The series, not the character you perv otakus

Back in the 16-bit days I was mostly a Sega kid. I had a Sega and played Sonic 2 all the time. My older sister had a friend with a SNES and Link to the Past. He let her borrow it, and for months I watched her play. I was too young to figure out how to get out of the castle in the beginning, but man did I love exploring the tiny rainy beginning area. Finding the secret hole to the castle basement just blew my little mind. So, I was REALLY involved when my sister played and she was a lot better at it than I was. Still, she never beat it and eventually we had to give the SNES up.

Zelda 64 was the first game I was ever intensely hyped for. I remember drooling over magazine pages that showcased screenshots from the game (the very early version of the game that looked much different than the completed OoT). I was finally at an age where I could actually play a Zelda game. The moment I stepped out of Kokiri Forest and the camera does that sweeping pan over Hyrule Field, I jizzed in my pants. It was so overwhelmingly awesome and massive. Of course, it's funny in retrospect as the overworld in OoT is a lot smaller and less populated than LttP's, but if you played the game when it came out it was an incredible experience.

So what about you? Are you old and first played the NES Zeldas? Are you a nub and just started with Twilight Princess? What first made you think "I love this, I want to play every Zelda game"?

Back when I was about 7 years old, my 2 year old brother was part of this Christmas song event with the other toddlers at his preschool. My parents and I attended this. Afterwards, my dad took me to what must have been a Walgreen's or something and we headed over to the magazine aisle. I was looking through the gaming magazines and stumbled upon what must have been the December issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly that featured a hi-res 3D render of Link drawing the Master Sword out of the pedestal of time on the cover. I was hooked. I sat on the floor of the stoor reading every bit on this "Zelda" thing. I urged my dad to buy the issue, and so he did. I still have that magazine packed away in storage somewhere. Soon after, I subscribed to Nintendo Power and they began to post pics of Zelda 64 (all the beta screens). I was so insanely hyped for this game that I convinced myself it would be the best game of all time. Then I got it for Christmas the next year and my theory was proven true: Ocarina of Time turned out to be the best game of all time.

That's when I fell in love with Zelda, but I did not understand the love until I was finally able to build up enough courage to overcome the Forest Temple in OoT.

:(:(:(:(, i am not perv otaku ...... :laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

well, i fell in love with zelda (the saga :p) when i was a little boy, i has 7 years old when i play for first time the mighty "The Legend of Zelda OoT" the game was perfect, i really loved, and like a n00b, i jumped for joy when defeating an enemy (stallchild).

the game was some advance ( i dont buy it, i frend lend it to me), i has access to the water temple, and was very fun to explore that place.

after two years, (with a new "gamer" mentality) i played OoT again, but this time from the beginning.

this game took 3 years to finish it ( the game wasnt mine, and my knowledge of english wasnt very good).

the final battle was my favorite part, After escaping from the castle with Zelda, i thought
" all finaly over (sadly) " but after hear that noise, fill me with courage, and i want to investigate...

OMFGWTFHAXX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! he still alive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :scared:

i really fell in love with the saga.

after came majoras mask, minish cap, TP, ALttP, an the rest is story

PD: zelda is pretty,

When my family and I moved from New Jersey to Arizona a way while back, we spent quite a bit of time up at my Aunt and Uncle's. Now, even though I owned a Genesis and played games before this, my cousin exposed me to Nintendo with his NES and Zelda 1 and 2. Every time we went up my five-year-old mind was filled with wonder and fantasy as I explored an 8- bit Hyrule. From that point on the only games I would even play on a Nintendo console up until the Nintendo 64. When he got a SNES, all I would play was a Link to the Past and even though I did play Mario 64 on his Nintendo 64 that he got a few years later my favorite game to play on it was OoT. And the rest is history.

Never did fall in love with it, I just started playing and thought it was pretty cool. I'll have to say though, I was 16 when I played my first Zelda, and it was TP.

1994. I finally got my -own- NES (really late to the game, I realize) instead of leeching off my friends' and I was able to finally play The Legend of Zelda for the first time without interruption. I had bought the NES w/a bunch of games, so I had The Adventures of Link also. I also got my hands on "Conquering Zelda" an old school strategy guide. Though I didn't need it for the first play-through, LoZ's 2nd quest is very tough, even by those day's standards. Ironically I wouldn't play another Zelda game for several years, until Windwaker, actually... then I went and played OoT, MM, and then ALttP, but none of them make me as happy as beating LoZ.

I started the whole video game thing alittle late (my first gaming system being a GameBoy SP at the age of about 10 if i remember and i got it on my B-day) then when i waz about 12, i think, my cousin let me borrow his game cube and i waz sooooooooooooooooo happy it made me feel special, and thats when i first played zelda OOT (the one that also came with Master Quest, were i couldn't even get out of the Great Deku Tree). i was awed and i loved it! it waz hard for me at first but once i got the hang of it i had so much fun its just a great game, but then my cousin had to take it back :( (they were all his games) i had already beat it twice but it waz just so much fun! i also got hooked on the metroid series at that time because of Metroid Prime (which he let me borrow). after OOT i played WW. i liked the game play but it just wasn't as good as OOT (IMO). after my cousin took all his games back i then got MM. i loved it to it waz a very interesting game with a unique story line. after that i borrowed TP from my friend and beat it. i like it as well and had alot of fun. im currently makin my way through LttP. :) (sorry for such a long post) while i may have started a little late i still kinda prefer the old games :)

I first truly fell in love with this series when I got ALttP, and I really enjoyed this game when I finally beat it! Then it kept going with WW and TP, but in between there, I found and bought the LoZ: Collector's Edition with OoT and MM, and now I'm hooked for life! XD

Now waiting for SS, already pre-ordered!

I don't think I fully came to appreciate the awesomeness of the Legend of Zelda series until I played Wind Waker, honestly. I had played Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask but I don't think I grasped the games completely yet. But with Wind Waker my eyes were opened, thankfully. ^^

I wouldn't say I'm in love with Zelda games, but instead appreciated their greatness. I never was into them until Wind Waker became a player's choice title. I was at a friend's house and saw he had Wind Waker and asked if I could play it. He said yes and I tried it. I found it to be good and a few weeks later, I bought it. Once I owned it, I ended up stopping midway through the game. A few months before Twilight Princess was coming out, I gave Wind Waker another chance. I played it, finished it and loved it. From there, I played other Zelda games and found them to be great (especially OoT and MM). So Wind Waker was my springboard for getting into Zelda.

I didn't necessarily fall in love with Zelda games until I played through OoT and TP, but I found out how much fun it could be win I first saw my friend get carried away by the tornado in the original SSB. Man, that still makes me laugh today.

Back when I was 3 years old, I was officially introduced to video games for the first time(meaning me having memory of about it). Of course, my first game I had ever graced was A Link to the Past, and I used to play it with my Nana almost everyday(I lived one floor above at the time). I used to go downstairs, and she'd beat the game from a new file before I left for bed. I was so immersed into the game, that I actually beat it when I was only 5 years old(3rd game I beat at that time, the others being Super Mario World and Donkey Kong Country).

I have been a huge fan ever since I first played the series at my young age. It also helps that family members enjoyed the series as well. I love the series so much, from the musical scores, to the joy it brings to me while playing them, and I doubt that will ever change.

Aunt always played on NES emulator, loved playing the game, then got OoT when I was little, got stuck in Jabu Jabu and was pissed, finally beat the dungeon, find out the game isnt over, get scared of wallmasters in forest temple, quit for years, finally finish OoT time 06, finished ages and seasons well before that, hated wind waker, had to play 4 diff times before actually beating, loved wind waker at the end, hate twilight princess more than anything, MM is my fav, best scene is getting couples mask, so sad.

I remember when I came home many years ago and saw OoT in my room. I played it, and beat it in 3 weeks. I absolutely feel in love with the Zelda games after that. I now own every Zelda and have them all beat.

(Except any of the handhelds, I hate the handheld titles)

You're missing out. Link's Awakening is one of the best Zelda games. The Oracle games are pretty good and so is Minish Cap. Stay away from the DS games, though, those are crap.

AMEN i hate the DS titles and i hope they don't ruin OOT in the DS version :(
I am actually excited about OoT being on 3DS, they said it will be an exact remake with better graphics and possibly better gameplay.

If not just as good as the original, it might be better than its N64 counterpart.

This is more or less my history, except that I dont have an old sister, and I did beat the game with a little help from some friends when I sometimes got stuck. Best game ever for me. Better than Ocarina of Time, because its the very first great zelda and OOT is a kind of 3D version of it.

WOW...WOW... JUST WOW. the first time i played it was when my uncle bought it. i was 9 or 10. he use to invite us to his house every night (when he lived next door p_q) and we would play to beat. even though he was the one who bought he would make me my brother and cousins play he would be in the background either amazed at the good things we did or laugh at our misery XD. at first we were just passing it to beat the game. once we beat the game it said that gannon was trapped not killed so i wondered about that, i wanted to know more. who is link, Gannon, Zelda. these wierd Races, Goron, Zora, Hyrulians. after a year or so i bought the game myself played it read everything the storyline AMAZED me. it was increadible made perfect sense. Gannon cant die they can only trap him, and he escapes every one hundred years or so. interesting how out of everyone i would be the only one to continue playing.

after that i played every game the ones before oracle of ages/seasons. link awakening, a link to the past,. then i found out about majora's mask. althought not completly with the storyline it was still an awesome game. then windwaker came in and they use Majora's mask as part of their storyline and i was like WOW TOO COOL. when link left Hyrule Gannon came back, people expected the hero of time to return but he was too busy in termina fields and never returned. thus resulting in the sages putting Hyrule under water.

Then Twilight princess came out, a remake out OOT it was really nice good story line as well showing how people who got greedy wanting the promise land to themselves got sent into shadows. really nice as well.
it gave a good realistic look to Gorons and Zora's.
I can't wait for the new one >_<

While my brothers and I had an NES growing up and I have plenty of opportunities to play LoZ, it wasn't until LttP that I truly fell in love with the series. It was one of the first games I could really handle playing on my own and actually do well at. Also, LttP is one of, if not the best game in the series. So that helps.

A good 11-8 years ago, whenever I was at my grandma's house, (provided there wasn't a game on) someone was playing the NES. My grandma played Dr. Mario, my aunt played Super Mario Bros, and my brother played none other than the original LoZ. That was my initial introduction to Super Mario and Zelda. Then, my brother got Four Swords Adventures for GameCube, along with Ocarina of Time. I started playing these, and loved them a lot. Before you knew it, I started wanting every game. The only recent games I've actually acquired are Minish Cap and Spirit Tracks, even though I did get an N64 and, among others, I have OoT and MM. Skyward Sword and OoT3D are next on my list.

Phew 13 years ago I got Ocarina of Time, it was such an epic thrill as far as video games go, the next year Majora's mask came out, and I LOVED that one as well, I've played the first zelda, but I fell in love with LoZ during Ocarina of Time. Windwaker + Twilight Princess as well are the reasons why I stay loyal to the Nintendo brand! :d

Hugs? :O

I actually started with Link's Awakening DX, but that was hard as hell for me. I took a break and the next game I got was actually TP. I played it and loved it, but my friends all were like "Oh man, OoT, LttP, and whatnot!", so I played all of them and loved them.
