Why is everyone discussing Dragon Quest? Did Vergeben flat out say the Square-Enix character was going to be someone from Dragon Quest, or was there some other leak that happened today?

Dragon Quest is definitely among the biggest Japanese game franchises left (may even be the biggest) without any sort of content in Ultimate. Its only problem is simply is that it lacks a "Cloud" so to speak, someone everyone knows. The closest is Slime, but I am not sure whether we would get another generic mook so soon after Piranha Plant.

That being said, I think Dragon Quest is the most likely franchise to be the source of Square-Enix's second character. If not Dragon Quest, then Geno.

Well I guess that leaves only three DLC slots left. Two already went to JRPG franchises. I wonder where the other three will go. It would be pretty weird if another slot went to Tales (Lloyd).

Personally, I am still banking on one of the three going to a Microsoft character (I personally see Banjo-Kazooie). I have no idea on the other two.

A few days ago a made an official prediction that we'll get Frisk or another Undertale character as dlc. I'm just gonna keep bringing up Undertale so if I get it right I can brag for all eternity.

I think I've already spoken to what I think would be the optimal FE based Smash roster:

1. Marth (First Lord)
2. Ike (Most popular male Lord)
3. Lyn (Most popular female Lord)
4. Robin (Most popular game)
5. Anna (Most recurring character)

And if we were to get a hypothetical 6, I'd actually make a bunch of alts of the "light" swordsmanship and the "heavy" swordsmanship.

• Light: Marth, Seliph, Eirika, Eliwood, Eirika.
• Heavy: Alm, Sigurd, Leif, Roy, Chrom, Lucina.

I am too lazy/busy to get the numbers for Bayo 1 though, but I'd imagine that it's similar case of Switch outsleling the Wii U version-- mostly due to pricing in this case

But I still think they could've pulled from more games beyond Shadow Dragon, Awakening, and Fates.

Beyond just Lyn and Celica.

TBH JRPGs are quite diverse in their sub categories. Much like Platformers with Simon, Richter, Sonic, and Mega Man.

-Dragon Quest represents the traditional Turn Based JRPG.

-Final Fantasy has the Active Time Battle style where a character & enemies turns are dictated by a bar and time respectively.

-Persona has aspects of Dating Sims, Dungeon Crawlers and RPG.

-Tales is an Action RPG or fighting Game & JRPG hybrid.

You know how there's Pokken, which is a Pokemon fighting game in the style of Tekken?
Why not do a Fire Emblem fighting game in the style of Soul Caliber?
Like Tekken (and Smash 4 and Ultimate), Soul Caliber is Bandai Namco, so it wouldn't be too much of a hassle for Nintendo to collaborate with.

I've seen this idea thrown around before, and I think it would be genius.
