So one thing I want to open discussion to is if Kratos or Ratchet and Clank incorporate elements from their PSASBR rendition.
It kind of depends what we do with Kratos tbh. 2018 Kratos has a different skill set. He still has his blades but it's not his main thing

Ratchet I don't know enough about to comment on.

We are sitting at 24 points which is typically the max we tend to get to. That being said…

We will jump into our results!! With 14 out if 10 points,

Ratchet and Clank wins out Sony PlayStation character and will appear in Season 2! These two share the unique distinction of 1) never appearing on a Nintendo console and 2) being a direct representative of a rival company. This is something never before seen in the Smash community.

With that in mind, we will begin constructing a gameplay moveset for the character! In prompts past, we often went to the community in asking players how certain characters should play. This is partially go get a community feel but also I don't really know how to craft certain characters. This time though, I cam taking from a few sources in regards to Ratchet and Clank based on what I saw with the post made by it's submitter, tonygameman tonygameman .

Ratchet and Clank
Ratchet and Clank are a mid-range fighter in both speed and weight with a body frame and stats similar to Mario. Their jumping ability isn't the best but can increased thanks to a Peach/Daisy hover mechanic which is activated by holding up while in the air. Players can then direct where the hover ability will take them by tilting right or left. Now, Ratchet and Clank are largely a projectile fighter but has melee oriented combat. After reading through tonygameman tonygameman 's post and the links they posted based on different interpretations of the character there are, I feel that this is the best gimmick for the pair that best emulates the game they are from:

Weapon Switch/Upgrade Mechanic

I tried just going with the Weapon Switch but Weapon Upgrades are very important to the series and is one of the main drives with progressing in the game. That being said, while it is restrictive in the moveset creation department, I have set aside two special moves for Ratchet and Clank...

The Neutral B is for Weapon Fire
The Down Special is Weapon Switch. This allows Ratchet to have access to numerous weapons. Now, unlike in the games, there isn't any ammo caps so Ratchet can continue firing regardless of his weapons. That being said, each weapon can be upgraded twice. This is done via the Upgrade which is carried out by:

  • Utilizing a weapon
  • Hitting opponents
  • Defeating opponents

Getting damage or not using a particular weapon is a sure fire way to lose the upgrade ability. Moreover, getting KO'd will lose ANY upgrade or upgrade progress you may have. Therefore, surviving and upgrading the best strategy for Ratchet.

Ratchet will have access weapons found throughout his games which two levels of upgrades which should be based on its source content. These weapons are primarily found in the Weapon Switch but others may be allocated to the Tilt, Smash, Throw, and Aerial categories. Now, I have yet to fully set into place how many weapons we will include in the Weapon Switch but it will be at least 8 of them but I am thinking more along the lines of ten which are a lot. This would give Ratchet unprecedented levels of flexibility and utility. Each weapon has its own which is found under the character HUD. This meter will switch when the weapon is switched out and its progress will be saved with each switch. That being said, constantly switching weapons does produce a bit of a lag and puts the player in noticeable risk as they can't act out of it so it's not best to go "switch happy". When cycling between weapons in the Item Switch, players can see a smaller progress bar over each item in the weapon wheel.

With this in mind, we will be submitting the Weapons which can be found in Weapon Switch.

Ratchet and Clank Moveset: Weapon Switch

Which weapons should Ratchet and Clank have access to in the Weapon Switch down special? What are these weapons and how to they act? What are there level 1 and level 2 upgrade? These includes all category of weapons including pistols, rifles, launchers, grenades, etc. We will submit the other Special Moves plus Normals later. For now, we are doing something like what we did with Crazy Dave when we focused on his Plant mechanic first. Submissions should look like this:

PictureWeapon NameDescriptionLevel 1 UpgradeLevel 2 Upgrade

Picture

Name
It shoots thingsIt shoots one more thingIt shoots a second thing

Please submit no more than 3 weapons. If we get doubles, we will factor in what is the most realistic take on the weapon for Smash.

PyrocitorHolding the B button releases a stream of fire that functions similarly to Bowser/Charizard's fire breath Neutral B's. It's a rather weak stream on its own, but the hit rate makes it a sustained-damage beast, as it deals 1% per 5 frames.Hitting the foe with uninterrupted fire for 1 second inflicts a D.o.T. that deals 12% damage over 10 seconds.Lavacitor:
The Pyrocitor's direct upgrade in the 2016 reboot, the Lavacitor has a new ability added: after 2 seconds of uninterrupted fire hitting the opponent, they will leave behind a patch of embers similar to Rathalos's fire patches.

1647886734430.png
WarmongerTapping the B button fires a rocket in front of him that deals 15.5% explosive damage and hard knockback.Holding B allows Ratchet to lock onto an opponent he aims at for more than 30 frames to give the Warmonger's rocket homing properties.Peacemaker:
The direct upgrade of the Warmonger in the 2016 reboot. The explosion now releases 8 micro-rockets in every straight and diagonal angle. Each micro-rocket deals 7.3% damage and half the knockback of the normal rocket.

Plasma StrikerTap B to fire a large bolt that deals slight damage on its own. Uses Marth's headshot mechanics, allowing Ratchet to deal increased damage to opponents if hitting that hitbox.Holding B allows Ratchet to strafe and jump while attempting to aim, firing the gun once the player releases the B button.Plasma Slayer:
The direct upgrade of the Plasma Striker in the 2016 reboot. The Plasma Slayer now has piercing properties, making it more akin to Kazuya's Devil Blaster minus the damage reduction.

Glove of DoomGlove of Doom: The Glove of Doom is a mechanical glove that ratchet aquires in the first game, using this will let you drop a tiny orb that grows into a small herd of robots who'll run forward the direction they are thrown in and explode upon contact with an opponent, this weapon only works on ground.Neutral B will have Ratchet drop a small orb that release a small herd of robots that run straight towards the stage, if they make contact with an opponent, they'll explode leaving them with 10% of damage.Apologizes for this
1647892760306.png
Gold Glove of DoomGold Glove of Doom: This an an upgraded gold variant required in the original, while it likely plays the same as the original in smash bros the gold glove uses some upgrades the bots' have in later games, mostly their V2-V5 enhancements were they carry lasers or cannons or both? next to them. they'll run forward to their opponents while firing from their lasers, but when they run out they'll detonate and explode. With This Upgrade, The robots will fire lasers from their cannons which will leave 13% damage when hitting an opponent, if said opponent is next to them when they explode, they'll be dealt with 30% damage as they're blown into the air.Again, Apologizes
1647892773690.png
Apocalypse Glove
Apocalypse Glove: Coming from The Re-Imagined and Rift Apart, The Apocalypse Glove gives the robots jetpacks to fly in the air, they will fire from their laser cannons until they run out & detonate, if intact to them they will explode immediately upon contact.
The Robots will be floating in the air with their jetpacks in just one inch(above characters like ganondorf). Their Laser Cannons deal more damage with a damage rate of 19% and when they detonate they'll leave 50% damage to the opponent which will be enough to send them flying away from the stage.Seriously, Why?

I feel i didn't present this super well enough, i'm sorry for not putting too much work to this i'm a little too fast tracking on life now so i tried my best to focus on making a weapon idea for ratchet.

But Great to see him & clank make it into this game, congrats to kratos for making it second.

RYNOFire a sphere of energy which creates a portal. The portal itself causes damage at 1.3% per hit. Ejecting from the portal is space debris which will crash down and can spike airborne opponents. It does more damage when it hits directly on rather than a whiff. Due to it's nature, it has a lot of lag and rather predictable but deals high damage. As an Easter Egg, it could drop Nintendo related content such as an Arwing, a Bowser Statue, Villager's House, or more.It increases the speed of the portal which allows for quicker portaling.RYNO ∞
Instead of opening one portal, it opens two portals next to each other drops the same payload but double the pain and hit box.
1647908278742.png
Buzz BladesIt fires a volley of blades that will deal damage. Unlike its source material, it can't ricochet off opponents but, rather, can ricochet off solid objects. This causes it to gain a 2.2x damage magnifier after each ricochet with a total of 6. The attack is a a great damage amplifier but not the best to close off stocks. It fires off more blades per attack thus increasing the overall damage potential as well as area of effect.Doom Blade:
Not only does the attack has a damage amplifier for ricochets it performs but it can also leave a poison affect on opponents that get hit by it further increasing the amount of taken damage.
1647908561956.png
Vortex GrenadeThis Grenade works very much like a weaker version of Black Hole which will pull in opponents and levitate them. It doesn't deal damage and its pull is weaker than the item.It has a pull effect for not only opponents but for items and such as well.Singularity Grenade:
It has a wider area of effect with a stronger pull that emits tachyon waves which can damage opponents within the bomb. For every damage it does, it has a momentary burst of pull strength.

Miniturret GloveDeploys a small turret that targets certain enemy, it could only face two direction, front and back. You could place them 3 at once but they only deal chip damage in exchange for faster firing power.Turret have more health and the damage is increased to 2.Megaturret Glove

Instead of firing bullets it shoots missile that deal twice the damage and twice the output, they can face all direction and it is a homing attack but you can only deploy 2 at once.

Alright, while we have had numerous submissions we still aren't where we want to be so the Leadership team will be submitting content for the remaning weapons. That being said, here's our current loadout:

Jab:
69m7qh.gif

Ratchet's melee attack from R&C PS4. Ratchet will swipe the Omniwrench horizontally in alternating directions before winding up to perform a much stronger strike. The first two hits deal 3% while the remaining attack deals 9.5%.

Down Smash:
Ratchet_and_Clank_PS4__ALL_WEAPONS_SHOWCASE (3).gif

Proton Drum:
Aiming the weapon at the floor, Ratchet will fire a deployable Proton Drum that releases a ground-level pulse every 1 second for 3 seconds. This damages all opponents within 0.5 Units on both sides, deals 11% damage per pulse, and knockback to kill near the ledge at 129%.

Side Special:
Ratchet_and_Clank_PS4__ALL_WEAPONS_SHOWCASE (1).gif

Ratchet throws the Omniwrench like a makeshift boomerang that travels 3/4 the distance of Mega Man's Side Smash before it comes flying back to him. The attack deals a minimum of 13% and hits multiple opponents in its flight path.

Final Smash:
RYNO-SERUS:
A brand new model, its name short for, "Rip You a New One, Smashing Everything with Ruinous Ultimate Splendor". When activating this move, Ratchet and Clank take out a new, insane-looking weapon: a back-mounted cannon with 8 rotary cannons, 10 missile pods and 4 laser cannons, with Clank piloting a separate portion of the cannon that sports 7 Gauss-bows, 4 tank cannons and a mounted machine gun. With this ridiculous combination, Ratchet and Clank let it rip and unleash all their ammo in a cone in front of them. The rotary cannons and machine gun deal insane sustained damage while the missiles fly around in sporadic flight paths, and the Gauss bows, laser cannons and tank guns fire in random angles. When all's said and done, Clank jumps off as Ratchet crouches down to launch the new weapon towards his foes. The superweapon flies forwards in a straight angle before unleashing a Smart Bomb-style blast that deals immense damage and knockback. While this Final Smash is active, the 1812 Overture plays in the background, overriding the background music.

All of his grab will only utilize the Suck Cannon.
Grab
Ratchet will pull out the suck cannon and uses it which create a long range wind vortex that suck up enemy and items although it is best to use it in close proximity for an instant grab as the farther they are the longer it takes especially the bigger the subject which, if its larger than the average playable character it will not be effective. It's a mix between Villager's net and K Rool's blunderbuss.

Pummel
The jab is unique as it will have Ratchet vigorously shake the machine every tap.

Forward Throw
Back Throw
Up Throw

The throws are fundamentally the same; Ratchet will shoot out the enemy although up throw will be shortest in terms of range.

So, besides suggesting that Ratchet would be able to perform a wall jump, we've got fellow OmniWrench techniques such as Multi-Strike (Jab) and Comet-Strike (Side Special), which means I'm submitting the last one here.

Down Aerial - Hyper-Strike

A ground pound move that Ratchet uses in every single installment since the original PlayStation 2 game, to smack enemies down with his signature OmniWrench after jumping up, even allowing him to break boxes and other objects farther away with a Box Breaker gadget, which appeared in Going Commando, Size Matters and the 2016 reboot.

In Super Smash Bros. Infinite, Ratchet will pull out his OmniWrench and raise it over his head, starting to fall towards the ground at a fast speed and then slams it in-front of him upon landing. A stall-then-fall attack (which makes it risky to use and results in a self-destruct if the player isn't careful and misses), like Banjo's Beak Buster and Sephiroth's Hell's Gate, which meteor-smashes anyone at the beginning with it's hitbox (dealing 8% damage) and a ending ground slam deals 6% damage (referencing how it does double the damage of regular wrench swings in the games), launching opponents with slight vertical knockback.

Side Smash: Walloper
Ratchet dons the Walloper, a powerful melee based weapon which packs some punch. When used, he will charge it up and unleash a powerful straight lunge which pushes Ratchet slightly forward. It had a lot of kick to it and packs a wallop.

Up Smash: Spiral of Death
This isn’t your typical Up Smash as, when firing, the buzz saw will travel forward and then curves up and returns back to Ratchet in a circular pattern. This gives Ratchet too areas where he is protected: above and in front but not at the same time. Charging it up will change how much damage is dealt and how much distance it overs.

Forward Aerial: Thundersmack
This attack will see Ratchet pull out the Thundersmack in an action that has landing lag when shorthopped. He will then fired off a burst of electricity. The electricity doesn’t slow down Ratcheta fall nor does it stop the opponent in midair and it delivers a total of five hits while active. If players manage to score the total five hits during the attack, it will launch opponents at the final hit instead of just doing hitstun.

Up Air: Omniwrench Extend!
This attack will have Ratchet point the Omiwrench upward and started to spin the head like a propeller before extending it.

Back Air: Clank Zapper
This attack will have Clank transform to his original form for a moment as he strike them with an electric bolt from his antenna.

Entrance:
1648064738686.png

Ratchet's homemade spaceship from the original PS2 game lands in the background of the stage. The cockpit opens as Ratchet snatches Clank and puts the robot on his back and faces the foe.

Victory! Ratchet & Clank:
The Battleplex Victory theme from Ratchet and Clank: A Crack In Time. This theme plays when you complete a Challenge at the Agorian Battleplex in that game.

Up Smash: Thruster-Pack
With the Thruster-Pack, Clank will spawn two jet wings and boost him & ratchet in the air. Unlike the original game were you fly straight you can aim the control stick to send the duo flying straight forward to any direction.

1648067113141.png

Down Smash: Mr. Zurkon
Pressing the down smash will deploy Mr. Zurkon in front of Ratchet, he'll fire lasers from a far which deals 10% of damage if he runs out he'll self-destruct and explode, this can hurt an opponent if close, when he attacks he'll say random lines that he should be well known for like "Mr. Zurkon is here to kill"

Taunts
I choose to borrow the taunts ratchet has in Playstation All-Stars, Ratchet's Taunts are in 2:08

Umm.... I'm sorry, but we have already decided for Weapon Switch as a Down Special (would've been a Shield Special), and Up Special is miswritten as "Up Smash".

I would like to see Mr. Zurkon being one of the selectable weapons or taunts (new ones than copying straight would be better to give others a chance) with new voice lines for specific characters, though.

We have several duplicates but that’s fine! As for the specials, we can repurpose your Up Smash to that of an Up Special. As for the Shield Special, I considered it but really Shield Specials are problematic as they are confined to the ground. This would hinder Ratchet as he wouldn’t be able to perform it in the air. That being said, it would technically be true to the source material. In regards to Inkling, it makes sense as Inkling needs to the enter into the ink in order to do it.

We are still waiting on a Final Smash so we will be keeping the Final Smash submission open as was any incoming additional content. That being said, I want us to move into...

Stage Submission: Ratchet and Clank

I don't know the series well and what I have played led me to not appreciate the series very much but I do understand that its a beloved one with many fans and a long history. That being said, we will be submitting a stage for the Ratchet and Clank series. I don't really know which is the best game to pull a stage from that is representative of the series. If I recall, in PSASBR utilized both the Metropolis as a stage as well as Dr. Nefarious's ship. I would like to shy away from these in possible as to forge our own version of visioning the R&C universe. When submitting a stage, please provide:

  • The name
  • Layout and appearance
  • Any particular gimmicks or hazards
  • Cameos
  • Reason for inclusion
  • Omega/Battlefield variants

Tobruk Crater (Ratchet and Clank 2002 + 2016):
One of the early levels of Ratchet and Clank, as well as its 2016 reimagining. The fight takes place on the rooftops of the buildings and the ground in a walk-off stage. The buildings are of various sizes as well. Occasionally, crates will fall onto the stage that not only serve as extra platforms, but also as breakable constructs where fighters can collect bolts. Bolts are used at Gadgetron terminals where you can purchase shooting items to use to your advantage. Because of this, shooting item spawns are turned off when selecting this stage. Bolts can also be obtained by dealing damage to and KO'ing other Fighters.

We are still waiting on a Final Smash so we will be keeping the Final Smash submission open as was any incoming additional content. That being said, I want us to move into...
Got hit with some inspiration. Scroll up to my OG post.
