Gimmicks:
  • Airdash - By double-tapping left or right in the air during a first jump, Sol will dash horizontally forwards or backwards mid-air.
  • Super Jump - By inputting down and then quickly up while on the ground, Sol will jump at a high vertical distance to catch opponents higher up in juggling..
  • Tension Gauge - When Sol attacks opponents or receives damage, the gauge will rise. However, he will lose Tension if he stands still, doesn’t attack or shields too often.
  • Faultless Defense - By pressing both "shield" and “special” buttons at the same time when attacked, Sol will become immune to shield damage in exchange for 25% Tension.
  • Roman Cancels- Allows Sol to extend his combos by spending a certain amount of Tension, being able to entirely cancel the animation of an attack he’s currently doing and suffering no end-lag. A cancel is indicated by the flash of aura he displays while using them.
    • Yellow Roman Cancel - Occurs when cancelling a move while an opponent is not in hit-stun or block-stun. Consumes 25% Tension.
    • Red Roman Cancel - Occurs when cancelling a move while an opponent is in hit-stun or block-stun. Consumes 50% Tension.
    • Purple Roman Cancel - Occurs when cancelling a move during recovery frames. Consumes 50% Tension.
  • Burst - By pressing the “special” button while in hit-stun, Sol will rise a short distance into the air and release a burst of energy, spawning a hitbox that knocks the opponent away. Requires 100% Tension.
Special Moves:
  • Neutral Special:
    • Ground: Gun Flame - Sol slams his Junkyard Dog Mk. III onto the ground, producing fiery pillars which travel along it. Pressing the button twice will fake out/"feint" a move as Sol just slams it onto the ground, but doesn’t create any flame pillars. Using the strong special button variant will slightly increase flame pillars’ damage and make them go faster.
    • Air: Sidewinder - Sol performs an aerial flaming straight punch, similar to Fafnir's. Using the strong special button variant will increase the move's damage.
  • Forward Special:
    • Light: Bandit Revolver - Sol jumps forward in an arc, while performing a two-hit overhead kick. Holding the button will increase the move's damage.
    • Strong: Bandit Bringer - Sol leaps forward in an arc and performs a lunging, downwards punch akin to Terry’s Power Dunk instead of a overhead kick. Just like Bandit Revolver, holding the button will increase the move's damage.
  • Back Special:
    • Ground: Fafnir - Sol engulfs his fist on fire and then quickly dashes forward while punching. Using the strong special button variant will increase the move's damage and distance.
    • Air: Riot Stamp - While in the air, Sol will leap forwards with his foot engulfed in flames. When connecting with an opponent, the kick will create a small explosion. Using the strong special button variant will make it stronger with a larger explosion.
  • Up Special: Volcanic Viper - Sol jumps up into the air, performing a flaming uppercut with his Junkyard Dog Mk. III. Pressing the button again will make Sol perform an aerial kick which spikes opponents. Using the strong special button variant will increase the move's damage and cause multiple hits while rising before a spiking kick.
  • Down Special:
    • Ground: Night Raid Vortex - Sol glides across the ground while keeping his stance low before delivering an explosive blow, launching an opponent into the air. Holding the button will extend the distance Sol moves. The move can be used to evade high attacks and projectiles. Using the strong special button variant will make an uppercut much stronger.
    • Air: Break - While in the air, Sol will perform a flaming kick downwards that explodes when he lands, working similarly to Captain Falcon's aerial Down Special. Using the strong special button variant will make a move much stronger.
  • Final Smash: Branding Breach - Sol performs Fafnir to hit any opponents to trigger a cutscene. When done, Sol will charge up his Junkyard Dog Mk. III, jabbing opponents onto the gun barrel and then fires a massive laser beam out of their backs. If Sol kills the last opponent with a Final Smash while they’re over 100%, a special victory screen will play in which he is seen with his back turned to the camera, standing up, turning around and facing the camera as he says “You’re still just medium rare.”, complete with a “DESTROYED” banner from the Guilty Gear games.
Overdrives:
  • Tyrant Rave (→ ↘↙ ← →) - Sol performs a flaming gut punch, which stuns the opponent in-front of him and then uses his Junkyard Dog Mk. III to deliver an extremely powerful flame blast, which launches them away. Costs 50% Tension to use and a stronger version (Tyrant Rave ver. Beta, which is inputted with → ↘↙ ← → + strong special button) requires a full gauge.
  • Dragon Install (↓ ↙ ← ↓ ↙←) - Sol activates his Dragon Install form by overflowing himself with power, making himself glow red across his body to increase his damage and movement/attack speed for 10 seconds. It also makes his special moves far more powerful than strong special button variations. Costs 50% Tension.
    • Gun Flame - Becomes a strong, single flame pillar with a larger, higher hit-box.
    • Sidewinder - Now has increased range and damage, akin to Fafnir.
    • Bandit Revolver - Produces a larger damaging kick with an explosive effect.
    • Bandit Bringer - A hit-box extends both in-front of and behind Sol, with increased damage.
    • Fafnir - Propels Sol even further with increased attack range and damage.
    • Riot Stamp - Becomes much quicker and more powerful, even spiking an opponent when connecting a kick.
    • Volcanic Viper - A uppercut is much stronger and has more horizontal/vertical recovery.
    • Night Raid Vortex - Has farther rushing distance and stronger damage.
    • Break - Becomes faster, has a vacuum effect and makes a more powerful explosion upon hit.
    • Tyrant Rave - A flame burst becomes larger and travels farther, doing multiple hits.
    • Air Throw - Turns into P.B.B, a dashing command grab, which has a much stronger explosion.
  • Heavy Mob Cemetery (↓ ↙ ← ↓ ↙ ← + Dragon Install) - When in his Dragon Install form, Sol transforms into a much stronger form, lunging forwards with his wings (having super armor during this). If he hits an opponent, he will grab them, flying up and slamming them down with a huge fiery explosion, causing massive damage. Costs 50% Tension.
Champion of Hyrule Champion of Hyrule That's a huge shame, I voted on Oolong, since I wanted to see how he would work in a platform fighting game (seems like AlRex AlRex knows) and I'm into older, obscure non-discussed games that aren't brought up at all.

Please submit a character who debuted from 1995-1999. Please submit a character, explain who they are and a bit about how they fight, and why they should be in this game.

Nightmare (Soul Calibur)

I think we should build on our roster by adding more archetypes and a heavy sword user would be a good one. Also more Villains is always a good shout.

Going to resubmit Inferno

Inferno (Soul Calibur)

A major villain from the Soul Calibur series, In Soul Calibur 2 his boss fight mirrors the player so I imagine his moveset could use this to borrow from many of the popular fighters from that game & serve as a great general rep. for the series.

I'll submit Makoto from Street Fighter III: Third Strike
Makoto (Street Fighter)

Makoto is one of the more popular characters introduced in the street fighter 3 games and I think that and her unique playstyle would make her a good pick for another character and another street fighter character. It may seem weird to add another street fighter character so soon but it is pretty much a guarantee that street fighter will get another character, and probably even at least two, so I think we could get it out of the way now and I think the character in question would be a good pick since not that many crossovers get representation from street fighter 3 so early on

Tina Armstrong is from Dead or Alive, a major fighting game series that debuted around this time, getting 2 games in. I pick her because she’s a wrestler, and I think she’d potentially be a fun take on that general archetype, being a super-American lady rather than a regular buff dude.

Sorry everyone but I think I’ll put this thread on hiatus for now. It’s not because of lack of submissions it’s just because I’ve been pretty busy lately and I’m currently trying to run four creation threads at a time. I’ll come back to this eventually, especially because some of them are on the verge of being finished soon, but for now this thread is gonna take a break. Thanks for submitting content everyone.

I’ll count the votes before that though:
Nightmare 8
Inferno 3
Makoto 4
Tina 3

And so Nightmare will be added to the roster!

Understandable. Real life should always take focus. I look forward to it coming back.

Hey everyone, thanks for the patience. I think this thread will resume some time on January 31st so please wait just a bit further until then.

When this thread starts up again I think we will do movesets after all. Now that im not running three creation threads at once I think I can give this thread more attention and make it better.

Okay... so I know I said I'm going to resume this thread on January 31st but instead I think I'll start a job now and it'll close on the 31st, so I'll start Job #10 meaning the hiatus ends... now:

Job #10: Submit A Character From An Unrepresented Series
Submit a character from a fighting game series that isn't represented as of now. Please submit a character, explain who they are and how they fight, and why they should be added to this game.

Now we don't really have movesets done yet and have stages to do so we'll catch up to them soon but I just wanna do a character job now because this thread has been on hiatus for so long. I'm excited to finally restart this thread.

Going to re-submit Sub-Zero

Sub-Zero (Mortal Kombat - 1992)

Mortal Kombat is one of the most popular & recognizable fighters out there. Feel like Scorpion & Sub-Zero are the 2 biggest icons from the game. Even though Scorpion may have a little bit of an edge as the face of the series i feel like having Sub-Zero's ice based moveset would be more interesting for a platform fighter.

Resubmitting Arizona
Arizona (Them's Fightin' Herds)
1643424091133.png

Champ'een of the Prairie

Arizona is one of the main characters in the game Them's FIghtin' Herds, a game full of ungulates trying to become the Key Keeper and save their world from the Predators. Arizona is a Calf of The Prairie, and is fighting to make her homeland proud.

Arizona would be a rushdown fighter with short range but some tools to compensate with high speed and a lasso, she can stomp the ground so much to cause an earthquake, and is really strong.

Arizona should be considered because she'd be extremely unique variety from what I'd assume would mainly be a cast of humanoid characters, and I think she would have a fun transition to Platform fighting.
Also would like to add that we have enough important character representation that I feel adding a less-obligatory character would be great now, we can get a bit weird at this point, and there's not anything else I feel I did pretty good at the explanation the first time I just had bad timing.

Akira

Virtua Fighter feels like one of the big seires currently left out of the roster. It was a staple of the Arcades and is super popular competivly. While some may say that Akira looks too similar to Ryu, they play completely differently, and Akira does have other looks we could use if we feel that is an issue.

This one's for you, Mr. Robotto Mr. Robotto .

Job #10: Unrepped Series Fighter - Terry Bogard (Fatal Fury)

Some of you probably saw this coming as he was in Smash before, but I was admittedly surprised when Kyo was brought up as the first SNK fighter over him in this project, though I'm fine since others like Iori tend to be asked over as he officially doesn't have a crossover guest role yet.

Anyway, Terry Bogard is the main protagonist of the Fatal Fury series created by SNK Corporation for their Neo-Geo console/arcade-hybrid system in 1991, the same year when Capcom released Street Fighter II: The World Warrior, designed by Takashi Nishiyama who even created the first Street Fighter game itself. It is known for it's two-plane system, that allowed fighters to dodge their opponent's attacks by stepping between the planes. The franchise itself received the prequel series (Art of Fighting, which had Geese as a secret final boss in the second game, like how Ryo Sakazaki did in Fatal Fury Special, which started "dream matches" in SNK's history), a trilogy of anime/OVAs, mangas, drama CDs and even guest appearances for various games like Geese in Tekken 7, Mai in Dead or Alive 5, etc.

The Legendary Hungry Wolf himself, Terry is an American fighter who entered the worldwide "The King of Fighters" tournament alongside his younger brother Andy and friend Joe Higashi, to avenge his adoptive father, Jeff Bogard, by going after his murderer, Geese Howard, later on becoming the surrogate father for his son Rock, after he finally died in Real Bout Fatal Fury. He became SNK's most iconic character and their mascot after Athena, prominently appearing on their merchandise and even regularly in their flagship series, The King of Fighters, and appeared as a guest character in other games, including the Capcom vs. SNK series, Arika’s Fighting EX Layer and Nintendo's famous Super Smash Bros. series, which's creator Masahiro Sakurai himself was inspired by SNK's games.

Terry is an all-around fighter who uses a mixture of various martial arts styles such as boxing, karate, kung-fu, kickboxing and street fighting moves to create a very unique fighting style, mixed in with chi techniques learned from his Hakkyokuseiken master, Tung Fu Rue, that allows him to perform various of his signature techniques such as (obviously, he wouldn't use the MAX Mode gimmick unlike Kyo):
  • Power Wave: Terry punches the ground, creating an energy wave that travels forward across the ground.
  • Round Wave: Same as Power Wave, except that Terry creates a short-ranged shockwave blast instead when punching the ground.
  • Burning Knuckle: Terry dashes forward with his arm extended while it's surrounded with blue energy, knocking the opponent in-front of him.
  • Crack Shoot: Terry jumps forward in an arc as he flips with his foot outstretched while performing an overhead axe kick.
  • Rising Tackle: Terry jumps into the air and spins around upside-down with his foot upwards, performing an anti-air corkscrew kick that hits multiple times.
  • Power Dunk: Terry leaps into the air, hitting the opponent twice with his knee and then performs a downward-angled diving punch towards the ground like a slam dunk technique in basketball matches, considering his love of the sport itself.
  • Power Charge: Terry charges forward on the ground, hitting the opponent with a shoulder tackle.
  • Power Geyser: Charging up chi energy into his fist, Terry punches the ground so hard that it will erupt a big geyser of energy in-front of him.
  • Buster Wolf: Terry quickly rushes forward with his fist extended as he shouts his infamous "Are you okay?". If he hits an opponent, he will create a energy explosion with a second strike by punching with the same fist to send them flying away.
  • Triple Geyser: Same as Power Geyser, except that Terry punches the ground three times to summon a chain of three consecutive Power Geysers forward instead. Following three moves can be used for a Final Smash-like ultimate move akin to Triple Wolf, next ones replacing Power Dunk and Buster Wolf respectively.
  • Star Dunk Volcano: A powered-up version of the Power Dunk technique, which Terry starts by performing a brutal knee strike on the opponent's stomach, launching them into the air. He then catches them with a Power Dunk and upon descending, creates a huge geyser upon impact which surges through the opponent, launching them airborne.
  • Stardust Ignition: Terry's new Climax Super Special Move in The King of Fighters XV, in which he tackles the opponent before uppercutting them and charging enough chi into his fist to make a large pillar of chi strike them, acting like a combination of Power Geyser and Buster Wolf, as he calls it: "Buster Geyser!"

Job about Unrepresented Fighters:
Sukapon (Joy Mech Fight)

Sukapon
is main character of Nintendo's obscure 1993 game "Joy Mech Fight", released on Famicom exclusively in Japan. He's a robot, who was made for Militaristic purposes, but he was actually builded for Owarai Comedy.
Then Dr. Walnut became every evil and he tried to take over the world and Sukapon went for adventure to defeat him by fight multiple robots with fighting skills. Each of them had abilities that Sukapon coukd have them. When he was fighting with Honou on Moon, he won and Dr. Walnut became good after that.
After the Game's story, Sukapon returned to his Comedy career.

He could have really interesting moveset potential, like he could throw his head or even could do his Sukapon Roll. His Final Smash could make everyone laugh non-stop, which it makes him more powerful.
He could be Grappler that focuses on Grabbing enemies with his hands.

I nominate him, because he could first Nintendo rep that could join the crossover of Fighting Game platform fighter. Besides that, he could really have unique moveset potential and he would be one of Obscure characters that could join the Roster.
We never had a Nintendo Character, so why not put Sukapon in it?

In any case, my submission will be Orcane (Rivals of Aether)

We do not have platform fighters yet represented. Orcane would be perfect to represent the genre. He originally started as Vaporeon in Dan Fornace's demake Super Smash Land. Since then, Orcane has been used to represent the Rivals franchise since then in games like Fraymakers. He can fight with his puddles as well as not be able to grab ledge (like in the original Rivals game) as well as have no shield and rely on parries.
