after seeing some of the placings at NCSU:

placings mean nothing. even if thought to be seeded well. placings mean nothing in terms of PR's.

thank you.

Lmao exactly.

I got 5th and I beat EMB, Sanketh, Gaga and Austin.
Lost to Adam and KP.

Austin beat Stingers and DJ, thus having bigger/tougher wins IMO, and placed under me. I'm sure I could make similar cases for almost everyone in the 5-10 range.

wow, yeah beating stingers and dj is pretty legit.

my 7th was comprised of beating gofg, ba11ard, jim, and moo, and losing to DJ and cam.

but yeah, i'm speaking definitely less for myself and more in general of...yeah some placings are like...yeah.

I wanted to say something but I have no idea how to word it.

placings count a little. something something something. PR takes some of that. something. rest or a lot comes from knowing the names in PR and their consistency. something. something. I lost it. But that's what's left.

and..yeah.

NC should really consider having at least one round of pools

I know u guys considered it a while back and ppl tend to arrive late and hold up the bracket for immense spans of time, but I feel like it's definitely the best alternative to a faulty PR seeding system, especially when it doesnt take into account OoS [yet does take into account OoC :D ]

If pools arent an option, then you/we should really be content to stick with PR seeding. It's really the most reliable method u can ask for atm

I'm down with pools as long as we have the numbers for it and bits don't show up late.

Pools with less people is mad legit though too. Should still leave time for crews if bits didn't show up late/hold things up.

Pools are a good idea. I like being able to play more people in serious matches.. With pools man you get a lot more out of a tournament. Such a good idea!

That aside, my new tournament mind set is if I don't get 1st 2nd or 3rd I lost period. Especially with mid sized tournaments like this. It will build salt and more motivation. No reason to settle for anything less..

I'm thinking like this for now. If I can't beat Kevin, I'm losing. Long road of salt and motivation. It's working so far, lmfao.

I like pools
But mainly because I go not really for tournaments [still working on them tourney nerves] and more for playing as many people as I can

pools for a 30+ man tournament should probably happen. 30 is arguable, but id say any more than 35 or 40 definitely needs them. the only problem is that in nc, tournaments rarely finish on time, so adding pools to the agenda is usually out of the question.

the solution to this (attention to's): stop food breaks. there's still time for food without distracting an hour+ from the tournament schedule. after smashing up in tristate and mass (with higher tourney audience than nc) with no food breaks, i realize they're just a waste of time. the last mass madness (about 30 ppl) had singles pools (no food break) and was done by 9:30. and everyone still ate on their own time at some point.

other than that, nc should get their general s*** together and run tournaments more efficiently overall (based on when i was nc, tho i doubt anything has changed lol).

and for ppl who dont know yet: im gonna be back in gboro in 2 weeks for good. zupp :yoshimelee: :yoshimelee:

I agree with mike.

F food breaks we make our own.

I want tourneys done on time so we can yell at each other for crews instead of just yelling at mahone

even though that's still really fun

sup mahone

I hadnt thought about the food breaks problem. Sounds like a good suggestion, but I also like PPs idea about pools for smaller tournaments as well. I think it fosters a less tense, more active tournament atmosphere and makes going to smaller tournaments more attractive. Who knows, it might make the PR's more agreeable if each tournament is seeded individually.

Basically I made the biggest mistake ever, I thought DJ was gone for good, and theo was gone for now, and invested all of my time in the ganon, peach, falco and falcon matchup.

As a marth main I have no idea what to do vs shiek, I lost to gaga aka Taheem the sage of the coast.

I refuse to take anything away from taheem's MASSIVE improvement. Seriously dude you've come miles and miles from TGM. No johns GGs bro
