If this list was to determine PLAYER OF THE YEAR, the points would mean something.

This ain't the PGA, kids! [^ ^]

We should treat this like Health care. LET"S SLOW DOWN and reform it the right way.

A simplified example would be to award points based on what place you finish, add a multiplier bonus based on the strength of the tournament, divide by # of tourneys played. The higher the average, the stronger the player may be.

I'm working on an alternative version.

After 30 of 182 tourneys, you're not in the list because you only played 1 event of those 30 (which was doubles only) Isn't that nice? [^ ^]

@shadow i still think you're really good haha i just don't think you're as good as anti. LMAO probably should've been lol, you're right...but the latter is more sarcastic and this is just getting into pointless semantics

@anti: eh w/e judging from vids (lolololol) i think you make smarter decisions more consistently than shadow...but this might even fluctuate on the day! i was being a little presumptuous.

no offense meant to the two juice members listed in this post/anti. just a little confused @ top 10 in the nation by sandbag lacking CLEARLY talented players like anti, havok (who is more consistent than lain by a long shot), uhhh can't think of any right now

and in case you guys are really offended then i'll gladly fork over money to you guys in an MM when i go to NY in may lolz

You need some bracket info too for it to count Jem. In other words you'll need the entire bracket for the tourney at least.

I think I was merged with another Firefly... >.< I have a tournament listed under my name that I didn't attend (column DA in the current chart; I got 0 points for it >.>), and I don't recall ever using DDD in friendlies, let alone in tournament. I should be Yoshi only.

I'll check and separate the other Firefly. Thanks for the info
EDIT: The tag was 'Frfly', from Indiana. Sorry about the mistake

LOL CO18 is now the 5th best D3 according to this xD
:( Florida rarely upload brackets and stuff... CO18 has only 1 tournament ranked (Pound 4)

Again why not just have people tell who lost to who and who beat who.

There really is no point in trying to get brackets from people when only the Top 8 in a tourney TRULY matter.

Chances are, if you aren't really making top 10, you aren't going to be on this anyways.

Or TOs could post brackets... Since the beginning of this proyect, the idea was to rank everybody, not only the ones who reach top places. It encourages people to improve and they also can track how are they doing; how far are they from the top. This system also encourage TOs (or the people who post results) to actually post bracket and full data and not being kind of lazy

This system can't work from a bottom-up place until it becomes "the thing" to do. Have an automatic tio file uploaded to a server somewhere or something and it could be done... can't rely on people much though not for stuff like this.

exactly why its ******** that i am on this list. i wana have fun at orlando tho so im going to mlg
thats becuase of pound 4.....there hasn't been a national level tournament yet since then

Think of this way, in cod you are ranked from points, if you stop playing and have way more points than everyone else it will take awhile before other players start to pass you.

That's a common issue. Since this system has no way to reduce points (other than age), this'll happen a lot.

No examples from my work this time... I have no idea how to fix this either! LoL

Point decay. Add it in, and make it a standard % of points over time. Get the right % and it'll be self-balancing.

The Decay is already set and will make its debut today. The formula is:

Decayed_Points = Original_Points * ( 1 - (Diff/365)^2 )

Where Diff = Today - Date of the Tournament (measured in days)

So basically events fade slowly at first; After 6 months the decayed points will be 75% of the original ones, and then points fade away faster; after 365 days, the tournaments will disappear completely and will be removed.
