First of all, I just want to say I have a metric ton of respect for Verde Coeden Scalesworth . There's few things I respect more then someone who has power and uses it responsibly. Good moderation is what keeps me coming back to forums like this and it's always super reassuring to see one who's mature and responsible enough to put their own biases aside and do their job as they should.

Anyway, we're discussing our favorite mons of each gen? Well here's mine.

1) Mewtwo - I could write an essay on why I love this monster.
2) Suicune - Just a lovely design.
3) Sableye - Would have said Absol once upon a time, but Sableye has one of my favorite mega forms.
4) Giratina - Has cool typing and a cool design.
5) Zoroark - Illusion is a very fun ability to mess around with.
6) Aegislash - Really novel idea in its stance change ability, and I love the idea of a haunted sword. Proof Pokemon still has creativity.
7) Type: Null - Currently my all-time favorite monster. I may or may not love him for similar reasons to Mewtwo.

Man, aside from Suicune, this list really makes me look like an edgelord.

Not to be antagonistic but to play devil's advocate here, couldn't you say that about most Mario tie-in franchises? Hell even main line Mario games can be vastly different aesthetically and mechanically.

I believe it was that lovably cynical ******* Yashee Crowshaw who said that the term "Mario Game" has lost all meaning as it could mean anything from Super Mario to 64 to Galaxy to Odyssey to Kart to Golf to RPG to Paper to Maker to Striker etc.

Then you get to the tie-in franchises like Luigi's Mansion and Captain Toad, all of these still under the Mario umbrella, but all very distinct types of games.

Yoshi certainly isn't that far of a disconnect from Mario games

I consider Mario, Super Mario/Mario Land, Mario 64/Sunshine/Galaxy/Odyssey, Mario 3D _____, and Mario Maker to all be distinct series personally. But I agree with the family tree sentiment.

Donkey Kong arcade is the root. Then theres a split with Donkey Kong and Mario overseries (not sure what actual term is). Within Mario overseries is the platformer series, RPG series, sports series, Luigis Mansion series, and Mario Party series. Within the platform series, there are the following distincy subseries: 2D Mario, 64 style Mario, 3D Land style Mario, Yoshi series, and Wario series.

So Yoshi, Wario, Luigis Mansion, and DKC all are distinct from mainline Mario with DK being furthest separated, followed by Luigi, then Wario, then Yoshi. But all, including Mario, fall under DK as the top root series.

Wario in general needs to make a comeback. It's one of those series where Nintendo just lets itself do whatever, which I think is good for fostering creativity within the company. WarioWare is good for that too (and hopefully Gold isn't the end of that), but Nintendo could afford to have a few more experiments going.

Ah, the SMT/Persona fan divide. Classic.

While most of those comments are just subjective nonsense or weird priorities, I gotta to give a solid "oof" to the comment about Good/Evil routes. As while SMT has been heading towards having more typically "good" endings (Strange Journey Redux, I'm looking at you), that still requires an impressive amount of not paying attention to the game.

I'm completely fine with liking one series over another, but come on, "The Dark Souls of Persona" hurts me in multiple ways.

For the sake of my sanity, I decided to focus on archiving supposed leaks and reporting interesting and noteworthy ones here. I’ve abandoned the count and sessions, as those both took up too much time.

If you want, I can pull up the amount of times a specific character has been mentioned.

Waluigi won't get in Smash until he gets into a proper game. He also won't get into WarioWare either. Best chance he'll ever get is if there's a new Wario Land game, though I admit a Wario & Waluigi game sounds neat. Maybe there could be a 6th M&L game where you have to use both sets of bros, sorta like how BIS alternated between the Bros and Bowser. Or just make all four of them playable at the same time (that totally won't get too chaotic, I promise. I have personal experience. Heh)

And while we're on the subject of WarioWare, it does indeed make sense for it to get a new rep in Ultimate. Nintendo's been pushing Gold quite a bit, and it's got some pretty consistent sales numbers too. The two options that do make the most sense would be Mona (who would fight with all the various wacky microgame elements), or Kat & Ana (who would obviously be a duo character like the icies, but with ninja stuff instead of hammers and ice). I'd personally be fine with either option (tho I'd prefer the twins).

Also, right now, Kat & Ana honestly are looking pretty likely. I guess the same could be said of several missing Assist Trophies, but I've got a gut feeling that they might just make the cut this time around. Try checking out the thread supporting them. Some very good and interesting points were made.

The hardest part of dropping out of my Master's was losing sense of superiority.
Although I've since found half a Master's actually gets a similar reaction from people as a completed Master's for some reason
