RIP Music Theory. 'Twas entertaining, but even as someone who believed it for a time, it stretched things a lot to make itself work.

Now, if a certain box could be crushed next, that would be just swell. Although in fairness, it is very likely the next batch of news is the final one, so it won't really matter by then anyway.

Unless music theory became convoluted or changed dramatically a core aspect of it was that each series would only get 1 song

It means that someone like Geno, Bandana Dee, or Incineroar can still get a song posted along with their reveal even if there's already a Mario, Kirby, and Pokemon song.

I said nah because I disagree with the notion that someone could magically do something to revive Smash 4's competitive scene.

And no, I am going to blame DLC. People HAVE been learning to play around DLC characters. They've been doing so for 2 years because their livelihood kinda DEPENDS on it. The issue is when playing around that DLC becomes how the meta is defined. When your meta devolves to "do you stand a chance against this one character? If not pick someone else" then yeah, less and less people will want to play or watch your game.

I'l conced to your second point, however much it feel like people played top tier more than they played around them, but to your first point, I said nothing about reviving, I meant more along the lines of helping it before it started it's downward slope.

Music Theory involved the same series not getting two songs, and series with a song already wouldn't get a newcomer or another newcomer. If a series can get two songs, there's no reason another series can't get two songs with one being for a newcomer.

However you slice it, it's dead.

The Music Theory hinged on two things

1) Music updates always accompany newcomers. This was true for every character so far, Isabelle basically confirmed this.

2) There is no repeat music from the same series. This on the other hand, is dead.

That means series that already had music on the site aren't exempt from getting a newcomer that can have a new music update coinciding with them.

Not to be a party pooper, but, I don't exactly think this disproves music theory as much as it proves that the smash blog can have multiple tracks from the same franchise.

I don't even believe in the theory, but the music theory postulates that newcomers have music assigned to them that only gets released when they are announced, which has remained true for Ridley, KRool, and Simon.

The only thing that would theoretically break music theory would be something like a newcomer from a franchise that already has music on the blog (the most obvious being Incineroar)

The only reason music theory "deconfirmed" characters was the fact that each series would only get 1 song.

If series can get more than 1 song, that means the song can still be uploaded with the character, even if they already have music on the site.

I don't think there is any reason to believe a corrupted music theory that states each series can get multiple songs but no songs will be uploaded until a character is revealed for that series if they are getting one.

Yeah no.

Didn't Sakurai say in an interview that one of the composers really liked FE music, so that we'll be getting a lot of it? There's probably nothing more to it then that - we got two FE songs because there's a lot of FE songs. I really doubt we'll be getting more FE characters in the base roster, especially if they're unique.
