Official Smash Ultimate Discussion

Almost one month has passed since release. In retrospect....

  • This is by far the best Smash ever. Like, I don't even know how they will top this.

  • Pretty freakin' good; I have a few qualms over things like internet play, balancing issues, etc.

  • It's ok, but [insert Smash game here] is better.

  • I'd rather play Parcheesi.

That would help a bit, but I think Steve’s animations are inherently too stiff to work all that well.
Well, as another example that I think I heard somewhere, they managed to make minimal articulation work for 3-soon-to-be-4 feature length LEGO movies, surely it can work in a fighting game, too?

But, what really matters is if Sakurai can see it “dancing in his head” so to speak, of course, so, yeah, hmm.

The lack of facial expressions is still really awkward IMO, though, I wonder if they’d be willing to embellish that or not.

He'd be our third edible fighter rep after Yoshi and Falco.
I mean anything's edible if you're strong and willing enough. Or something.
The Miis and Villager can emote, and have some shed of personalitiy, even if not as much as some of the other characters. That puts them a step above Steve in my eyes.
Personally, Steve having a name puts him higher up for me than Villager, Wii Fit Trainer, etc.

On that first thing, difference is those movies are entirely lego, every character is stiff so it doesn’t seem odd to the audience. In smash most characters have smooth animation, so Steve would stick out in a a bad way. Other things you said are valid.

Risque Operating Buddy?

Ducks have wings. The Pits have wings.
What do fried angel wings taste like?
Is :ultpit: a people with bird wings attached

Or is he a bird with a people attached to the roots of his wings?

Hmm, fair enough... A better example for a character in Smash with stiff animations isn’t G&W, but rather, the Sukapon AT, whose animations aren’t very smooth at all despite having floating limbs that’d allow him to theoretically have much smoother animations. The way I imagine Steve acting has smoother animations than that despite less articulation. Of course, that isn’t necessarily the way Sakurai would see it if he’s considering it, though.

Fortnite is a fine game in its own right, but I've legit seen kids addicted to it like it's crack. Honest-to-God withdrawal symptoms when they were forced to stop playing. Fair or not, that's colored my perception of the game and its fanbase.

To be honest, kids can get addicted to pretty much anything.

Not sure about that one. There are several games I was addicted to as a kid, but I don't see people ****ting on...

Believe me, I do think we will get more DLC after the 5 fighter packs are released, as this Smash is selling extremely well, plus there are still a few fan favorite requests that have yet to be made playable. Being an AT is not an explict deconfirmation for DLC, only for the base game

Why do Pokemon forums suck so much?
I'm not being biased either. I hung around Serebii Forums for a while before coming here and I did not enjoy myself. Everyone there was either smug or ridiculous.

I just wanna talk about Pokemon without going off topic!

I can be smug here too if you'd like.
It's easy for me because I'm better than everyone else.
