The King (yellow) one obviously. King used it, Mango uses it. Soo yea. oh, next is the green rambo one. Naked one is after. Then the red/blue are tied for last.

So what beats Marth's spamming fair?

So I took a long break of almost 2 months off of Smash. Taking off those bad habits. I'm going to start playing again. Are there any important things to remember against Fox/Marth/Falco? Spacing tips, general tips, matchup tips. Any tips.

Blue bow is the worst one.
*high fives*

Everyone pretty much disagrees with my color list but...

Naked>Flower>Crown=Headband>Ribbon

Crown and Headband lose points because they're cliche.

I like naked mostly because everyone hates naked LOL

Rest setups are basically the same thing for every character.

Uptilts and upairs are always a staple.

You can duck Sheik's grab, but nowadays if the sheik knows the matchup she'll mostly nair out of shield if she's that close. Doing an aerial into her shield and immediately crouching sometimes baits her, but top players don't do it as much, so throw some crouches here and there to see if your opponent knows what to do. If they don't then continue to crouch lolol.

Baiting people to jump over you is an okay way to possibly catching an upair. Just put pressure spacing backairs and they'll have to find a way around it. Most of the time they go for the platforms or try to jump above and behind you to get their ground.

Also if a sheik tries to dair you with poor spacing you can just upair/utilt that ****. You always want sheik directly above you. If she's diagonally above you though she can slap you and stuff and that's no good.

And sheik's recovery is lol. If you have her up-b-ing then just make her go to the stage then rest her lag.

By doing a cross up(Jumping behind them so they can't shield grab) and doing an uptilt sometimes catches them off guard. I don't do this very often because I just like bairing like a homo.

Mixing up WoP with bair to upair can catch people sometimes. Pikachu is a small little thing so it's hard to hit him with the upair on the ground.

Just don't let Pikachu be below you because her upstuff is annoying and it hurts.

And always you can tech chase rest or bait a roll rest. Thunders combo rest, etc etc. I don't have a real SETUP for it but I just do stuff until the situation arises

I mean there's more to the matchup than just rest setups, but that's not what you asked for :D

This was a random post by Darc. Some of these tricks are in theory since I don't play Pikachu's very often.

Feel free to criticize my advice because I'm a horrible teacher. I'm more of a reaction player.

Edit: Also, my favorite Jigglypuff trick is empty jumping into grabs. Sooooo good. /random.

i used to play flower but now i play naked =D i dunno why, it just feels so much more aerodynamic. occasionally crown just for fun, but always naked in tourney.

long post
i agree with most/all of this. you should post here more often.

"thunders combo into rest"...i think i know what you mean, but now i can't stop picturing jigglypuff doing dair shine.

*adds to pikachu matchup* last time i played n64, general spacing seemed to do the job, especially good 'ol back air. i could tell if was a lot harder for him to hit me than for me to hit him, and my hits all did more damage. and pika can't run in with upsmashes if you keep putting unfairly extended legs in his/her running path.

Could I get some critique in hereee?

GSUB and Hyprid vs. HugS and Lucky

Whenever I say Thunders I mean jabbing people on the ground to force them to get up in place lolol.

I'll do a small teams critique. Just a general idea. Nothing specific.

If you can't beat the opponents 1v1. Do not face them 1v1 in teams. You're going to have to double up on them. Punish laggy moves, do team combos, grab rest, etc. You can't just beat Lucky and Hugs with normal play(I don't really know you guys in singles, but I'm just assuming they'd beat you)

Also, I hate Marth Jiggs unless you're grabbing the **** out of them and resting. The reason I hate Marth/Jiggs is mostly for counterpicking. You guys counterpicked Yoshi's and I despise Yoshi's. Yet counterpicking Dreamland or something wouldn't have been good for the Marth. They just don't complement each other in terms of stages.

You may think Dreamland is bad because Samus lives forever, but a reason Samus is somewhat bad in teams is that you can spend time double teaming their partner when they're bomb jumping back. Also Jiggs poops on Samus' recovery.

Also, you should know that Lucky is really good against Jiggs. Try to avoid taking him head on.

That's all for nowwwwww.

"**** Yoshi's"

That is exactly what I say when banning stages.

Different strokes I guess. I commend you for being comfortable on it.

yeah, he's right, in general you should be trying to kill lucky since he's the fox.

and marth jiggs is kind of an awkward team...it relies on the jiggs for kill power. so if you're doing that team you'll probably need to get lots of rests and gimps and stuff. which is easier said than done on lucky and hugs =/

also this didn't seem like it happened too often, but whenever it did they really took advantage of it: don't leave the marth alone. marth can be hit really hard in teams. in 1vs1 he relies on his spacing and dashdancing and stuff a lot, but it's much harder to do that in teams, and he can get cornered more easily. so he really needs his partner to help him out. but yeah, you seemed pretty good about that.

he's right about dreamland and samus too. as for yoshi's...i dunno if i'd recommend it with those teams, especially since marth would only feel more claustrophobic on such a small stage...but whatever, yoshi's *****. if it were me i'd be wanna go there too. "let's go to yoshi's!" "why?" "i dunno, we need something random to happen. i'll rest them a lot, don't worry about it."

edit: i only ban yoshi's in singles vs. marths. one time i was gonna beat europhoria in a set and he fthrow fsmashed me at 0, and i DIed bad and lost the stock. it wasn't my last one, but damm, i can't come back from that.

edit 2: i just remembered i don't know anything about teams. but maybe that was useful anyway :bee:

I like fighting HugS in teams as opposed to fighting Lucky.
I can handle him, but Lucky is toooooo experienced in the matchup.

And I saw that, yes, our main downfall was me letting the marth get *****.

I like this marth as a partner though.
We beat a fox marth team with this team (Connor and TAI)

it's good vs. people that like to run around off in the distance. like falcon or fox. but it's not an easy choice, cause if campy fox has the capacity to turn into approachey fox, yoshi's isn't such a good choice anymore. i use it more to limit characters' movement when they keep running away.

but you do die earlier, so maybe people more patient than me would prefer dreamland anyway.

So one of the things I noticed in HERB 3 GF is that hungrybox didn't try to dj turn around rest when he upthrows->rest Dr.PP.

There were at least two or three occasions (I think the matches on DL and BF...maybe there PS too) where PP was closer to the left side but hbox faced left and so PP got sent to the right and was able to live .

I think darc mentioned a while ago that he sometimes does the dj turnaround when upthrowing to try and mess up the DI

so that's something to keep in mind i guess.
