I mean, I like to think people like my spontaneous essays because they make sense/speak some sort of truth.

Another piece of truth ima drop for all y'all before I leave for a brief amount of time. The Smash community loves to disconfirm characters a small pocket doesn't like.

I've seen plenty of times that Rex & Pyra get **** on. If you don't like JRPGs, then that's fine. As a progressive individual myself, I do find some of the designs of the characters in Xenoblade Chronicles 2...off putting. However, if you can't look past it and look at the game for what it is, I think that's incredibly shortsighted.

I've never seen an argument against Rex because of success of the game, or because of his gameplay potential. Every time, the discussion is shut down because "bare skin". Well, guess who has more bare skin showing that Pyra would? ****ing SHULK.

If they had a problem with the bare skin, they'd edit Pyra (if she'd even be with Rex at this point) and could edit it in a similar way to how they edited Female Corrin.

Even better, the fact that Rex was on his own as a Mii Fighter costume suggests they might not even put Pyra as a playable character with him, save for maybe a Final Smash. That eliminates the entire sexual issue, if it even is a serious issue to begin with.

Not trying to rustle any jimmies, but I saw some crushinating of Xenoblade discussion earlier, and now the thread is back to "leakers", "Granblue" and "Steve" for the 100th time. You guys sometimes complain about getting bored, but it's because the same topics are recycled over and over, and any time something new or outside the box comes up it gets told, "Not happening" and then it goes back to the same old discussion.

i mean, some people might have a reaction if I said what character I personally find as poor choices, but that doesn't really matter, does it? That sort of thing doesn't produce positive conversation or anything constructive.

That is pretty much what I'm banking on happening, actually. THEN people can actually be pleasantly surprised. I just hope there won't be a Grinch Leak 2: Electric Boogaloo in the meantime.

I recall that until this guy popped up people like Arigarmy had to argue for Steve's case every day. People just refused to believe he'd be in over B&K. Him being in wasn't always as commonplace.

You may not feel you have reason to believe he's right but you also have no reason to give others biased misinfo.

More stuff for Hitagi's credibility that I personally have seen, there might even be more I don't know about:

- Vergeben trusts him and says some of his info matches with his. Vergeben has said he hasn't heard Granblue but that he trusts in Hitagi that talks did occur.

- He leaked the new Samurai Showdown game before any announcements about it and has already leaked multiple characters, all of which were right.

- Pretty sure he was amongst the first to report on this whole "Switch Pro" thing that got a lot of traction.

You all should actually play the game instead of looking at the roster for one second and then going straight back to DLC speculation.

Something to think about with DLC this time. I feel like people are doing the same things we've always done, and are applying rules to things that the community focuses on, and because of it may end up getting BTFO in the end.

Or at least it seems almost like exactly the same thing every time. Granted, we make rules because we are trying to find ways to narrow down who is in, but these "rules" are arbitrary and in reality, we don't know how any of this is going to pan out. We have a few rumors going around that have a sort of validity because of who is spreading it, but beyond that we've got nothing.

Now, I might be in the minority. But I absolutely think there's no reason to believe Spirits or Mii Fighter costumes disconfirm anyone for DLC at this point in time. If more information comes out that deliberately says, "If they show up here, they won't be playable", then we've got a concrete rule. Other than that, consider the possibilities. Basically, if Sakurai comes out in Famitsu and says, "Yeah Rex isn't going to be playable", then BAM!, it's decided. But until we get that, I see no reason to rule that sort of thing out.

Anyway, Spirits were deliberately noted as a replacement for trophies. In Smash Wii U, Lucas and Mewtwo started as trophies, and then received their very own Fighter trophies when they were DLC. This is extremely similar to the way spirits would work. The equivalent would be, "Oh look, they have a generic spirit." Then once they're downloaded, "Oh look, they have a fighter spirit!" That right there tells me there's nothing to worry about.

If a character with a Spirit becomes playable, they will receive a fighter spirit. It's just like how Mewtwo and Lucas had generic trophies and then had Fighter Trophies after.

Furthermore, with the whole Miif Fighter costume thing. Plenty of people seem to think Rex is basically screwed for DLC, but I don't think it's that clear at this point. Sure, he's got a Mii Fighter costume. Sure, we've never seen a Mii Fighter get the playable character in the same game. However, there's no pattern to be following, and what was true for Smash 4 with the Mii Fighters could absolutely be different. The way I see it, if they revealed the Chrom Mii Fighter costume first, plenty of fans would have assumed Chrom was out. It's quite the opposite however. Chrom is also in Robin's Final Smash (one of the most ridiculous things about this game I might add). Just something to think about.

Prior to the tweets from Sakurai after the Direct stating that the "DLC characters were picked" everyone assumed that what Sakurai meant by his statements on Rex being too late to be in game was meant to cover base roster and DLC. While there may have been talks of who they would include ahead of time, Sakurai himself tweeted that they were decided after the Direct, which to me, greatly shakes things up.

I think the pool of fighters that have a chance at DLC is pretty interesting. I think it will absolutely be a mix of 3rd parties and marketing, but keep in mind that they (Nintendo) aren't going to:

1) Force Sakurai to develop the characters they want
2) Not do market research to find out what will make them plenty of money/invest in series that can make them more money down the line

This is yet another reason, and I'm sure it's annoying at this point, that I wouldn't count Rex out. Rex and Pyra were easily one of Japan's top newcomer choices, and not adding them (or Elma) would be...an interesting decision. While Xenoblade isn't a huge series by any means, it's a budding one. If the don't add a character now, that seems like a missed opportunity to me at least.

Just keep an open mind and don't let these "rules" discount literally hundreds of options. I wouldn't count on Assist Trophies though, those ****ers are disconfirmed imo simply based on the effort and time the development of them took.

In the same vein of Assist Trophies taking time and effort, I have to say the Rex Mii fighter costume is pretty good looking. The sword has flame particle effects, Gramps is in the helmet, and I'm pretty sure his anchor hook thing is also there. It makes me think two things: they put a lot of effort into it to really try and sell you that it's Rex or it's possible they could use some of those assets for Rex if he were DLC in the future. Wishful thinking has me with the second one, but it's also very likely the first.

dragon quest 11, if you like rpgs. lots of content, great story and gameplay, could definitely tide you over for a week or two

It's the same order as Smash 3DS (with the new characters added obviously). Meaning character release from oldest to newest, and then it loops.

It's cool, definitely. I wouldn't recommend playing it on PC unless you have a powerful PC and a controller to go with it though.

Wasn't Senran Kagura datamined? Not that I hope it's the 5th series, no offense to its fans but I have absolutely no interest in SK. That said, I think we already know what it is then at this point.

Gravity Rush if you have a PS4. Both those games are great but unfortunately didn't sell all too well.

It'll keep you busy, that's for sure.

It's also an amazing game with great gameplay, story, and characters. I can't recommend it enough.
