This week or next. You guys think they will be a Direct this week or nah
I didn’t either. Meant as a joke. I really need to use emoticons more or something.I didn't even bring their credibility (or lack of thereof) into the argument.
I'm leaning towards it being next week if we're getting one at all. If we hit next Saturday and nothing happens, though, I don't think we're gonna get one.You guys think they will be a Direct this week or nah
S'all good.I didn’t either. Meant as a joke. I really need to use emoticons more or something.
Seriously though, online services are coming, and we know nothing.I'm leaning towards it being next week if we're getting one at all. If we hit next Saturday and nothing happens, though, I don't think we're gonna get one.
I dunno, we went through all of July without anything. Not this week, but probably next week. It seems about that time, doesn't it?
But we already know of at least three other Mario remixes; the ones in Luigi, Bowser, and Bowser Jr.'s character videos, and two of those characters have been addressed on the blog (dunno if Luigi had his yet).Diversity in the music samples on the blog will give the impression that the 800 songs will be equally diverse and exciting. It sets a good first impression, it's good marketing.
One of the ways to help this impression of musical diversity is to avoid repeats in IP they're pulling the music from. So if they are wanting to market the game as well as possible, it makes sense to limit blog music to one song per franchise, which as I said before is easy to do.
It also makes sense for any unique newcomers to come with a new song. After all, even when we don't get a new stage (K Rool), we at least get a new song. This pattern can break, yes, but the reason why people believe it will hold is it's just good marketing.
Taking these together, a song from an IP seems to suggest they may not have a new character from that IP. Of course there's no guarantee, it's just an assumption Nintendo will want good marketing....
...but then again, Nintendo, as people repeatedly point out, don't take advantage of other easy marketing wins like tieing announcements/releases to related holidays. Sometimes some obvious marketing just isn't done cuz Nintendo gotta Nintendo.
At this point, would be best to do next weekYou guys think they will be a Direct this week or nah
Nintendo indirect! Coming to you live from somewhere else.Seriously though, online services are coming, and we know nothing.
How could we not be getting a direct?
This is why I feel we're gonna get a Direct this Thursday, because we still don't know even the date of when it launches. It could launch on the 21st, even.Seriously though, online services are coming, and we know nothing.
How could we not be getting a direct?
They could just tweet out details about it like they have been doing up to now. They actually made one today:Seriously though, online services are coming, and we know nothing.
How could we not be getting a direct?
No, I'm not talking about what songs are revealed, I'm talking about which ones get a spotlight in the music blog. It's more the when you look at that section, it sets a better impression if all the icons are differentOK sure but we already know of at least three other Mario remixes; the ones in Luigi, Bowser, and Bowser Jr.'s character videos, and two of those characters have been addressed on the blog (dunno if Luigi had his yet).
If they REALLY wanted to keep those songs secret, ergo do what this theory says they'll do, those character videos wouldn't have those remixes.
Back during the Smash 4 Direct, 4 trophies were shown off between segmentsWhich one was this again?
Looks like all is right in the world with you being the anti-Opossum.smw is better than smb3
Nope. I fully believe we'll simply see a single informational video describing nintendo's online services. You guys think they will be a Direct this week or nah
While I don't think there's a question if there's a September Direct, as they usually do. I do have doubts that it'll relate to anything online. Everything so far has been relegated to their website, and I would think "Why properly market a service now when you've shown no intention to do so previously?" That having been said, with the datamine showing classic controllers, I think there may be more features then they're letting on (the SNES through me for a loop), so while I don't expect them to talk about online in the Direct itself, it could be mentioned briefly, but I'm still not expecting much. Nintendo's a great company, but when marketing their online they've dropped the ball one too many times already. This week or next.
It isnt even a thought.
its a necessity.
Nintendo is risking a lot with online play. They are having a direct.
Why is this even in question?
Nintendo Switch OnlineWhat are your expectations/dreams/fears for the next Direct?
>he doesn't just go straight up to the last page and reads the last 3 postsNo shame in skipping to the latest 3 pages from now on.
Yeah, the blog is run terribly haha.I agree with Enchess in the sense that it makes sense for the Music Theory to be right, as it would be optimal marketing, but that's exactly why I'm doubtful. The way Nintendo has handled the blog is bafflingly bad lol.

I used to go through every page when I wake up from sleep, but then this thread started getting progressively faster...>he doesn't just go straight up to the last page and reads the last 3 posts
Personally I think no.. it is much too soon. You guys think they will be a Direct this week or nah
Man, this theory is ridiculous.Back during the Smash 4 Direct, 4 trophies were shown off between segments

It got a lot of traction and really didn't die until the game leaked.
You can see how well that went.

I'm pretty much in it now just for info on whatever the heck Spirits is and if Isabelle is in or not. After I get info on those two things, I'll pretty much be good to just chill while waiting for release. What are your expectations/dreams/fears for the next Direct?
Expect: Switch online details, one Smash reveal at the end with a unique fighter, deeper info on Three Houses and Daemon X Machina, quick reels of third party/indies.What are your expectations/dreams/fears for the next Direct?
You definitely know how to get my attention...Expect: Switch online details, one Smash reveal at the end, deeper info on Three Houses and Daemon X Machina, quick reels of third party/indies.
Dreams: A second Smash reveal, this one at the very beginning. Unique fighter + echo. Pikmin 4, Metroid Prime 4, YOSHI'S FLIPPING ISLAND
Fears: Literally just Switch online details with some random indies strewn about and one Smash reveal, the bare minimum. People will still be happy afterwards.
I'll forever be sad that E3 leak was fake because Yoshi's Flipping Island is just too godly of a name.Expect: Switch online details, one Smash reveal at the end, deeper info on Three Houses and Daemon X Machina, quick reels of third party/indies.

Regardless of what the new Yoshi is called, it'll always be Yoshi's Flipping Island in my heart. You definitely know how to get my attention...![]()
Lost Levels....Dark Souls doesn’t know what difficulty is.So is SMB2
and not Lost Levels
The blog would have been more interesting if they didn't reveal that all previous characters were returning at E3. I know that Sakurai just wants to stay ahead of the leaks, but I miss the Brawl and Smash 4 days of speculating about which characters were going to return. The blog hasn't been bad really. It reminds people of content in the game while giving a snippet of one new music track per week. It's not as exciting as previous sites with Brawl's being the gold standard, but it's a question of reward in added sales versus cost of maintaining the updates and this is clearly really, really easy.
