Pauline Moveset

Pauline's default would be her dress from Odyssey and she would hold a microphone in her off-hand and would be accompanied by Tiara who takes the form of Pauline's Hat

Gimmick: Rhythm Meter, This meter increases the damage and size of certain moves, this meter charges by using certain moves. This meter decreases by taking damage.

Neutral Special: Sing, Pauline puts the microphone down and starts singing and snapping her fingers, an aura surrounds pauline and this aura slows and damages opponents caught in it. This move also increases her Rhythm meter. This move is affected by the rhythm meter making it bigger as the meter gets higher.

Side Special: Tiara Throw, Pauline throws her hat forwards and it acts as a projectile and stays in place for a bit, Pauline can then jump on it to gain some extra height.

Up Special: Superstar Jump!, Pauline Jumps into the air with musical notes surrounding her. enemies that touch the notes or the hearts take damage. This move is affected by the rhythm meter it deals more damage when the meter is high.

Down Special: Mini Pauline Metronome, Pauline places down a mini pauline. These mini paulines act as metronomes that keep time and fire a projectile forward in whatever direction they are facing. after a bit the Mini Pauline explodes stunning opponents next to it. This move increases the Rhythm meter when Pauline is next to them . This moves projectile increases size when the Rhythm meter is higher.

Final Smash

Break Free.

Pauline starts singing as many buildings from the New Donk City festival appear in the background and many music notes and fireworks shoot out from Pauline that follow opponents and damage them, She ends off with one giant explosion emitting from her. After the FS her Rhythm Meter Fills.
I don't think this moveset utilises music enough to be elegible unfortunately.

Pauline moveset
Pauline is all about the music - She's a lightweight glass cannon who is slow but immensely powerful, and also has a slight zoner-ish tint. Pauline shares Peach's float, it plays a harp sound in tune as she does. She taps her toes to the beat when idle.

Down B: Sing

Pauline sings a song - this is effectively Jigglypuff's Up B, however, she can also tilt the radius of her song similar to shield tilting.

B: Drum Bash

Pauline slams a drum stick forwards - this can reflect projectiles. If you hit a projectile, it will increase in size and power - you can hit a projectile 3 times before letting it go. It can also hit foes, but not 3 times in a row. Be warned though: reflecting a projectile with this move "Gordo-fies" it, so any move can reflect its new state back! Every projectile gets a special instrument for when it hits or gets reflected by a non-Pauline move

Up B: Guitar

Pauline strums down on a guitar, this sends a note projectile down like Zim or Toph's up B in NASB, but barely propells her up. She isn't left helpless after using this move.

Side B: Trombone

Pauline gets out a trombone to play a musical note - she doesn't do it automatically, instead you have to press the joystick backwards to make a note come out, the faster you do it the bigger and more powerful the projectile will be. The weaker notes just deal damage like Fox's blaster, while the more powerful ones cause knockback. This is a good if laggy move for zoning, but cannot KO on it's own and leaves Pauline vulnerable due to how laggy it can be to start or cancel.

Final Smash: Permamoon

In a short cutscene similar to that from Mario Odyssey, Pauline gets out a Moon as a small but powerful bumper-like item - it makes an Orchestra Hit sound every time someone is hit by it, and Pauline can heal from it. This is the weakest Final Smash, but it is also permanent - the moon never disappears.

Conquest: Dolphins (Mario, gives a Dolphin hat) or Sharks (Wario, gives a shark mouth hat)?

Pauline Moveset

Pauline's default would be her dress from Odyssey and she would hold a microphone in her off-hand.

Gimmick: Rhythm Meter, This meter increases the damage and size of certain moves, this meter charges by using certain moves. This meter decreases by taking damage.

Music Note Projectile: All Projectiles in her move set are Music note projectiles and these projectiles infect your opponent with an earworm which allows them to lose focus. This gives the opponent the ability to trip similar to that from brawl for a few seconds.

Side Special: Dissonant/Consonant Chord, Pauline stretches out her hand and belts out either a Dissonant Chord or a Consonant Chord. The Chords are 3 music note projectiles that move in a spread pattern. Dissonant Chords only appear when Pauline's Rhythm meter is less than 50% and they have a 100% chance to appear when the Rhythm meter is at 0%. Dissonant Chords deal more damage but have little to no knockback. Consonant Chords appear at all times except for when the rhythm meter is at 0%. Consonant Chords deal a lot of knockback and can KO at low-ish percentages.

Up Special: Superstar Jump!/Sound Shield, Superstar Jump! only appears in the air and Pauline Jumps into the air with musical notes and surrounding her. enemies that touch the notes or the hearts take damage. This move is affected by the rhythm meter it deals more damage when the meter is high. Sound Shield is on the ground, Pauline hums a tune and is surrounded with a measure of 5 Music Notes that protect her from attacks and deals damage to those who touch it. Sound shield consumes 10% of Paulines Rhythm meter.

Final Smash

Break Free.

Pauline starts singing as many buildings from the New Donk City festival appear in the background and many music notes and fireworks shoot out from Pauline that follow opponents and damage them, These projectiles only fire if you play the rhythm minigame that appears during this FS similar to DK's old FS. She ends off with one giant explosion emitting from her. After the FS her Rhythm Meter Fills.
Altered my submission a bit. I'm still not sure if this is good enough though.

Please vote here for her moveset

And here for Pauline's Final Smash. If Permamoon wins but cashregister's moveset, jumping into the moon will give Pauline extra rhythm meter.

  • Luigi Hat: A hat resembling a condensed version of the Poltergust.
  • Waluigi Hat: A Whiskered Eggplant.
Conquest:

2D - A Game and Watch Version of Mario's Cap

3D - A Low Polygon Version of Wario's Cap

Victory animations:

1. Pauline turns around and dramatically takes off her hat, similar to her entrance to the performance in Odyssey.

2. She does a small shuffle, similar to her animations in DK94, but in more of a dance-ish manner.

3. She Twirls and poses, like her entrance in Mario Tennis Aces.

4. She Does a portion of her dance from the Jump Up Super Star, ending in a Mario-type jump

Clapping:
She does a polite clap, similar to the other princesses, definitely a bit more of a golf clap, a bit harder, and a bit more "It is what it is" expression.

Submit a new piece of content for NDC Hall!

Please submit some form of modification or new content for the New Donk City Hall stage! Note that this cannot directly change the gameplay of the stage, but you can add an extra alternate version if you desire to change gameplay.

Submit 20 pieces of cosmetics based on Bandai-Namco properties!

Please submit 20 pieces of cosmetic content based on Bandai-Namco properties! Nothing is off-limits (within the age rating at least), but if you want to do just/mostly Pac-Man or whatever that's fine too. We'll do similar jobs like this for other companies involved in earlier Smash titles alongside Mario series newcomers, while guests will be accompanied by Nintendo series cosmetic sets. Like the previous job, the hat-to-trail-to-pattern distribution is also up to you. Ms. Pac-Man is elegible

Submit a new stage and 1 song!
This will be released alongside Pauline, but not bundled with her - so go crazy! Mario DLC stages will only get 1 song by default, which will be new - check the front page to see which songs are already in the game and therefore not usable, though if you can find a good remix you will be able to use that if the original is already there.

I seriously regret not submitting this for base game.

The red walls and ceiling have the same sticky mechanic as the Stickers stage - however, you can't go through them. There's only one way to KO - the Zinger in the middle, who will fly around and try to dodge foes, and if hit insta-KO regardless of damage. Trying to KO is a bigger challenge than not getting KO'd. Occasionally honey will drip from the ceiling and onto the floor, which makes walking slower.

New Donk City Hall Content: Mechawiggler Variant

The stage will have a chance of looking dark and rainy. Additionally, Mechawiggler will crawl around on some random sections of the stage in the background. It will occasionally fire 1-3 electric blasts across the playing field, which could damage the player.

I'm OK to accept this, but it'd need to be an alternate stage form (basically a 5th after default; Omega; Battlefield; and Ringout) rather than an RNG appearance due to changing gameplay.

I kind of want to replace Pauline's Hazards On cameo in New Donk City with another Mario singer (namely Mike) but since that would technically count as a new song I'm not sure.

I've always assumed the song-building gimmick to have been removed due to the lower amount of songs per stage not giving room for 2 different takes on the exact same song - do what you will with that info, wink wink.

New Donk City Hall change: Townspeople
After hearing that their respected leader got in Smash, the residents of New Donk City have gathered around the base and even climbed to the upper levels of City Hall to show their support for the fighters!

New Stage: SS Brass

A Corneria-styled floating ship stage with a brand new song to boot - Always Smiling - both from DDR Mario Mix. This stage takes place during 5-1 of that game, when you're flying it towards Bowser's Castle, so lots of Lava World stuff you've come to expect in the background.

Submit the second Mario DLC fighter and their hook!

Please submit the second DLC fighter from the Mario series, and a hook for them! However, there is a catch: I have temporarily reversed the ally contact promotion rule - you cannot submit a character who appears as an ally contact or stage hazard (that includes returning hazards like Nabbit), however, Fighter #6 (after this character and two guests) will be required to be a promoted ally contact, and from there the floodgates will be open.

Submit a promotional conquest!
Please submit a conquest that would promote some kind of product! It can be a work of fiction, but I'd advise against it as it'd disconfirm a rep for that, generally things like food and devices are what you want to aim for.

I will be resubmitting Cranky Kong

Cranky Kong

Mario’s original rival. His whole hook involves talk not being cheap and his moveset being based around…well, his stories about his youth. Truly, I’m surprised Cranky is not in this game despite being one of the first ever Mario characters to chronologically make their debut. Plus, there’s not many older adults represented on the roster. Thus, Cranky Kong makes his talks worth it in a fight.

Basically, I was thinking he can be a bit of a comic relief fighter. Each move involves him doing an action and gaining new voice lines about him talking about the old days throwing barrels and the liking. That’s what I’m thinking about for his hook.

Resubmitting Koopa (Para)Troopa

Hook: At the beginning of a match, you can build your ideal Koopa Troopa - turning on or off the shell and wings - Regular Koopa Troopa is a powerful but slow grounded fighter; Paratroopa is a powerful but slow air-based fighter; "naked" Koopa Troopa is a weak but speedy ground fighter; and "naked" Paratroopa is a weak but speedy air fighter. You can switch out your Koopa Troopa upon respawn every stock.

Conquest: Pepsi (Mario, Pepsi logo mask) vs. Pepsi Max (Wario, MAX wordmark necklace)
Let's go full consumerist, lmao

Submission: Shy Guy
I know Shy Guy's already been submitted in the past for a number of jobs, but I wanted to take a different approach with him. This may be somewhat controversial (hell, I don't even know if the hook will be strong enough), but I love this idea to absolute death and I feel it fits for what may be one of Shy Guy's most notable roles in the Mario franchise.

Instead of using abilities based on SMB2 or the Yoshi games, Shy Guy will be piloting a Standard Kart from the Mario Kart series. In Mario Kart DS and 7, Shy Guy is the only character available to those using DS Download Play, while he makes proper playable appearances in 7 and 8. With DS being one of the top three best-selling Mario Kart games (possibly second place if the Wii U and Switch version of MK8 are counted seperately), many Mario fans have had a blast playing with their buddies through Download Play, and I'm willing to wager more than a few of them took control of our favorite masked mook.

Enough MKDS bias, though. What's his hook?

As I mentioned, Shy Guy will be driving a Standard Kart, similarly to how Bowser Junior pilots the Koopa Clown Car. This gives Shy Guy a few different attributes than your average fighter:
  • Shy Guy has a VERY short first jump, but to compensate, he has no landing lag if he doesn't attack during it. In addition, his second jump makes use of MK8's anti-gravity mechanic, giving him a floaty midair jump similar to that of Rosalina.
  • Shy Guy's dash can deal damage and fixed knockback to opponents he runs into - Never enough to KO, but it's a rather high priority move.
  • Shy Guy can drift and boost by pressing the attack button during his turning around animation. The boost itself retains the "damage dash" property, dealing even more damage/knockback than the regular dash during the active frames.
However, all of this pales in comparison to Shy Guy's main mechanic; The Course Counter.

On Shy Guy's HUD, you will see a meter resembling what a straight road would look like on a Mario Kart minimap. However, you don't fill up this meter with attacks. Rather, you obtain meter via ground movement (dashing fills it up faster than "walking"). It takes considerably long to fill up, but once it does, Shy Guy enters what I'm calling the "Victory Lap" state, where he is faster, stronger, and has less lag frames on his attacks. This will last for the remainder of the stock. The best thing I can compare this mechanic to is the Egg mod from Rivals of Aether.

In short, I know this seems pretty complex and that it's not really a Shy Guy moveset as much as it is a Mario Kart moveset. However, with Mario Kart DS being one of my favorite Mario Karts, I wanted to represent our Download Play hero in some way. (If it helps, we can still sprinkle some SMB2/Yoshi references into his kit!)

Conquest: World Famous Fries (Mario) vs. Big Mac (Wario)
  • Fries Hat: A fry container hat.
  • Bic Mac Hat: A Big Mac.
Nintendo and McDonald's seem to be fairly good pals, seeing how often Mario Happy Meals are released.

I hate to double-post, but I just realized something; Would Shy Guy even be eligble due to his role on Block Fort? I'd argue that he still should be since this is a species we're talking about and not a single character like Nabbit, but I wanna be absolutely sure.
Hmm, I'll say yes as Shy Guy is a species, and there are Yoshies alongside the Shy Guys on Block Fort and Circuit U.

MECHA BOWSER

When playing as Mecha Bowser, it's impossible to not feel like you're living out childhood dreams of piloting a giant mech, controlling the different body parts individually while slowly but surely causing major amounts of destruction.
Up Special swaps control to Bowser's Head, Side Special to his arms, and Down Special to his legs. In each state, certain moves may not be available or are very weak, and certain things just cannot be done (like, if you're not controlling the legs you can't jump, and you can only do a really slow slide to get around, or if you're not controlling the arms you can't grab opponents or ledges). However, Mecha Bowser's good attacks are good, and he has a strong, unique neutral special for all three stances. Before the match starts you can click on the head, arms or legs to determine where you start off, but by default the player will start off in control of Mecha Bowser's legs. Swapping control from one body part to the other is very seamless, much like Pyra and Mythra's stance change.

Conquest: Xbox Series S (Mario) vs Xbox Series X (Wario)

King Bomb-Omb

I have no idea if he's disconfirmed or not. He's a pretty iconic Mario. He'll throw bomb ombs. He's a tricky fighter to use, because if he over exerts himself he may blow up, but this can be used to his advantage if you know what you're doing.

Army Dillo

The first and sixth boss of Donkey Kong 64, Army Dillo is a souped-up version of the original armys' from DKC1, made into a mechanical menace. His gimmick is Technical Difficulties. His metallic shell, cannons, and shockwaves sure are powerful, but if used too much they will break!

When his tech breaks, they punish the fighter. For example, like in the game, breaking the cannons will shock the fighter, and temporarily paralyzes the player. However, these punishes also will affect fighters in limited ranges; for example, if his metal shell is broken, it will explode, dealing damage to Army, but also sending a shockwave to hit nearby fighters. After his tech is broken, Army is limited to attacks such as shell rolling and jabs, making him closer to a normal armadillo again.

What makes this hook any different from say, Robin's limited use moves?

I should also remind everyone that hooks don't have to relate to gameplay, they can also be aesthetic or in relation to something like alts

Robin has limited use moves???

Anyway, when his tech breaks, they punish the fighter. For example, like in the game, breaking the cannons will shock the fighter, and temporarily paralyzes the player. Edit: adding this into the fighter's description
