Almost one month has passed since release. In retrospect....

  • This is by far the best Smash ever. Like, I don't even know how they will top this.

  • Pretty freakin' good; I have a few qualms over things like internet play, balancing issues, etc.

  • It's ok, but [insert Smash game here] is better.

  • I'd rather play Parcheesi.

Here is something to chew about Elma fans worried she may never have another opportunity to ever be playable in Smash Bros. Think about Dark Samus. Dark Samus's time more or less to be added as a playable character was with Brawl. By the time Smash 4 was released, Prime 3 was already seven years old. Fans of the character were even pleasantly surprised by the fact the character got an Assist Trophy. Yet it was probably the existence of said Assist Trophy that even made Sakurai aware of the character. Prime 3 coming out after Brawl in Japan was likely the cause for this, and Sakurai likely wanted to throw a bone to the only other Metroid game to be released after Brawl (most of Smash 4's Metroid content was derived from either past Smash Bros. games or Other M).

A year ago, who would have thought that out of Donkey Kong, Metroid, Kirby, and Star Fox, that Metroid would be the first series to reach four playable characters in Smash Bros.? When Sakurai had already said Ridley was too big? When Dark Samus was from a game over ten years and likely never coming back? When Sylux's break out role title (likely Prime 4) did not even have a release date? When Dixie Kong, Bandanna Dee, and Krystal each individually seemed to have more support than both Dark Samus and Sylux combined?

And now look at the roster. Both Ridley and Dark Samus are playable. I would never have believed that this was a plausible scenario a year ago if you told me.

..I don't really see how them liking a tweet saying Shantae for smash would be breaking NDA, or deconfirms her.

Breaking NDA or deconfirming her would be outright stating "No, she's not in Smash," or the exact opposite.

Emerald for Nostalgia. I actually didn't get into FE until way later.

Oh yeah, I'd pay for DLC costumes for probably every fighter. If they do end up happening, I'd like to see costume bundles to help ease the burden on my wallet. If no bundles happen, depending on how many would end up being released, then I'd probably just stick to purchasing new ones for my mains/secondaries.

Gen 4 Darkrai - Already in the game
Gen 5: Victini - Would do the same thing as it did in Smash 4
Gen 6: Meowstic - Both the male and female forms would hop around the stage and uses Psybeam
Gen 7: Litten - Shoots a hairball of flames... (though having Incineroar being playable would be fine by me too)

This is all said and good, but this will hold some real weight if we get a new F-Zero character in this game that’s NOT an echo fighter

Problem with this line of logic is that Dark Samus is an Echo Fighter.

Dark Samus was added as a clone of Samus, a character already in the game, whereas Elma would be her own character. So that would probably change the circumstances.

I'm pretty sure that's why they throw out infractions like Halloween candy. Just so they can keep a track record in case it becomes a persistent problem.

Still. I can't imagine a scenario where they have to lookup that time when I posted an image and only four characters. :smash:

The point went over your heads. The point is that many speculators (including myself) could not see possible factors that would even lead to a character like Dark Samus ever becoming a viable choice for Smash Bros. again.

Heck, most speculators would never have believed Young Link or Pichu would ever come back for a Smash Bros. title.

For all we know, Elma could end up having her game ported late in the Switch's life, it becomes a break out hit, and she becomes a front runner for the next console's Smash Bros. title.

Something interesting I noticed.

Just looked at how many views each of the character videos has on Youtube. :ultkrool: has the most, with :ultisabelle: following close behind, while :ultolimar: is the only character with less than 100K views.
