What's your definition of dominant? Pound4 was very MK-heavy, and it used 5-starter and only 6 CPs.

1. look at it this way: diddy kong won pound 4. mk has dominated first place at all MLGs. it's easy to twist results so that they support your viewpoint.

2. i'm not talking about results as there are always other random factors that work in. talking about from a theoretical standpoint. how would mk NOT dominate with a huge starter stage list that guarantees a non-neutral stage as the playing field for the first match in the set, and a very liberal list of CPs? is there a way to explain how the other characters in the game would overcome this and beat him?

When practicing for an MLG tournament, you should always call the MLG company to find out the details, such as what TV's they are using, if your allowed to bring a headset to block any and all noise cancellation, etc. That way, you can practice on the laggy TV to get use to the laggy TV's at the MLG tournaments. I know when I practice, I have an HD TV, since that's the only TV I have at the room, but when I go to these tournaments, players bring in their 8" TV screens that's really hard to see. Also, they should put air conditioning for these tournaments, so players can concentrate better, instead of trying to concentrate on the heat so much.

You don't honestly think first place is a better indication than top 8, do you? When people talk about dominance, they're afraid of MK taking the top8/top16, not first place. First place is much more likely be the result of the individual than the environment, especially with the top three player situation we have right now.

Non-neutral stage is a silly term - what exactly is your definition of a "neutral"? A liberal list of CPs can easily be explained - MK already has very strong CPs in Rainbow Cruise and Brinstar. With the majority of sets being bo3, he can only go to one CP stage per set. Adding more may benefit him slightly, but not by much, unless the stage added is significantly better for him than say, Brinstar. On the other hand, adding Yoshi's Island: Melee would give Olimar a shot at beating MK. As for starters, it's not obvious to me that he will dominate any more than with 5-starters. Does MK really like PS1? Castle Siege?
