What are your expectations/dreams/fears for the next Direct?

Dreams: reveal the New Pokemon in Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee to give me some incentive to buy the darn game because it does not look good right now.

Expectations: Online info so I know what i'm gonna be paying 20 bucks for.
Super Mario Party.
Some lame info on Pikachu/Eevee giving me even more reasons to not buy the thing.

Remember how there were two mushroom icons for some reason? What if one is for main series and one is for spin offs? And what if the blog posts reflect that by posting two Mario tracks instead of one? SMRPG was a spin off title afterall.

The blog would have been more interesting if they didn't reveal that all previous characters were returning at E3. I know that Sakurai just wants to stay ahead of the leaks, but I miss the Brawl and Smash 4 days of speculating about which characters were going to return.

The music theory doesn’t work unless we stop magically deciding who it works for and who it works against. If a Mario series track is loaded onto the site and people are now suddenly saying it disconfirms Geno (which assumes he would even have the Mario series symbol) then this theory should also disconfirm:

Now, i’ve already seen people claim it doesn’t matter with Street Fighter or Metroid because, “B-but they’re not unique! That doesn’t count!” Folks, that’s called moving the goalposts. That means that you change the argument to suit the information when what you originally said was disproven.

In this case it’s changing the argument from, “The music disconfirms X character” to “It still disconfirms X character even though it meant/will mean nothing for characters Y and Z because reasons.”

I mean, i’m not surprised this is the latest argument to be made. I think it’s more of a “I don’t want Geno in this game, so i’m going to pretend this means something it doesn’t” than it meaning anything, and I especially don’t think it means anything because the fanbase itself just suddenly made up a rule about website updates.

It’s literally the equivalent of me saying, “Welp, they uploaded all the characters from X series. No way they add somebody else now!” That’s extremely dumb. There is no evidence to prove it, there’s actually evidence to DISprove it when it comes to the music, yet we’re hanging onto this bull**** for whatever reason.

The music uploads mean nothing aside from it being a sample track from the game. The website is literally run by interns who have messed up horribly already, with some characters being uploaded on the wrong day, or not being updated at all, or only being updated on particular country’s versions of the site.

It’s the hottest of takes, and isn’t looking at it critically.

The minimal amount of info we're getting on the Let's Go games is disconcerting. Is it a remake or does it just take place in the Kanto region? There's familiar dialogue and Team Rocket from Yellow version, but then there is that bland over friendly rival character that's clearly not Blue. Having Pokemon walk beside you is a cool concept, but that was already done in Heartgold and Soulsilver and isn't enough to get me interested.

I expect nothing that interests me from the next direct.

I'd expect Prime 4 and Bayonetta 3 info at The Game Awards. Nintendo supports the hell out if that thing. Pikmin 4 is as mysterious as it is "complete". Seriously, Miyamoto said it was what, 80% complete like 3 years ago? That development cycle is stressful to even me.

People really need to divorce who they really want for Smash versus who they "just know is a definite inclusion". They aren't the same instances. Its a bad mindset.
I really want Decidueye and Rex, at no point am I saying we're 99.9999/100% for sure guaranteed getting either.

It's been quite literally said it's a Yellow version remake/reboot. There's not anything to be confused about really. Whatever extra stuff they add will either be a surprise or present closer to release. Also Heartgold is not even barely close to what Let's Go is doing with integrating Pokémon in the overworld.

I guarantee you it's literally just a Pokemon Yellow remake with nothing different except for the Pokemon Go mechanics copy-pasted in to appeal to the mobile market.
Great for the kiddies, sucks for anyone else not blinded by Kanto nostalgia.

Nintendo Switch Online
We're gonna get a good overview and we're gonna have NES and SNES games revealed. Might be a kin to how they handled revealing general stuff back from the January 2017 Event, presentation-wise. And of course, people will be upset no matter what when they're the same people who bought hundreds of dollars on AA batteries for their Wiimotes.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
At this point, I just wanna see Isaac fans happy. Isaac gets revealed and we get another Golden Sun remix at long last, with the website updating shortly after. MAYBE a tease for what's to come in the future?

Pokemon: Let's Go! Pikachu / Eevee
They'll find someway to squeeze in some info about this. I feel as if we already know a lot about this game, but they wanna push this HARD for their one of two pillars for the Holiday.

New Super Mario Bros. Deluxe
John from Spawn Wave knew about this months before people like Liam Robertson spoke about it, and it makes sense to fill in the Fall lineup with another Wii U port. Would rather have something else, but people bought NSMBU, so WHEEEE.

Metroid Prime 4 + Bayonetta 3 + Yoshi's Flippy Ding-Dong Dippy
It's been more than a year since they were revealed at E3 last year, and almost a year, in Bayonetta 3's case. They at this point need to be shown so we at least know they're around and the progress of said projects.

I just want the rumors to be convicted fake or real. Who knows, honestly.

Mainly of first party and third party stuff, with some games that haven't been shown be included to save time.

Unannounced Panic Button Port
If I remember correctly, there was one more Panic Button port to be rumored to have come out soon aside from DOOM: Eternal and Warframe. Like Star Fox, who knows.

That's about it. We're probably gonna get a good amount of surprises, but these things I expect at the very least.

Dreams: Chorus Kids, Skull Kid, Phoenix Wright, Geno, or anybody else I really want character reveal

Fears: Isaac, Elma, or another character announcement that I don't really care too much about, and thus having to wait probably quite a while more until the next character reveal.

Be like me and just assume none of your characters are actually going to get in in the first place.

Silvally suffers from quadruped syndrome, Dillon is from a niche budget franchise no one cares about, and the BK's armor would overcomplicate the echo process.

I'm only slightly depressed that none of them will probably be in! If I can't have Silvally at least give me a Gladion theme remix pls Sakurai I'm begging you.

Regarding Music: I don't see why they can't make exceptions for characters, or simply restrict the song to their reveal; Bloody Tears / Monster Dance didn't even play in Simon & Richter's reveal. Even if the icons wouldn't look diverse, at least the music would be, and it's not like the amount of characters and such already make the game seem to have a diverse set of stuff; plus, I bet most people would hardly even care.

On the topic of how I feel about the blog and Ultimate's method of reveals: While I loved the way Brawl handled it's pre-release, I didn't really enjoy 4's. The information gaps it had were crazy, and it made me feel like the game was announced too soon. I personally never really found the Pic of the Day all that exciting. I liked that they announced every character that was returning right away, as it really hit that "Everyone is Here!" concept home for me. No waiting worried an old favorite wasn't coming back; just bam, here ya go! I was having a particularly crummy E3 up till that point, so I was absolutely thrilled to get hype veteran announcements back to back. It really saved the event for me. And yeah, showing off all that stuff meant the blog would unfortunately have to repeat it so that the new stuff could be saved for later, but that doesn't really bother me given how short the pre-release period is this go around.

On a similar note, I love the way Nintendo has handled their game reveals lately. They keep primary focus on what's coming in the current year rather than trying to tease us with pointless CGI trailers with no gameplay to back them up and vague "It's coming maybe, probably, someday, hopefully!" statements. While I'm not always against that method of announcement, I don't really like it either. TBH the only reason I wasn't disappointed with Prime 4 being revealed as a TBD with a logo was because of the series' circumstances: It was a franchise in limbo that needed reassurance to the fans that it wasn't dead. Plus, it was the Switch's first year, I understand Nintendo wanted to make at least one or two looking forward announcements to help give early adopters an idea of what the next few years would look like.

I know some people like to know about things ASAP regardless of how soon it's coming and have big speculation periods, and that's cool; different people like different things and all. For me though, I don't really wanna know a game exists unless I'm gonna play it this year.

Just my ramblings on the matter, though. I love the way this game has been handling it's info dumps; the gaps are reasonable, and help make the short wait until release feel even shorter for me personally.
