bots as they normally present themselves is to require private email addresses to create an account like ResetEra does or further increase the site's posting restrictions.

The compromised accounts though, I'm not really sure what's been going on there as I haven't heard of any notable security breaches since the large DDoS attack a full decade ago. They did happen for a few weeks last year but died down and are now back in full force. What is being done at the Admin level beyond the occasional IP Ban that us Mods specifically request, I would not know either.

If you see a bot, please do report it and make sure not to click on anything. We'll remove it as quickly as we can.
