Every time I come in here I can't help but wonder how people think it's ok that MK makes more than 40% of the money in MK legal tournaments.

I just think of them as delusional and fail to use logic, then move on.

I have a lot of tolerance for things, except those are real life things that matter. I don't have tolerance for ridiculously OP/Broken characters.(likewise with cards, etc.)

Pit's gained a lot of popularity lately in tournament play, presumably because Uprising was such a smash hit.

Looking at the MK Banned charts, I would say the Mario Bros. aren't doing too badly either, all things considered regarding their crappy tier list placing...

a lot of it also probably has to do with how retardedly hard mk shuts pit down.


pit has mostly "manageable" matchups against other high tiers, but he gets poo'd on hard by mk to the point where its almost cruel to pick mk against pit

so in a mk banned environment pit will naturally do better.

Well, unless you believe that Kirby is worse than Link/Zelda/Ganon then there obviously has to be.

Usage being considered creates skewed data.

Usage not being considered also creates skewed data.

You could find a %age I guess to give you something, but then you're begging the question by assuming that you already know what you're looking for.

Character traits to create accurate MUs, with information from results to back-up the assertions, being used to create a weighted MU chart is really the only good way.

Yeah, your last line hit the nail on the head. I agree, that's what we should do.

By results, I say we look at individual sets so we don't have to worry about tournament variables as much. Moreso X has a positive record on Y, and A has a positive record on B, supporting that the MU is in G's favor. Something like that.

If you want to calculate how good a character is at winning money and accoutn for skill, the only way to somewhat do that is take the top N players from each character where N is a justifiable amount. That means if there's 30 MK players that are obviously making a ton of money / fit some criteria but only 3 Olimars, you wouldn't say "top 3" or even "top 10".

We already know that individual skill can trump character usage in small pools of players, so money won can be skewed based off of many factors and you have to account for those if you're looking to adjust that with viability on a national scale.

But WC isn't MK banned, Zekey hasn't made it into the money in a while, and I didn't know NJ/NY had many MK banned tournaments.

I forgot MD/VA has a lot of MK banned events along with NC, but that's still a lot of money for 2-3 people. Especially since 4God hasn't played in a a while. There has to be some area/people I'm forgetting. FL has MK banned events, right? Some of this could be from HungryBox.

Bear in mind that, if these values were added together, the resulting value would be the one in King Dedede's "No Split" column. Ally used 3 other characters in the same instance of winning that $500, so Dedede only got $125 for "Full Split" in that instance.

Is there anyway that you can present the percentage of cash won by each of the characters in a descending order? Just to see how well each character is doing relative to each other. It would make me interpret the data much more easily. I understand that you already do a lot of work in this thread so it's fine if you don't want to.

Ehhh, I think I remember Coney saying that Oli wasn't too bad. He can be gimped more easily than the ICs and MK, and I believe he said that Oli was also somewhat susceptible to Inhale. I can't see myself inhaling the ICs any day...
