Just had a thought right now. It would have been funny if we got Dante, Raiden, and Heihachi in the base roster. We would have 3 characters who started off in Playstation All-Stars before moving over to the better Smash, lmao.

I unironically want Master Chief even though he upsets the second-most important criteria in Smash. He would be a very welcome trend-breaker given his iconic status in video game history. With Nintendo and Microsoft being chummy lately, it's just all the better. If Sony plays nice in the next generation, who knows? We might get a true port of Ultimate that adds someone like Kratos or Ratchet & Clank.

Fate/Stay The Night was a VN that kicked off the whole Fate/ franchise, yes.

Though keep in mind if you see a version of her in red it's Nero --yes that Nero --and if it looks like she changed her hair a bit and donned a different costume altogether it's another completely different character.

All this talk about changes to characters makes me hope Bowser Jr. fans don't force themselves to move on. He actually didn't get nerfed that hard as some people might think.

Don't ever let tier lists dissuade you from playing a character you love. Look at Jigglypuff in Melee. Back in the early days, she was considered a low-tier, and look at her now. The game's meta will evolve but only if we push every single character to their limit and find how to make them work. Not to mention that patches will probably shake things up every once in a while.

And I think it also makes no sense that Marth is cloned off of Lucina and uses her as a base in that game. Like Smash, it's a case of asset reuse.

I could just as easily point towards Fire Emblem Warriors and say that that proves my point that Marth fights nothing alike, but neither that nor Marth's appearance as an Amiibo in Fates or as a Streetpass Polaris in Awakening are exactly canon.

But let's get back to canon:
Lucina could literally not possibly fight anything like Marth in canon. Period.

We only got 11 newcomers in the base game, 5 of which are Echo Fighters, but even besides the stages, I'm very happy that we're finally getting

• rule sets we can save
• a hazard toggle
• online matchmaking based on rules rather than extremes between all casual or all Final Destination (which isn't competitive)
• a single player story mode
• parrying being based on releasing rather than pressing the shield button
• throw techs
• stamina battles as its own setting
• the ability to make matches where each stock is a different character
• dodging becoming worse the more you do it

ALL of which should have been in the previous games. I honestly think the de-emphasis on new fighters finally got the Smash team to turn their focus onto the rest of the game for improvements, including all the previous quality of life improvements. If I'm right about this, then I'm perfectly fine that the amount of unique newcomers is smaller this time--Smash is more than just the characters after all.

Also, it's an eroge VN where the "ero" part was tacked on because the publisher was pushing for it and apparently was in general half-assed, with many later releases altering the explicitly erotic parts entirely.

Ahh so you're saying both games have gameplay? Even though your view of what makes a game a game is limited?
I hope I don't come off as a rude, but it's kinda absurd to, assumedly, be fine with Wright joining but not Saber because both are visual novels. To different degrees but both are games.
There's a ton more issues surrounding Saber lol you don't need to worry about her getting in. Just feels wrong binning her due to the content of her game.

The problem I see for Geno is unfortunately Square themselves. We know from Cloud that their approach to Smash is business-first, no-fun-allowed: if they're going to be in this, I'd wager they're only in it to make money--and not just from shares in DLC revenue, but also though advertising. I'm sure they know Geno is a popular pick among Smash fans, hence them licensing him for the Mii costume (and apparently the Spirit/player icon?), but I'm not convinced that, given the option of giving Nintendo another character, they'd see him as a big enough draw for the general audience. Certainly they could let Nintendo use him in future Mario games (Who am I kidding?), but besides Virtual Console and the SNES Classic, they wouldn't get much for advertising out of him either.

Just my thoughts, anyway. It could be in 2-3 months that we get Geno Shoots for the Stars and I look like an idiot. Never stop dreaming until the end.

-Warriors is not canon and did not exist back in Smash 4. Skip.
-Outrealms are canon to FE lore so it is, in fact possible that Lucina saw how Marth fights
-It isn't even some deeply complex fighting style, it's a fencing one. The whole point is to have Lucina as the refined and regal one while Chrom is the unrefined and brute one. Which, you know, reflects their ingame stats which is also completely different.
-Literally the only thing that supports "Lucina and Chrom fight the same" is the "Who taught you to fight like that?" "My father!" exchange which doesn't mean **** lorewise because that's not how you develop a sword style(I don't ****ing see Alm fighting around like Mycen, do I?) and it's just supposed to be a retroactive funny quote because Lucina is talking about Chrom so the excahnge translates as:
"Damn this ***** fights well who taught you how to do that?"
"Lol you"

I mean...

Cloud got a stage with a ton of fun elements that weren't actually needed. He also got a fresh alt costume that wasn't actually needed. He also got 2 songs just like other franchises in 4. i think you're being too strict there. Squenix was totally willing to play ball with Sakurai. The issue with the music does not come from Squenix but from FF's composer.

Really the Squenix characters come on a case by case basis. I feel Geno's a name to keep in mind at least.

Also, "Geno Shoots for the Stars" is the tagline I want too, if Geno ever gets in!!
