...and the most clunky thread title award goes to...

Anyway, this thread is for a fighters pass featuring characters that could either "technically" get into Smash or are primarily known for their video game appearances. This means:

  • Characters from non-vg series that first appeared in video games
  • Characters from media that had licensed games released before their original media
  • Characters that didn't originate from video games but are mostly known for the games that they appear in
  • Characters related to digital technology or heavily related to video games as a concept
  • ...and more! Creativity is encouraged. So try to find unique characters to fit the prompt.
Though there will be one aspect that I thought of that I will veto. Video game adaptations of public domain characters will not be allowed. Though other forms of adaptation of them will be allowed if you can find another way to fit them in.

10 fighters this time around. There will also Bonus DLC style... uh... bonuses. Though since, by definition, these will all be new series to represent, more content from a character's home series will be allowed.

As always...

Job #1: Submit the first fighter

“Characters from non-vg series that first appeared in video games”

Presenting…
Anthrax

A character who first appeared in Shrek Super Slam, but has never appeared since. She’s a unicorn with a moveset somewhat based on Donkey’s… and that’s honestly all we know about her.

Starkiller

What happens when you make a Star Wars game where the playable character has no obligations to either side of the Force, is extremely strong with said Force, and will do anything to get what he wants? You get one of the most powerful characters within the entire not-quite-canon-universe of Star Wars. Starkiller is the protagonist of both Force Unleashed games and is pretty much unstoppable. He can dual-wield Lightsabers and use Force Lightning to its maximum potential, as the above image indicates, which already makes him really interesting from a fighter standpoint. There are other Star Wars game reps we could go for (like the more recently popular Cal Kestis) but Starkiller kind of marks a really unique time in Star Wars side media where you could get away with just about anything, like creating a character who could take on every single series protagonist at once and still have a decent shot at winning.

Geralt of Rivia (The witcher)
1665345279259.png
Geralt of Rivia is a main character from "The witcher" novel series written by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski. He is a magically enhanced monster-hunter known as a "witcher", who possesses supernatural abilities due to his mutations.
He was described by Péter Apor as a character embodying "the neo-liberal anti-politics" spirit of Polish popular culture of the 1990s, following his debut in the books and recognition throughout games and Netflix show.
Despite he debuted as literature character, he is more known by video game appearances.
Also his games were made by CD Projekt Red (the creators of infamous Cyberpunk 2077).

His moveset would be associated with weapons from games (or books technically) and his powers. He could also summon monsters from his series in some of attacks.
His playstyle would be somehow mix of Marth's and bait-and-punish (because he is the hunter) playstyle.

I nominate him, because his games are popular and he would be second character who didn't originate from USA, UK or Japan after Steve. Also the Witcher III was one of greatest games of all time, so his inclusion would make sense.

Android 21 (Dragon Ball FighterZ)

Android21LabCoat.png

Serving as the main antagonist of FighterZ, Android 21 is a video game character representing the Dragon Ball universe. She would be cracked and have a Dragon Rush gimmick. Plus, she would get into Smash before Goku will so haha Goku fans.

Thok

Thok was a Gamorrean guard that was seen for like two seconds in Return of the Jedi who was then added and fleshed out in the fighting game Star Wars Masters of Teras Kasi. So his debut was technically in a movie but come on does that really count? Why pick him though? Because when the announcer says his name it sounds like bad no no word and it’s funny.

Neutral B - Pepsi Can

Pepsi Man pulls out a Pepsi in his hand. Once thrown, it’s bounce onto the ground while damaging anyone to touch the can, causing low damage with little knockback. The Pepsi Can spam time is despite of how many players are in the stage and need some recharged time once you used all of the Pepsi Cans.

Side B - Pepsi Shake Up

Pepsi grabs a 2-Liter Pepsi as he starts shaking it vigorously. Once changed up, you can uncap the bottom to unleashed a fountain of Pepsi onto the opponents. The time spends changing the shake-up can rate the damage rate and how much the stream can reach.

Up B - Lemon Twist

Pepsi Man spirals upward while sprucing a lemon-shaped ski-mask. This move can damage any opponents rapidly if their get hit by this move. The spiral didn’t reach any height, it did have little distance with it’s come to vertically and horizontally recovery.

Down B - Pepsi Drink

Pepsi Man pulls out a can of Pepsi as he starts chugging down the drink. Once against, you can chug down the stuff for 5 seconds. From there, your stats will get boost up (Boosting Defense and Speed for Less Damage Rate). This last until 15 seconds, with the recharged time needing 30 seconds to be reused again.

Final Smash - Pepsi Madness

Pepsi Man dashes away as a giant Pepsi Can drop down rolling onto the middle of the stage. The giant can roll down slowly, with the size of the Pepsi Can despite the stage size. Anyone will get attack by this giant can will suffer heavy damage and high knockback range to theirs. Once the giant can leave the stage, you return back to the stage as the Final Smash ended.

Stage: Pepsi Jet

The fabled jet that started a lawsuit in 1996. Essentially just a really long FD with a slope and a few bumps, if you press down while standing on the window, you can briefly get inside the cockpit and tilt the stage upwards or downwards for half a second before being forced out, though if you get hit while in the cockpit you take extra knockback. It flies past Pepsi City, in all its distopian product placement glory.

Pepsi City

In this strangely Pepsi-obssesed city, fighters battle while chaos reigns. Out of control trucks, fire, and falling signs get in the way of the battle. What makes this stage unique is that it's actually technically a traveling stage. The camera moves forward just like in the original game with the fighters running along with it. If a wall or other object hits them, they'll be knocked back to an open side. I feel this could be a unique way to represent the original game's status as an endless runner.

Moveset:

Pepsiman is designed to be a fast rushdown character focused on catching opponents at the right moment. His normals are mainly the standard fighter moves with some slapstick accidents thrown in.

Neutral Special: Psshow! - Pepsiman extends his arm and makes his iconic "psshow" sound. This sends a bunch of Pepsi bubbles in a short distance in front of him. If an opponent gets caught in this, they'll be sent flying with a can of Pepsi in their hand!... at a very slight downwards angle, making this move work the best when an enemy is in the air and near the blast zone. Do note that while this move comes out quickly, it has considerable endlag.

Side Special: Trip - Pepsiman doubles over and trips onto the ground. Fighters hit by his body will take a large amount of damage and knockback. Be careful when you use this move though, as Pepsiman can fall off the stage! Has super armor.

Up Special: Bottle Rocket - Pepsiman takes out a shaken-up bottle of Pepsi and screws off the cap. The bottle then moves him in an erratic but generally up direction. At any time, Pepsiman can get off the rocket and cancel the move, putting him into freefall. The path the bottle takes is random and becomes more erratic the longer it's out.

Down Special: All Shaken Up - Pepsiman vigorously shakes for a bit, before gaining a stat boost. Fizzy bubbles will then appear around him and his normal attacks. Stat-wise, Pepsiman will deal 25% more damage but also take 25% more knockback and 50% more damage for 10 seconds. He will not be able to use the move for 60 seconds after it ends.

Subs will stay open for a bit more.

My moveset will be used. There is still a tie for Pepsiman's stage. Vote here:

Yesterday was a busy day for me, so Saturday and Sunday's jobs will be kinda squished together. Prepare for a doozy...

Submit Pepsiman's Mii Costumes

and

Vote For The Type of Extra Content for Pepsiman

and

Submit Pepsiman's Spirits and Assist Trophy

(The assist doesn't necessarily have to be from Pepsiman itself, but it does have to be related to the themes... which I didn't come up with yet.)

His themes are:

  • Drinks
  • Advertisements
  • Slapstick
  • Superheroes
  • Endless Runners
