Having the potential to not be zoners alone makes them better picks, but once you add in how much more personality they have; and that the selling point of Cuphead is the overly animated screen-spanning bosses, they're just perfect. This applies to Fraymakers as well.

Also, Small Mario > Paper Mario and generic Waddle Dee > Bandana Waddle Dee

Now, when it comes to alternate timelines... I've made my thoughts on Chief and Banjo very clear in the past.

This is one character I always kinda wanted and is 100% behind this guy now. The taunts are there, the moveset is there. The home stage is there. I'm not sure if he's considerably associated with Sony, but other than Crash Bandicoot, he's the character I'd take over any other Sony character.

I'm gonna update my list:
1. Andross over any new star fox rep (Seems kinda weird, but look. Andross is not going to look out of place, considering that we could use his "Zero" form (even the game wasn't great, it wouldn't hurt him just like Falco, Fox and Wolf have "SF zero" designs))

2. ExciteBiker over Mach Rider (just like Wario3) (Excitebike NES game was one of 10 most selling NES games)

3. Shao Kahn or Scorpion over Sub-Zero or different Mortal Kombat character.

4. Tiki (Adult) over Lucina (She would bring out more interesting moveset imo)

5. Arwing Squad Assist trophy over Andross AT - far more interesting idea about bombarding the stage with Arwings' attacks than just floating "blocky" head doing the same thing as Lugia (which is shooting stuff from background)

6. Morag & Brighid over Pyra/Mythra - the JoJo-esque fighter uses it's stand to attack (unlike Joker which it just boosts his stats) would be awesome. Pyra/Mythra, even with Rex as playable are fine, but Morag & Brighid kinda need some limelight.

7. Garchomp or Rhyperior over Lucario or different Gen 4 rep:
Garchomp has unique moveset potential and he would be first dragon-type pokemon to be playable in smash. Plus his mega evolution could be his final smash.

Rhyperior while being kinda underrated pokemon, it still has earth-bending powers that would make him a heavy-weight version of Toph from NASB. Also it could shoot out rocks from it's hands like a bazooka, which it is also cool to me.

Another pokemon choices.
8. Rillaboom or Inteleon over Cinderace:

Rillaboom would utilize his drumming skills and we could get another gorilla-type fighter after DK himself. Also he would use a lot of grass-type moves.
His final smash would be his G-Max form and he would perform the most loudest lethal concert that would harm a lot of fighters.

Inteleon would be James Bond-inspired fighter that could crawl or even use spy-related stuff and he would use water type moves since he is the water type pokemon.

His G-Max form would be final smash. He would target one fighter and shoot it like a sniper.
(Also he would be the "James Bond" of smash if we ever try to get real James Bond as fighter - which is very unlikely since he is a 4th party character)

9. Skeledirge or Grafaiai over Meowscarada or Tinkaton:
Skeledirge would be the 3rd quadrupedal fighter in the game and he would use a lot of singing in his moveset.
Like always, his final smash would let him use terastal form.

Grafaiai - would be another ink-type fighter like Inkling, but it would be more poison-related fighter than Inkling.
Also a grafitti fighter would be cool in the game.

Ok, this is going to be non-Nintendo smash alternate universe scenario...
10. Bowser over Mario - Yes, Mario's the most iconic video game character and we can't deny the fact, but a villain-over-protag choice would be awesome, considering that Bowser is one of most iconic video game villains and he has more feats than Mario himself without any power-ups.

And tones of head butting and possibly Kirby's seismic toss. You could have even possibly give Totodile a move inspired by the death roll for grab throws. Totodile is a Starter I would take over ANY other Starter, including evolutions.

Actually, I was thinking the same thing, that Pokémon Trainer’s team should’ve been Totodile, Grovyle and Charizard.

Swore I posted to this thread before, but I guess not. Anyway:

• Given how very un-Daisy Daisy's moveset ended up being, at this point I feel like I'd rather have given that Echo slot to someone else if making her an identical Peach clone was my only option otherwise. I like Daisy and all, but I'm not a fan of her being just a glorified alt costume. I feel the same way about Richter, but even moreso (which sucks since I like him more than Simon personality-wise).
• AoC Impa over Sheik. Impa's a constant character throughout tons of Zelda games while Sheik was in like... one canon title and Hyrule Warriors. I get that swapping between Zelda and Impa wouldn't make sense in Melee-Brawl, but yeah.
• Omega Metroid over Zero Suit Samus.
• Toad/Waluigi over RosaLuma.
• Azura over Corrin.
• Goomba over Piranha Plant.
• Rex over Pythra.
• Club Penguin over Sora (though this is less me being dissatisfied with sora and more me really liking club penguin as a kid)

A lot of people have suggested candidates for Sonic echoes over the years, and the two more prominent picks that people tend to suggest are usually either Metal Sonic or Shadow. Personally, I'd go for Blaze. Why Blaze? Well...

• Blaze shares a lot of Sonic's abilities, and her own unique abilities and properties would work really well as minor changes to Sonic's kit. Boost replacing his Side Special, and many of her attacks being imbued with fire - plus her Final Smash having the Sol Emeralds instead of the Chaos Emeralds - would work really well on a basic level. You could also rebalance her slightly to be a little slower and stronger.
  • If you wanted to take it further, I'd suggest replacing the Spin Dash with the Burst Dash, replacing Neutral Air with a sort of variation on Axel Jump, and giving her unique taunt animations and voicelines.
  • That said, unlike Shadow or Metal Sonic where they feel like they would be best represented as an original character, I don't think people would mind Blaze getting the echo treatment.
• She's also a decently reoccuring character from a more "recent" series, allowing her to represent the Dash series and beyond whilst potentially bringing music from that series to Smash. Coupled with her continual appearances in the Sonic series since then, she's not in a position where she feels arbitrary.
• A new Sonic character does kind of feel overdue, but including an Echo isn't an unreasonable call when SEGA have so many franchises that would work really well if they were represented here too (mostly Puyo Puyo, but then also stuff like Like a Dragon or Virtua Fighter if they wanted to go that route.)

I think she'd be a cool addition, at least, even if her time has sort of passed in terms of the Rush series' relevance compared to, say, Sm4sh. She'd still be neat as an Echo Fighter, though!

I know this is kind of a meme pick, but - while I like the idea of a kart-driving fighter - if I was forced to choose a character to represent Mario Kart with in Smash, I'd choose the blue shell itself - not the blue shell Koopa from the movie, but the winged version of the blue shell. I think the potential moveset using the wings and spikes could be really fun and stylish, and it's kinda strange that they never did anything with the slow-faller-with-fast-air-speed style character after Puff.

If I'm removing all of those I could also replace them with.

Dante, Lara Croft, Rayman, Bomberman, Frogger, Nightmare, Scorpion, Agumon, Ezio, Vault Boy... you name it, and plenty more third parties still are fair game in my desire pool.
