Holy fricken crap, I am so excited for this game, from the hands on they said it controls just as good and better. And not that as a nintendo fan I emphasize graphics and power but Im happy the wii is finally getting this treatment.

And they could really open up a lot with wiispeak, and if they added a usb keyboards then if they used their own custom online lobby/friend system they could do away with friend codes (PLEASE!) you could send messages and whatnot, join clans ect.ect. I wouldnt mind if the online turned into a carbon copy of XBL or something.

And puddin all I gotta say is yes all wii shooters after the controls are nailed WILL feel great and very similar JUST like every Xbox/360/ps2/ps3 game after Halo came out.

As for the graphics, the enemies are extremley well done and could pass for 360 for someone not really paying attention. But the enviroments...>.> lets just say im thinking gamecube like. but its coming out in 2009 sometime so I can only hope thats one of the areas their polishing.

Online lag, Medal of Honor heroes two which runs at 30 fps runs online without any lag whatsoever. And I think that if they can do it, The conduit can do it jut as easily, however one should note they want the final version to run at 60 fps. Dont think that will happen though.

Well MoH:H2 was a pretty decent FPS, and the online was good (no lag with 32 ppl wtfbbq) except that it was pretty bland and had no communication. This game is not bland at all (very colorful and such) and actually has some communication, even though it is the stupid wii speak.

Maybe this game will support third-party mics. God I hope so...

EDIT: The story is so unoriginal that it hurts and the main character looks like a twelve year old's wet dream. But I am still willing to put that aside if it turns out all right.

I can't wait to buy this game. It looks awesome. But, as said before, the graphics could have a little more improvement. It feels kind of like a PS1 game when I look at it.

Still, it looks great, and I'm glad it's getting recognition.

Halo is overrated because it has a strong following and community. Just like Smash, whose last iteration also happens to be overrated. I, personally, can deal with an average game if it promises near infinite replay value.
The difference is, I don't support Brawl just because it's part of Smash. In fact, I do just the opposite. Halo fans (most of them) tend to not bash any of the games. Most of the ones I know love the first one most, but most of them still think 2 and 3 are awesome.
And I don't think Brawl, nor any of the Halo games, offer infinite replay value.

At least Halo can back it up. Can't say **** about that<_<. Besides, having to compete with CoD4 and BF: Bad Company isn't as easy as well...what FPS competition would The Conduit have for the Wii? Exactly.
Um...this may be my opinion, but Halo is mediocre. I don't think that's backing it up at all.

Half-Life 1 and 2 were LOADED with puzzles. FPA, as a genre, does not really exist. For true adventure games play Secret of Monkey Island and Sam and Max. Adding combat, reduces the games "adventure value." ALL FPSes require exploring and solving things.
Regardless, Metroid Prime is not your run-of-the-mill FPS. It's not easily comparable to most any FPS because it is, when it comes down to it, a 3D Metroid game. Did it change in the transition? Of course. But it's a Metroid game at heart. Which makes it a LOT different from any other FPS. Metroid is ABOUT Adventure. It's in a first person view, and you have a gun. Would you say that Super Metroid embodies every portion of a FPS, aside from the first-person view and a 3D world? I certainly wouldn't. And Metroid Prime is a little different, but not much.

Hype will destroy this game. Ask fans of Halo 3 about that one.
I agree that hype can destroy it, but I've not seen massive enough hype to kill the game yet. In any case, it won't kill it for me, because it looks interesting, but I'm not doing anything extreme--anticiptaing, following it, anything. I'm simply leaving it, hoping for the best but not assuming anything.

This game is going to be good.

I've seen the recent videos and this game is looking to be exactly what the Wii needs.

killing three birds with one stone.

A mature game.
Quality 3rd party exclusive.
Showing how to do FPSes right.

Only thing I'm worried about is the length/story.

I have always wanted a Halo similar game to come out for the wii, and finally one is. The Conduit looks great and voice chat and online are a must to make a shooting game a total success.

Too bad it doesn't have offline multiplayer...

Still this is one game I wil most certainly buy.

I don't really care how short the single player is, as long as multiplayer has a lot of replay value like Smash and Halo do.
Ditto. But then again all good FPSes have high replay value. lol

I don't have Live and I've played Halo 2, halo 3, and gears' campaign like a hundred times.

What I really want to see is the MK4 Deatomizer(i dunno how you spell it lulz) It looks like the love child of the Kriss .45(if im correct the basic design is the Kriss), plasma rifle, the Needler and the Power Beam.

I linked the picture of the Kriss because I'm not sure if im allowed to post it. :ohwell:

Also the Weapon Montage

This game is looking better and better. I like the art direction they took, more styalized than realistic, which is good considering the Wii can't pull of Gears/COD4 graphics. I've always wished that I could use my Wii Remote for Halo and COD4 and even Half Life 2 and eps. Anybody whose played MP3 or MOH:H can't deny that the Wiimote is as close as it gets to mouse controls for a console. So long as they can pull of an IN-DEPTH multiplayer mode with matchmaking, mulitple playlists, and maybe voice-chat (Wii speak is stupid as ****) this may actually have me giving the Wii some love and putting Mass Effect and Gears aside for awhile.

I've been playing Resistance on the PS3 for a few days now, and lordy do I wish that I had the 'ol Wiimote for aiming. The dual-analog thing isn't bad, it' s just not the most accurate method ever devised by man.

Um... did you mean to post this in the PS3 thread?

If you weren't though, the Wii has the best FPS controls outside of the computer.

Nope. Just giving a bit of opinion on what it's like to go back to dual-analog after playing the Wii for a year. It's night and day, what the Wii has going for it in FPS controls.

To bad we have like two FPSes on it. Well, three in March.
Hopefully the Conduit will sell well enough (everybody buy two copies) to convince other developers that FPSs and--dammit--hardcore games in general are viable on the Wii. I have an IR pointer and I want to aim at things and shoot them with it!

3rd Person shooters also work extremely well, like Resident Evil 4 and Death Jr. Root of Evil. Now we just need a few more games that are built as excellent experiences with or without the controls.

Not to sound like a troll [because I 'just' said this a minute ago in another thread] but I don't really like CoD. It's pretty run-of-the-mil but it's extremely over hyped, more so than Halo [at least Halo has something going for it]. Conduit seems more interesting than the new CoD too because it [correct me if I'm wrong] appears to be going back to World War 2 which just doesn't make since because they've been there like 3 times already. I would understand if there was a continuous story but there isn't so there's no point in recycling such a cliche and rehashed to death setting other than for the purpose rehashing or just being plain lazy.

Conduit is a little more fresh so it stands a better chance.

Cool. The graphics have been toned up a bit, and they showed a new gun.

Any idea what it's actually called? I doubt it will be called the 'awesome gun' as the video title suggests.

It should be called the Awesome Gun for the sake of pure honesty. Otherwise it'll probably get some random product number, like the RYT-235.

I have to wonder at how all of the game designers keep expecting us to suspend disbelief that the character we portray will simply be able to use all of the alien weaponry he comes across. I understand that it's for the sake of fluidity, but still. I've personally never seen a "What the hell is this?" moment in an FPS.

It looked like it worked as a regular gun.

But, I'm sure it will be explained. Hopefully it will, at least.

Lol, I imagine it's one of these numbers:

Main Character [having come across the carcass of a fallen enemy]: Hey, sweet! One of those things they were shooting at me with! Now, where's the "kill" button?

[insert intense explosion and moment of realization here]

MC: Oh. There it is.

I wonder if you could use the wii zapper and i like the fact that it has halo like gameplay with a metroid feel to it

I doubt that. The Zapper is regarded as the ******* child of Wii peripherals.

High Voltage software is pushing pretty heavily the emphasis on customizable controls and a hardcore experience and really pushing the excellent Wii FPS controls. Though you could probably make it at least work with the Zapper, it's not how it was intended and it's certainly not the best way to play it.

I actually like the Zapper. I guess that makes me weird.

But, in all the videos they have that has shown somebody actually playing the Conduit, they weren't using the Zapper. So it probably won't be Zapper compatible.

I remember at one point I thought the Zapper was awesome, then I realized it costs money and it's just a plastic case, kinda like the Wii Wheel.

This game just isn't worth my time. Sure, the enemies are kinda cool looking, but everything else is bland and uninteresting. They just put cod4 and mp3 together, except they sucked the fun out of it. This game just doesn't wow me.
If only nintendo had saved the multiplayer and voice chat for mp3, that would have been perfect. :ohwell:

Metroid as a multiplayer game = Teh fail. Everyone is Samus. Woo hoo. Only when they have other bounty hunters in there is it even a potentially viable option.

I'm not sure where you're seeing any direct COD4 influence here. COD4 was set as a modern game, and it wasn't the first to be so. Did COD4 simply cobble together Battlefield 2 and Metal of Honor? No, and neither does this game do as you say. Not every game with a real-world weapon and a modern setting is copying it.

I have to agree with Derek there, Metroid isn't really made for multiplayer. I haven't played Hunters but I've played the multiplayer in MP2 and it wasn't much fun, just really confusing especially since my friends had a hard time getting adjusted to the weird controls and the whole lock on thing just made it too repetitive.

I also agree with his second point. While I'm not a big fan of Conduit it doesn't blatantly borrow from anything, the closest resemblance I can see with this is that the aliens look similar to space pirates but not enough to make it look like Metroid. However, it doesn't look anything like CoD4, and if it did it's not like CoD4 brought any innovation to the genre, it looks very similar to GRAW and it's like a modern day version of MoH and countless war FPS games.
