I used to be that guy. Deep down, I still am.

I've come to respect Brawl as a competitive game in time though.

I'm glad someone feels the same way I do. I hate when people trash talk a game they either don't play or quit for mediocre reasons.

Thanks, but to be honest...I probably would have been included in that category if I hadn't improved from my "mad melee skillz" background as a boost. The only thing was that it took me some time to truly understand the flow of Brawl lol.

Indeed.

Speaking of Street Fighter...ugh, I've never gotten more frustrated while playing a game in my life. I put so much work into my Cammy and I still can't beat my friend's Abel 50% of the time. I know what to punish and everything but he plays so gimmicky that it throws me off sometimes.

I've been taking an interest in MvC though. MvC 3 should be a good place to start. I'm going to run Wesker/Dante/Trish until I find out who is actually good in the game haha.

Dude, SSF4 frustrates me too. It's ******** how much work someone can put into a game to not see the results they seek. Also, Abel is friggin' top tier, and has ******** damage output on his command grab.

MvC 3 is gonna be amazing. Morrigan + Trish + Another Female, for me. I'll get a secondary team to work with, later. For now that's it. Team Sexy!

in street fighter, start simple. Seriously, it's a different mindset. Brawl is infinitely more complex as far as options, and as a result street fighter players generally play a much strong spacing and timing game. When you only have a few viable options at any point, you get pretty predictable if you don't shake things up.

So start off by doing things like "spam fireball" or "constantly approach with a jumping medium kick", understand his defensive options, and then alter those basic approaches via timing and spacing to get optimal results. After a while of doing this in friendlies, you get a much stronger base of play, and then you find that the "gimmicky" stuff is actually a player pulling out one of two dozen tricks he's accumulated over many games so that he is unpredictable.

Actually, that helps. I've always thought Brawl had more options than SSF4, and it's always baffled me that 'spam' is easily the thing to do, when in any match. I find it even funnier how hard it is to get around said spam, at times.

Sometimes the dumbest **** works in Brawl because the opponent didn't expect it. Spam being included. Brawl is just a very funny game to me with its complexiity yet central theme of "playing gay".

I like the avy btw Sov.

This seems like it could work to an extent in this game too. Maybe the "basics" of fighting games stretch upon to others. I for one always feel refreshed and I feel like my playstyle develops conceptually going back to smash after playing other fighters (Arcana Heart [lol], Blazblue, SF, GG, hell... even Melee).

* Of course, being a jack-of-all-trades and master of none, I'm rather average in all of the games I just mentioned.

It's lookin' at you. ;)

Like Overswarm said, Brawl requires a lot of thinking, and for that reason alone, I love it more than Melee. Melee only requires you to confirm a pop-up, similar to Tekken and then the rest is cake, if you can read DI, even though Tekken doesn't have DI(to my knowledge). Outside of ZSS and Ganondorf(these characters represent the Beauty and the Beast in me), I'm going to pick up Snake, who's reward for critical thinking and reads is so unreal, Marth was close behind, but Snake is it.

I went to the gym today, and my sense of confidence and self-esteem are feeling great. I'll eventually swell up into a nice size man, one of these days.

Good read TKO, especially the driver portion. So far I haven't had an issue with any of my passengers. As long as they pay what I ask and are punctual/ready to go when I need them to be...they're welcome in my car.

That was a good read. I'm probably the most relaxed driver out there. I don't usually ask for a whole lot when I drive from there to there, since there have been times when I personally couldn't pay the driver(<3 Count). I'd rather everyone stay up, because there's no point in going to sleep, unless you're simply tire from previous events(sex or otherwise).

Like kB, I'm pretty punctual about being ready to go. I'm an army boy now, and being on time is something that must stay consistent.

If one ever needs housing, I will make sure that they have a comfortable place to sleep. I do not believe in my company sleeping poorer than myself, so I will even give up my bed to allow them a spot to sleep.

Hospitality is number one for me, driving, housing, or anything that requires me to take care of someone.

Yeah, I've been a stickler for time for ages. It always gives me a tad bit of irritation when I get into this situation:

Dad/or some other driver: "Hey, I want you ready by ____ time. Don't be late. (Some sort of comment about me always being late or something)"
Me: "You know I'm never late, I'm like the first one ready any time we go somewhere."
Next morning or whenever - I'm up, I've showered, packed and am chilling at the designated place (I take time to get to that destination into the equation) before ___ hits.
10-15 minutes of irritation later. Or if the driver is there on time, skip to below step.
Driver: Oh yeah, we're here now... by the way... we have to go pick up ____ (which always guarentees to take 30+ minutes because the mofo just always JUST WAKES UP when we get there).

Granted, I'm operating on the driver's time so I understand that I need to be patient, but it's frustrating. Keep in mind that I stay up pretty much the whole time, too with said driver, talking to him or whatever.

Also, there was kind of a big deal about friends, nakama and smash over in the Ohio thread and I was thinking about my own stance on that.

I'm the type of person that generally gets along with anyone I meet, or I try to set a good impression for anyone I might happen to come accross and they and I might have some sort of connection, but I generally don't think of them as a friend until it happens multiple times or I talk to them for a good amount of time. It's weird, there are people I like that I wouldn't consider a friend and then there are people who are the type of people I dislike, but I'd consider them a close-ish friend.

Mark of a true friend for me, though... is if I invite you over to my house or kind of allow you to reside around my fam. There are a handful of people I'd consider enough to invite them to my house. I'm really particular about the people I let come around my people. I'm of the mindset that the people you bring close around you demonstrate you as a person. Kind of like: You are pretty much the company that you keep.

MI is so horrible about organizing carpooling in general LOL. Then again only like 6 of us ever travel anyway. Pretty punctual here though and my phone is quite literally always on. Its impossible for people to be able to reach you ;)

I somewhat disagree with the "empty ya own tank!" part. This is somewhat at the discretion of the driver in that he chooses where the group will be eating. If the driver chooses White Castle, someone in his car may not have to use the facilities at all before jumping back in the vehicle. Then, without warning, it hits you.

I've suffered from this sort of thing personally and ever since Sliq and Jiano decided to pull off for Burger King on the way to Pound 2 in 2007, I haven't eaten much on car trips at all. Only on 8+ hour trips will I eat anything, and it's usually just some cheetos or something llike that.

I used to take a live-culture pill called Acidopholis for this sort of thing, but it's not worth the risk. I feel for anyone with IBS or "OH **** I FORGOT WHAT WHITE CASTLES DOES"-Syndrome and will gladly take the next exit/ pull off the side of the road if worse comes to worse.

Truth. I'll gladly pull over for my passengers. It's all a part of being hospitable. Even in your own car, you're still a host to those that carpool with you.

Who wouldn't pull over for a passenger who has to use the bathroom? I know I don't want anyone taking a **** in my car.
