I hate that I actually thought you meant Garfield the cat for a moment.
Isn't that what he was talking about?

We're getting Garfield the Cat in No Way Home in exchange for Disney allowing Nickelodeon to put Spiderman in All Stars Brawl.

Well so how's everyone? I've had an alright day. Switching to my current Discord pfp.

Had Tim Horton's for breakfast, been out and around the area, had some quiet library time, finally cutting off an acquaintance (guy who introduced to the forums idea) and finally gonna be starting my moped lessons for real next week.

Just, you ever have a conversation that while small, makes you feel like it's time to step up a bit? Had a talk with someone about my weeb interests and while I like anime, feels like I should also expand interests somewhere else now.

Enough talk from me, I hunger for food.

The difference between the comics and the movies is that in the comics, the classic/original Nick Fury is a World War 2 veteran who used some kind of serum to artificially extend his life (at least, that was the story up until recently - it was revealed in Original Sin that he aged in real-time and the younger Fury was a Life Model Decoy beyond a certain point in time), whereas the MCU was much more grounded (especially back in phase 1), so they couldn't have him being a WW2 veteran.

As a result, it seems like it would simplify things to make him the only Nick Fury, like in the Ultimate comics; having two different Nick Furies in the MCU seems like it would be unnecessarily confusing.

Change in comic books comes and goes - some times, it sticks (it seems like Carol Danvers will be Captain Marvel and Kamala Khan will be Ms. Marvel for the foreseeable future - it's a logical continuation of Carol's character), and other times, it doesn't. (Amadeus Cho as the Hulk, Richard Grayson or Azrael as Batman, Ben Reilly as Spider-Man, etc.)

EDIT: I forgot that the name of the first Robin is censored
I have to wait a bit before i reply Hands ouch!

Ok, so recently they announced X-Men 97. A sequel to the internet-popular 90s X-Men cartoon.
I did see that show as a kid on the Jetix reruns of the time, but I barely remembered anything about It. And because I didn't want to be like certain ignorants on YouTube who drop videos the second something gets announced and hate It for clicks, I decided to revisit the original show on Disney+ (not everything as I had no time due to something this weekend doh, just the first season, half of the second and the final episode)... And I have a lot to say.

I'm so sorry if this bothers any of you... But the original show is dated af. And I don't mean that the animation looks old or that "old thing bad"... I mean that some of the stuff in that show would raise eyebrows to the quality standards of today. Just to name the highlights:

-Except for Rogue (in the episodes I've seen), It seems every main female character has an oddly perfect excuse to be absent from some of the action in the show: Storm has a claustrophobia which stops her from taking part in some episodes for the most part, Jean is heavily nerfed from the comics and Jubilee is treated as the youngling member so they barely send her to missions (even though she can explode things which you'd feel It be of use).

-The love triangle between Wolverine, Jean and Cyclops feels so rushed and forced. Mostly looks like an excuse to take out Wolverine from some episodes (probably because of the whole deal with the claws). Not to mention that they never explain why Wolverine or Cyclops love or have interest in Jean (or viceversa) in the first season. This Is bad as the first season is where normally you introduce these things.

-Gambit is a creep. Like no cap. He is always being weird around Rogue, in various episodes he tries to flirt with her without consent and most of the time he always has these weird things which just feel... Out of character if you know the character from other versions or comics.

-The plots feel rushed. They do the thing of every 90s cartoon where they try to reimagine classic X-Men stories into animated form... But just as with the others It fails to do so as besides some exceptions they don't fully catch the original strength of those stories.

So yeah, that whole list alone was enough to start making me question if this was the right show to bring back... And then I remembered the shows we got after:

From my point of view, this show was better structured than the 90s cartoon.
The characters actually felt like actual characters instead of single trait-ones, the writing was vastly improved as the quality standards back then got better than in the 90s, every character had at least one cool moment to shine and It was a pseudo-sequel to Evolution so they did get to do new stuff with the license which is neat.

All without mentioning that the neutral designs of the characters make them easier to write stories around, without being stuck on anything pre-90s like the original cartoon

And yet, this show got cancelled with the final episode ending on a really big cliffhanger involving Apocalypse. While the original 90s cartoon ended on what seemed to be a satisfying ending with Professor X passing away and the X-Men moving on.

And with all that said...

Besides nostalgia value, was It really necessary to bring back the 90s cartoon? Instead of other shows which have way more need of a continuation such as Wolverine & The X-Men?

Idk, I feel like bringing back the 90s cartoon is gonna be troublesome: I have faith on the people they have confirmed so far, but the original show is so dated, so stuck to a specific time period and with such a Definitive end that I find It tough to imagine how they can continue It.

More so because ever since the X-Men franchise has evolved a lot: new characters have been made, new iconic plots, new developments on some of the classic characters... A lot of stuff from way after the 90s.

So yeah, with all that said... I'll keep an eye on this new revival. I hope that most of us get to enjoy It... But I do feel other stuff was more important and that with shows such as Owl House or Amphibia being out there the competition is gonna be stronger than in the 90s.

That is all I wanted to say, hopefully this post doesn't cause much trouble. Tried to make good use of the spoiler tags so It doesn't feel like a big wall of text.

Nah, you're cool dude. I don't really care if you dislike the cartoon.

I also thought it was a puzzling decision to bring it back, but hey, nostalgia works.

If anyone gives you serious **** for criticizing the 90s X-Men cartoon, disregard everything they say because clearly these people don’t have lives.

If people are annoyed at what you like its a problem for them, not you. Just remember that.

They are the ones making a fuss of it.

Wouldn’t You Like To Know?
Does Spider-Man: No Way Home really need to be 2 hours and 40 minutes? There's probably lot of fat that could easily be trimmed out. I mean such a premise is no Infinity War or Endgame.
Well, given the amount of characters shown in the trailer along with the laundry list of leaked info it seems like the only way to stop this from being a lightning paced mess is to make it super long.

Theres definitely a lot that could in theory be trimmed, but it’s also something I don’t think the majority of people want to be trimmed.

Sure a near three hour movie is a lot to get through given I have the attention span of a dog, but I also wouldn’t want to see any of the villains or heroes cut for that reason. At least not yet, if the movie does them poorly that can change.

Just like you when I was a kid, I too had watched a few episodes of the X-Men cartoons during the 90's and I do recall that it was super popular at that time. Although I had watched a couple of episodes, I was pretty much in to Spider-Man and the Fantastic Four a lot more at the time. The X-Men even had their own fighting game which was produced by Capcom too.

This link here is a rather intruging yet interesting read regarding Stan Lee on the creation of the X-Men.

About those ignorant channels (even though I tend to avoid watching any of their videos or even the comments section), they will always find something to complain about without doing any research or providing any substantial evidence to their claims. But as I said before, its best to ignore them because all they want is the clout and nothing else which is rather sad.

If there is any other Marvel cartoon that I do hope they will consider reviving is the Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes.
