Official Smash Ultimate Discussion

Almost one month has passed since release. In retrospect....

  • This is by far the best Smash ever. Like, I don't even know how they will top this.

  • Pretty freakin' good; I have a few qualms over things like internet play, balancing issues, etc.

  • It's ok, but [insert Smash game here] is better.

  • I'd rather play Parcheesi.

Hope my boi's DJ Armor is strong enough to tank Giga Bowser's fist :yoshi:
Well now I'm just imagining Yoshi as a DJ.
What kind of music would Yoshi play at a party?
This is an intense conversation. Let's talk about what kind of coffee Ridley would like instead.
Pitch black, like his soul.

Hello everyone. After pulling an all-nighter to finish Persona 5 and then recovering from said all-nighter, I'm back with an absolute unit of a session. I've got 3 days worth of supposed leaks (around 40 to be specific), so be prepared. I'm not going to be commenting on any of these either because there are so many.

August 3rd EVO is not a important announcement for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, because this is not a Music day in Super Smash Blog. So Heihachi **** get BTFO'd.

The direct will start on August 29th (Music Wednesday in the Super Smash Blog).

>The trailer starts with the title screen menu and then goes to the main menu and then goes to the Solo menu for info about this menu.
>Classic mode and Tournament mode are the focused returning modes,
>Almost all previous modes from other Super Smash Bros titles confirmed returning.
>New modes are confirmed, but only one is announced, others will be revealed later.
>The new mode will be the primary way to get unlockable characters.
>Stadium modes are shown.
>Multiplayer-focused (referring the ones that works with Switch's LAN features) modes are shown next.
>Special Smash, Smash Tour, and Smash Run are returning, a new mode is confirmed and it will be revealed later.
>Online menu info is shown.
>Options menu info is shown.
>Sound test, stage builder, challenges, trophies and the trophy shop, replays, movies, records, and masterpieces are confirmed returning along with Amiibo functionality being shown.
>Trophies are shown
>Previously Wii U exclusive trophies are returning
>Previously 3DS exclusive trophies are getting their first time returning in HD
>For the first time there will be trophies from various adaptations of video game franchises with the first being Ash from the main Pokemon Anime that was added to tie in with Greninja's updated final smash.
>A gameplay montage of new stuff added to ultimate.
>New items and Assist trophies (Some returning (Ashley and etc.) and others new (the reveal of the "Ramblin' Evil Mushroom" as a Assist trophy and etc.)) are shown.
>Almost every character will have 10 and more alternative costumes.
>Characters are shown, one of which is Yoshi's white alt costume along with a new one.
>Ridley is revealed to have the most alternative costumes of every character (8 Meta Ridley costumes are shown).
>Greninja now has his "Ash-Greninja" form for the Secret Ninja Attack final smash (which is the reason why there is a Ash trophy).
>Lucario's Aura Storm returns, Lucario still has his Mega form in the final smash.
>Yoshi's final smash and Diddy's final smash are revealed to be changed.
>Young Link's final smash and Robin's final smash are not shown at all, likely to avoid spoilers.
>More differences between Daisy and Peach are shown. A picture of the Daisy Smash amiibo is revealed and the amiibo is confirmed coming next year.
>Isabelle is confirmed to be a Echo Fighter to Villager. Her attacks are 2x faster and weaker than Villager.
>New stages are shown, New Donk City stage is fully revealed.
>Lastly, it ends with a trailer of Lloyd Irving from Tales of Symphonia. Animated scenes are done by Production I.G (The studio behind Thanatos Rising and Tales of Symphonia).
>The Super Smash Blog posts the music that appears in the trailer along with a poster being made for the newcomer.
Smash leak.

Hello, look ahead for today-Sunday for a new Smash character. Expect Springman/Ribbon Girl joining the battle. Springman has a lot of work done on him. Yet the characters were finalized before Springman was a thing, Sakurai was planning a lot more characters for the roster. Like Heihachi and Springman. But he choose 1 character after the characters were finalized. Springman. He has a unique moveset. In the trailer, it also looks like Twintelle is a assist, and all the Arms reps are trophies besides the DLC. Sadly Heihachi isn't joining the roster, but sadly he is a Mii costume still, and now a assist. There is more characters coming. Lana from Hyrule Warriors got her part in. There is more. I will tell you about them in the near future.
> Sprigman. As he gets revealed today-Sunday, his final smash is similar to little mac, gets right to the punching.
> Lana. Her reveal should be near end of August or beginning of September. Her final smash is a little clip like Megaman and Shulk and more. She has help by Impa, and the defeat the openet.
I have some information on the new Super Smash Bros. Ultimate game for Nintendo switch. I have information on characters, stages, and some assist trophies.

- Mr. AR from Nintendo 3DS AR games will appear, this is believed to be the “3DS representive” trophie

The stages

- Amibo stage

Spiral Mountian will have the theme from both Banjo Kazzoie Nuts and Bolts, and Banjo Kazzoie Remix will be in?

Sorry my English is bad, I am using Google Translate to translate this since I am Chinese.
Nintendo Direct August 20th

This direct will feature announcements for new ports, DLC and games.
-The first announcement will show Isabelle as a playable Fighter in Super Smash Bros Ultimate. She will be a semi-clone of Villager, but she will have some unique moves.
-Wind Waker HD, Twilight Princess HD and Super Mario Maker will be ported onto the Switch. They will be released around the Holiday Season.

-A remastered Golden Sun trilogy will be announced for Switch, that will have all 3 games in HD. Nintendo is testing the popularity of the series, and will consider a new game if this remaster sells well. It will be released mid 2019.
-Isaac will also be shown as a playable fighter in Super Smash Bros Ultimate.
-Fallout 4 will be ported onto Switch on January 23rd.
-Grand Theft Auto V will be ported onto Switch on December 15th.

-The final reveal will be for a new 2D overhead Zelda game called The Legend of Zelda: Destiny of the Hero which will be released in mid-late 2019.
Here it is, fresh Smash Leaks.

Simon Belmon, King K. Rool, Isabelle, Genos, Sora, Agumon, Dark Samus, Rex

>Simon uses a lot of cool whipping moves and a small sword.
>King K. Rool uses his various gimmiks from DK country. From mad scentist, to pirate his outfits are part of his moveset.
>Isabelle is an echo of Villager,
>Genos uses most his attacks from SMRPG. As well as a few other tricks Sakurai added for fun.
>Sora was arranged between Disney, Square and Nomura (whom had to be exclusively asked first). He plays much like Robin using magic for his specials and his keyblade for his smash attacks.
>Bandai Namco is keeping secrets about Digimon's 20th anniversary but he's still coming to Smash. With Digimon Survive not being the only Digimon Switch game planned.
>Dark Samus is an echo of Samus
>Rex is in the game, using his moves like Anchor Shot, Sword Bash, Double spinning Edge and can switch blades. The blades are in the background like Pokemon Trainer. Rex is better on the ground because the blades can't jump with him and the farther he gets from the blade the more it nerfs him.

I also want to add the trailer for Sora is going to be quite funny with Rex liking his attitude. They are both late additions too. Expect the trailer late November.
I got some juicy details from a friend of mine that works at Namco on Ultimate that he just couldn’t keep to himself. I know this is going to immediately raise a red flag, but I have no idea whether any of this is true or not. I’m just the messenger. He also wanted to remain anonymous so he doesn’t get fired. So take everything here with a grain of salt.

>Newcomers yet to be revealed: Chibi-Robo, Chrom*, Dark Samus*, Hades, Isabelle*, K. Rool, Ms. Pac-Man*, Pheromosa, Rayman, Simon Belmont, Velvet Crowe, and Waddle Dee
(* = Echo Fighter)

New single-player mode called Smash Quest, heavily inspired by the Great Cave Offensive. Players traverse through an expansive map with multiple routes as they collect treasures, overcome challenges, recruit other fighters to your party, and fight bosses. There are cutscenes based on the character you pick, but nowhere near the level of Subspace.
Alright, Imma get straight to the point. I have a friend who works at Bandai Namco, and he's given me a few juicy details about Smash Ultimate. I'm pretty damn sure these are true, but take it with a grain of salt. He could be blue balling me, after all.

There are 6 true-and-honest newcomers, with 3 echo fighters. The echo fighters are:

> Daisy (Echo for Peach, already confirmed)
> Isabelle (Echo for Villager)
> Dark Samus (Echo for Samus)
I've been told Shadow was considered as a possible echo fighter, but he ended up being cut very early on.

The newcomers are:
> Ridley (already confirmed)
> Simon Belmont
> Mimikyu
> Ashley
> Skull Kid
> One more I'm not sure of. He's explicitely not telling me anything, so I have suspicisions that the character won't be revealed pre-release.
Bandana Dee, similar to Shadow, was also considered originally, but was cut early on. Both Shadow and Dee have a very good chance of returning through DLC if they do it, though my friend doesn't know much about if they'll be doing it.

He has also given me a few details about stages:
> Rainbow Road (3DS)
> Big Battlefield (Wii U)
> Dream Land (3DS)
> Fountain of Dreams (Melee)
> Mario Bros. (Brawl)
> Hanenbow (Brawl)
> Pac-Maze (3DS)
> Brinstar Depths (Melee)

And for new stages.
> Park Avenue (Sonic Forces)
> Bowser's Castle (Mario. Not sure if it's specifically from one incarnation, or a hybrid of many.)
> Dedede Ring (Kirby Super Star Ultra)
> Akihabara (Project X Zone)
> Excitebike
> Pictochat 3

I don't know much about assist trophies, but I have been told of 2.
> Akuma (Street Fighter. When activated, he performs the Raging Demon, which is an insta-kill on whoever it lands on.)
> Cranky Kong (Donkey Kong. When activated, he'll move around and try to pogo onto the fighters, like in Tropical Freeze. Can be KO'd.)
Also, I've been told the assist trophy for Nightmare that appeared in Smash 4 has mysteriously dissapeared in Ultimate. No idea if that's supposed to mean anything.

so yeah
Hello fellas, I was in the office with other Nintendo folks because we work on the Smash team and we got a look at a lot of stuff. And other stuff like a list of stuff that is planned but not ready.
> New Fighters
> Simon Belmont, he will get announced in October, he has Red hair, and then for another alt is blonde. His amiibo figure was also found, they are doing the same thing with Bayonetta, Corrin, and Cloud where they have 2 amiibos.
> King K Rool, doesn't know when he is announced, I haven’t seen his amiibo. He is a heavy character, like Bowser.
> Lana, I know it seems weird, but Lana is joining the battle. She has the exact move set in Hyrule Warriors. Sakurai is trying to make each fighter to be from a different game.
> Banjo&Kazooie, you are probably happy about this. His amiibo is really cool.
> Surprisingly, Baby Mario and Baby Luigi is joining the roster. They are like the Ice Climbers. They have a unique moveset.
> Echoes
> Isabelle
> Shadow
> Assist Trophies are, Rabbids, still Dillion, Ashley, and Isaac are assist., Wart, Sylux, Labo man, Birdo, Urbosa, Wonder Red, Guardian, and more.
> Nintendo is also planning, but not ready, DLC alts. So that means we can get a Splatoon 2 alt, Bayonetta 3 alt, and more. I hope you are excited. DLC is not even close on being planned, well for characters. Some other characters were picked but got cut, like Dr. Luigi, and Yooka Laylee over Banjo.
Hello, I know you all are waiting for a new character in Smash. Yesterday, I found the whole roster. Let’s go.
> Simon Belmont is joining the battle.
> I don’t know why, but Baby Mario and Baby Luigi are joining Smash. Apparently they were top 15 in the Ballot, so Sakurai put him in. But who knows if this is true.
> Tails is also joining the roster. He was even planned for Smash 4.
> Lana, she was very popular in the roster. It seems like she was the most voted Zelda character in the ballot. Shocking.
> King K Rool, he was number 1 in the ballot so here he is.
> Echo fighters.
> Pokemon Trainer Echo, the Pokemon is Blastoise, Bulbasaur, and Charmander.
> Shadow, goes along with the announcement of Tails.
Already peeps, this September, a direct will come. Don’t Know When. It is about 45 min. Surprise no headlines. They will come back though, maybe for the next direct. Here we go

>A Monster Hunter from the Monster Hunter series

1533416333375.png

Peach's Castle (64), Kongo Jungle, Fountain of Dreams, Rainbow Cruise, Yoshi's Island (Melee), Pirate Ship, Golden Plains, Paper Mario, Gamer, Jungle Hijinks, Orbital Gate Assault, and Woolly World are our remaining returning stages.

Remaining newcomers stages are Gangplank Galleon, Ultra Space, Castle Dracula, Bowser's Castle, and Excite Bike tracks.

All past modes except for Subspace Emissary, Smash Tour, and Street Smash are going to return. There's also a second Adventure Mode that will be featured.

Tourney will come in both Online and Offline modes. Up to 128 contestants may enter.

Captain Toad, Skull Kid, Bandana Dee, K.K. Slider, Isaac, Chibi-Robo, Karate Joe, Zero, Chun-Li, Bub, and Steve are all Assist Trophies.

DLC--should they ever come to pass--will likely not settle for any niche Nintendo characters, but will instead be characters that can, on their own, generate a ton of hype (similar to what happened with Smash 4).

The roster order is 100% accurate, btw. I don't know when, but Simon Belmont will be our next newcomer reveal.
> Next Nintendo Direct will be This Month. It Can be a mini though. If It's not, It will reveal all of the final features for the online service, but not major stuff. The possibility for Games beyond NES is still possible, but will not happen before at least Summer 2019.
> It will reveal the last Games Nintendo has to annonce for the holidays Season : New Super Mario Bros 3 and Metroid Prime Trilogy HD.
But There is also DLC for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Splatoon 2, and Super Mario Odyssey.
> There will be the annoncement for an october release date for luigi's Mansion on 3ds and à remake of Link's Awakening that will launch in 2019.
> It will annonce Some 3rd party news such as The Spyro Regnieted Trilogy launching a few weeks after other systems and à reminder for Undertale launching September 14th Worldwide.
> And Of Course, you will have your Smash Bros Character Annoncement.
> Talking of Smash Bros, here are my news :
> The Characters that are not annonced yet are Simon Belmont from Castlevania
> Isabelle as an echo fighter of villager.
> Shadow as an echo fighter for Sonic.
> Dark Samus as an echo fighter for Samus.
> Isaac from Golden Sun.
> King K. Rool from Donkey Kong.
> Elma from Xenoblade Chronicles X.
> Ken as an echo fighter for Ryu.
> The Rest will be DLC such as Octolings ( Echo Fighter for Inklings , Splatoon 2 Design ), Spring Man, Rex and Pyra, and others in the future.
> There will be more than 1000 trophies.
> More than 700 musics.
> Target Test is back, but will likely be the one from Brawl with différent difficulties.
> Smash Run is back and Can be Played with 4 players on the same screen.
> The Adventure mode of Melee is back, better than ever.
> Fountain of Dreams is back.
> The game will have a special pro controller launching December 7th.
> November Smash Bros Direct
Hey, here's a Smash leak for you idiots.

My source unfortunately doesn't know about the full roster (apparently character info is on a need-to-know basis), but they do know about some of the new stages, at least. They believe that one or two of these will be revealed during Gamescom, so look forward to that.

First off, I'll get the disappointing one out of the way.
There is a stage based on the final level of Donkey Kong Country 1, the Gangplank Galleon. It's similar to the Pirate Ship stage from Brawl and Smash 4 in layout, but the ship itself is much larger and takes up more of the stage.

Now what makes it disappointing, you ask? Well, K. Rool is the stage boss for it.
After a period of time, he jumps onto the stage and starts attacking people similarly to how he does in the Donkey Kong games. They describe him as being very slavishly designed, having all of his personas (one is picked at random when the stage is chosen) and much of their attacks from the first three games and 64.
While still in testing, there's even a touch where the first time he's KO'd in a match, it doesn't count and he jumps back on the stage from off-screen.

Next up is one that I think will be more popular.
City Trial from Kirby Air Ride is back, as a stage!

It's a traveling stage in the same vein as Delfino Plaza or Skyloft, with a flying platform taking stops around various locations of the beloved city.
Unfortunately none of the random events from Air Ride have made a return, but otherwise I am told it's a very faithful recreation in HD.

Further down the list is the big one, in more ways than one.
I'm sure you guys heard about Simon Belmont being in from a certain leaker, my source seems to confirm that, as there is a stage for him, based on Dracula's castle. As in all of it.

It's a new gigantic stage, following in the same footsteps as Palutena's Temple and Great Cave Offensive. It's essentially a downscaled version of every level in the original Castlevania NES game with many areas represented, connected together and some changes like platforms being added to make navigation easier.
Classic Castlevania enemies show up occasionally, ranging from Medusa Heads to White Dragons, to even iconic bosses like Death and Dracula himself.

And then there's the one that surprised me the most when I heard about it.
One of the latest stages they've started work on is supposed to be the opening level of Mega Man X; the highway.

The layout's apparently nothing special, but somewhat similar to Planet Zebes from Smash 64. Some of the enemies from the original stage are planned to make appearances as hazards.

I know what you're thinking, but my source does not know whether this is meant to be the home stage for a newcomer, or simply a new Mega Man stage.

That's everything I've been told for now. If I get any more info, I'll be sure to return. Stay classy, /v/.
>August 29th - the studio behind Thanatos Rising are animating the anime scenes for this trailer, there is no Kid Icarus newcomer but a 3rd party character is focused.
>October 29th - Two characters have a son, their son doesn't appear in the trailer.
>November 26th - This is the ballot's most wanted character's first appearance in a game outside of smash.

Simon and Isabelle are still going to be announced before launch.
As I was told by my sources, there will be a Nintendo Direct in August. I cannot say whether this‘ll be a mini or regular direct.
However, I‘ve got some information on the titles they‘ll present:

3DS:
~Short overview of Luigi‘s Mansion (remake) + release date (apparently in november)

~Info on the new Yo-Kai Watch

Nintendo Switch:
~No information on the new Yoshi

~Metroid Prime 4 gets teased (again!), there’s no real trailer

~basic Pokémon Lets Go trailer, showing team Rocket in its full glance, other than that there isn’t anything we haven’t seen already

~Super Mario Party trailer, featuring minigames from older titles for a new mode

~Mario Tennis Aces: Birdo and Diddy are officially revealed as playable characters, releasing in october and november; there’ll also be more patches coming in the future

~Super Smash Bros. Ultimate: pretty generous title screen reveal, trophy rush is replaced by a new mode, target smash returns in a downgraded version, reveal of an echo character

Sadly I don’t exactly know the date of the direct, but I‘ll inform you as soon as I can when I do...

The rights of the Nintendo Direct Logo don’t belong to me, but to Nintendo
I have insider information given to me by my source that got to have a look at the EVO Super Smash Bros. Ultimate demo. I don’t have much info, but anyways:
<Heihachi from Tekken joins the brawl! He sports his Tekken 7 design and his younger appearance similar to PlayStation All-Stars.
<Dragon’s Nest is his homestage. It is a combination of Tekken 5 and 7.
<Ashley will also be joining the cast. She will be revealed before Heihachi.
<She comes with the Gamer stage from Wii U.
<New Smash Bros. Item: Double Cherry from Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker
<Returning Items: Super Mushroom, Poison Mushroom, Bombchu, and Fire Bar.
<Dyna Blade, Adeleine, and Revali are new assist trophies.
<R.O.B, Palutena, Heihachi, and Yoshi are in the demo. [May be more]
<Fox, Ness, and Mewtwo are removed from the demo. [May be more]
So I know a guy who works in Koei Tecmo's legal department and he told me to keep this on the DL, but I'm a terrible internet person so I'm not going to do that. Anyways they had some connections with Nintendo about letting them use Lana from Hyrule Warriors in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Apparently he also heard whisperings that they were going to put in more other characters than we are expecting, and names that were dropped included Simon Belmont (though everybody says that) as well as Dixie Kong and Travis Touchdown. He's not sure if those other two are legit or not, but somebody on Nintendo's legal team may have spilled the beans, and at the very least, we are getting Lana. Who else is excited about that?
To start off with let me tell you something, I have never really considered leaking information for a game out of fear of loosing my job at Nintendo of America (I am one of the employees who, at the moment, is working on localizing, translating, editing, and generally preparing the Luigi’s Mansion 3DS port for U.S. release), but we recently held a meeting, as we were asked our opinions on the professor E.Gadd assist trophy, which will be revealed at the September Direct. Multiple workers for the Smash Bros team were there, and I had the chance to write down the information that they revealed in a fifteen minute smash compilation of reveals, as the information showed would most likely satisfy many fans, I decided to reveal this information. They are showing this trailer to every department that they visit, so you may see a leak similar to this one soon. Now, , here’s what I know.

>Subspace is not returning
>Coin launcher is returning
>Stickers Return
>Special smash gets new options

> Monstro Town from Mario RPG is a cliff side stage where Boshi is a hazard
>(Secret of Mana stage is supposedly planned for dlc)
>Brinstar Depths returns, but Phantoon, and Crocomire appear in it too now

>Only two new characters were shown, three were confirmed

>Geno is confirmed, but there isn’t much gameplay, and because I have never played Mario RPG I have no clue what any of his moves are called, but he has a rapid fire projectile, and transformation based moveset, he is revealed with the Monstro Town stage
>Issac was shown in a short 37 second trailer, but similar to Geno, I have never played Golden Sun, I have no clue what the moves are called. His basic attacks resemble Roy’s, but his specials are magic based.
>K. Rool will be in the game but is currently being balanced. He will be the last reveal.
>The rumors of Isabelle ARE FALSE
>There will be a total of 10 newcomers

The next meeting is October 23rd so I will put out another leak if there is any more information.
I have inside information about the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate demo at EVO. My informant, who I shall not reveal is an Employee. One of a dozen sent to Las Vegas to prepare booths for Smash Melee, Utimate, etc. Keeping that in mind, Here.
>The demo is a new build and is an upgrade from the version used in E3, CEO, Nintendo World, Etc.
>Heihachi will be revealed at EVO. His Tekken 7 design is his default, but he has 4 skins of his younger appearance.
>Stock matches are available, but it can only be set to 1-4.
>New assist trophies have been added: [Not all of them have been seen.]
-Saki Amimaya
-Waluigi
-Phosphora
-Dillon
-Chain Chomp
-Mr. Resetti
[New additions to the assist trophy line up. Again, it may not be all of them.]
-Magus
-Funky Kong
-Adeleine & Ribbon
-Dyna Blade
-Revali
>The only added returning items appears to be bombchu, super mushroom, poison mushroom, and fire bar.
>One new item [that I know of] : Double Cherry
>Returning Pokeball Pokémon
-Arceus
-Groudon
-Gardevoir
-Meloetta
[New additions to the pokeball line up. Yet again, may not be all of them.]
-Litten [Appears to replace Fennekin as it uses Fennekin’s mechanic from the previous installment.]
-Malamar [Inkay must have evolved.]
-Kricketune
-Nihilego
-Marshadow
>The character select screen has some changes. It’s the same amount of characters as the previous build [30] except a few have been switched out for other fighters.
>The character changes in the demo:
-Fox [Removed]
-Ness
-Bowser
-Sheik
-Mewtwo
-Corrin

-Yoshi [Added]
-Roy
-Wario
-R.O.B
-Palutena
-Heihachi
>The stage select also gone through some changes, there’s now a toggle for omega versions or normal versions of stages.
>Stage changes in demo:
-Final Destination [Removed]
-Princess Peach’s Castle
-Green Hill Zone
-Sky World
-Tortimer Island
-New Pork City

-Dragon’s Nest
-Peach’s Castle (64)
-Windy Hillzone
-Reset Bomb Forrest
-Super Mario Maker
-Wrecking Crew

That’s all I know as of right now. See you guys at EVO.

I do have a source from Nintendo that has some knowledge about the game, and I specifically asked him of a number of details.

For example, my source has no clue when the next Direct is going to come. He does know that Sakurai is making plans for a Smash-related presentation in the foreseeable future, though no work has been done on it. They usually get word of a Direct and what is gonna be featured on it just shortly before the announcement of one.

If my source has to guess, once the game goes Gold, that will be when the Smash Direct is going to come.

As far as newcomers go, the only ones he knows for certain are Simon Belmont and Excite Biker.

He did, however, state that Donkey Kong, WarioWare, and Animal Crossing are definitely getting newcomers. Any other franchise outside of those, if anything, would be getting echo fighters instead.

Apparently, the Smash Brothers team got in contact with Microsoft for advice on working on the new Stage Builder mode. Apparently, they had to work out a deal in order to get their help. As a result, there's a top secret Microsoft representative joining the battle.

The method in which you unlock every fighter has been streamlined. It's now possible to battle and unlock multiple fighters at once. There's also a new mode called Smash Quest that can permit you an opportunity to unlock every single fighter in the game quickly. Though it will be very difficult to beat, completing it in a single run should allow you to unlock character trophies for every single fighter you've unlocked vias this method. Your objective with each playable character is to recruit as many characters as you can to battle your arch nemesis. Depending on the character, it will either be a villain, or a 3rd party rep.

The only exceptions are the Mii Fighters (still unlocked the same way as in Smash 4), the echo fighters (who have their unlock conditions tied to their original counterparts), and retro fighters (who have unique unlock conditions).

There are still a few more classic stages yet to be revealed. Fountain of Dreams, Gamer, and Delfino Plaza are the ones my source remembers.

No knowledge on any of the new stages. Just that each of the original eight as well as any newcomer franchises are going to get one.

Classic mode is going to be made significantly easier this time around than it was in Smash Wii U. Though you'll still have to get past Master Core and Master Fortress on the highest difficulties.

All-Star mode makes a return in the form of several levels. Specifically Melee, Brawl, 3D, and True All-Star modes. And the order in which you battle each fighter will be based on their original game counterparts. The True All-Star mode has you battle through a gauntlet of every single fighter in the game in the order in which they had joined.

Just about every mode you can think of is back. The exceptions are Adventure, Subspace Emissary, Smash Tour, and StreetSmash.

Tourney is now available in offline and online capabilities and can hold up to 128 fighters.

My source has no idea whether or not every character will receive their own trailer. However, he suggests that they will, but not the echo fighters.

My source isn't so sure. He thinks it might be Steve. Then again, it could just as easily be Master Chief or Banjo & Kazooie.

There seemed to have been quite a few compromises to Sakurai's original final roster in order to work out this arrangement with Microsoft. And apparently, the higher ups at Nintendo ultimately had the last word.

I do know that Simon Belmont's inclusion was worked with Konami as a deal to get Snake and Bomberman into the game--the latter, of course, as an Assist Trophy. Otherwise, they would have shut down the Snake offer down.

Outside of those two instances, Sakurai kept it as close as possible to what fans had wanted and asked for from the ballot and in many other places. And yet, he wasn't able to get everybody in.

For example, I have no idea what had happened with Geno or Isaac since I have no idea if they were planned to be included as playable fighters or not. And then there's the 3rd Party issue.
>Ashley will be fighter No. 66, I've got no other information on newcomers besides her.
>Smash Run returns, this time players can interact with each other on the map which has also being expanded and redesigned, and finally you can choose which kind of final battle will be chosen at the end of the round and set how long the round will last.
>The new Adventure Mode is like Subspace Emissary's last level "The Great Maze", players will start with original 8 characters and venture through the maze, fighting and recruiting characters, and enemies from various franchises. The maze will feature environments based on the fighters' home worlds instead of the original ones found in Brawl's Adventure Mode.
>Each fighter will get 16 costumes (just like Little Mac in Smash 4), players start with 8 for each fighter, the method of unlocking them is unknown for now.

Don't know if they'll show this on a Smash focused direct or on a normal direct, Ashley's trailer *might* pop up this Friday because of WarioWare Gold's release on the US on the Smash Blog, time will tell, that's all for now, hopefully I can get more info as we get close to release.

I'm the guy who leaked the Uncanny Edition info a while ago and I have concrete info for Smash from a week ago. I decided to post it. Some of you are going to be pissed, some happy. I expect most of /v/ to be pissed at it though.

There will be 9 new fighters and 4 echos. I'm including Inkling, Ridley and Daisy in those numbers and names so the counts aren't wrong.

New Fighters: Inkling, Ridley, Capt.Toad, Heihachi, Simon Belmont, Dixie Kong, Sans, Chorus Kids, Elma.

Echos: Daisy, Chrom, Metal Sonic, Dark Samus.

Metal Sonic was chosen instead of Shadow because it was easier to justify Metal Sonic being an Echo rather than Shadow. Sans was literally added in 2016 after Sakurai saw how popular he was in the poll, and from an unknown game Undertale was to Japan at the time. At first Frisk was going to be added, but Sans had more moveset potential. Simon is here because of the Snake deal. It was originally going to be Bomberman as a playable character and Simon as an AT, but things were switched after Bomberman was made an AT and Simon playable. Simon was also mistook for the Dovahkiin around the offices amusingly.

K.Rool is an assist trophy. There was no way to make him a truly playable character without him resembling Bowser to the point of being an echo fighter save for him throwing his crown. K.Rool biggest issue was giving him a reliable recovery move that wasn't already done with other fighters to make him feel unique.

Also, expect Heihachi to be revealed at EVO this weekend at Evo.
Hello, I am here to tell you information regarding the upcoming Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, I have recently found out that there will be 7 brand new fighters and 3 new echo fighters, the new fighters will be King K Rool, Skull Kid, Bandanna Dee, Marx, Claus, Tails and Simon Belmont, the echo fighters will be Dark Samus, Isabelle and Octoling. There will be new Kirby, Earthbound and Animal Crossing stages, you will get to play Super Smash Bros. and Super Smash Bros. Melee on Masterpieces and you will get to play them for 30 minutes, and finally there will be a new mode and a new Adventure Mode named The Great Battle.
I have a source that told me that these characters will be in the game.

Ashley
Chrom
Dixie Kong
Elma
Impa
Isabelle
Joker (Persona 5)
Gardevoir
Lana (Hyrule Warriors)
Lip
Simon Belmont
Waddle Dee (Bandana)

I don't know if any of these characters are echo fighters or not. I just know they're in, but I wouldn't be surprised some were echo fighters.
http://www.nintendolife.com/news/20...th_will_be_released_in_japan_on_29th_november

Well, well, well, well, well, it looks like DaybreakHorizon DaybreakHorizon will have more credence to add for favoring Joker in Smash.
This probably doesn't affect Joker's chances much, especially since we've known about this game since last August, but I'm super hyped for this game. I honestly can't wait to see the Phantom Thieves interact with the P4 and P3 crews alongside seeing more of the Phantom Thieves. I hope we get a Switch Port, but I'm more than willing to bring out the old 3DS for this one.

So........ characters drinking coffee game!!!

My boi would drink all types of coffee.......... in one sitting
That reminds me of that one episode of Futurama...

Ridley would be a pretty big Latte drinker, though I feel like he'd be partial to the occasional Mocha.

Meta Ridley would only drink black coffee though.
Would Meta Ridley be super particular about the blend? I'm sure he'd actually be kind of a black coffee snob tbh

Yeah that’s what I was thinking.

Now I actually want Joker one smash, he’d be awesome.
Having Joker in Smash would be great! Getting either him or Yu Narukami would be golden, but I'm leaning more toward Yu because I love swords/swordfighters.
"I'll host an Ultimate Slumber Party, and everyone is invited!!!"

OK WAYFORWARD

Yep got the update sometime ago. I'd be great if Sakurai added in all her various costumes into Smash if she got in, I could imagine choosing Jammy Shantae, just so you can say you slept on the competition :)

Had forgotten all about lupensko, when Vergeben posted his Ridley and Simon leak there were people over at Resetera who said they had seen him leak them on Twitter before Verg did, but once they went back to check on him his entire Twitter was emptied.

I think it was ned_ballad ned_ballad who had witnessed it.
Yep, that was me. He posted "Simon Belmont, Ridley and Ice Climbers" a day before Vergeben. He also had a reddit post (since deleted) outlining everything Verge said pre-E3, a week before he did.

The stages

- Amibo stage

- Labo stage

Spiral Mountian will have the theme from both Banjo Kazzoie Nuts and Bolts, and Banjo Kazzoie Remix will be in?

-The first announcement will show Isabelle as a playable Fighter in Super Smash Bros Ultimate. She will be a semi-clone of Villager, but she will have some unique moves.

Hello, today i'd like to share some inside info i have about super smash bros. ultimate. i have info on characters and assist trophies, so take a look!

>Karate Joe

Assist Tropies:
>Elma

>Blue
>Glass Joe

Echo Fighters:

Leak 27 is one I can get behind, and if Lloyd or Yuri were in I can imagine Production IG animating their trailer.

Also 700+ songs? YES PLEASE. too bad that leak’s roster was kinda meh :c

Ridley would be a pretty big Latte drinker, though I feel like he'd be partial to the occasional Mocha.

Meta Ridley would only drink black coffee though.
xD I have mostly drawn Ridley drinking red wine (and sometimes getting drunk with it), I may do him at one point trying out coffee. And when the Pirates run out of black coffee, they try to trick him giving him water disolved petroleum instead, which obviously doesn't work and they end up with their heads bitten off.

That reminds me of that one episode of Futurama...

Would Meta Ridley be super particular about the blend? I'm sure he'd actually be kind of a black coffee snob tbh
Nah, not really. So long he can get his black coffee fix, he could care less.

At least, that's what I can imagine happening most of the time. Ridley can be kind of volatile at times, so who knows :p

Since being violent is his nature, is he less violent before his coffee? Unlike most people I know.

Yay more leaks with Lloyd in them(1 & 15 BTW).

But I do love those clue type leaks. So i'll entertain #15

So 1st one. August 29th was no brainer.

October 29th: Two Fathers without their sons in the game. One of them is probably Isaac. I would say Chrom but he has a daughter who's in Smash. The only other character I can think of is Kratos.

November 26th: King K. Rool is the only thing here that makes sense. DKC came out on November 26th

I still don't trust Vergeben or any other leakers. The fact that he didn't reveal the entirety of Smash E3 (no mentions of Daisy) shows that he's full of s*** and that he's a lying, fake, attention-seeking hack.
This isn't a point against Vergeben, leakers rarely have complete information, just within confirmed Smash leaks none of the legitimate Brawl leakers had the complete Brawl roster, with each of them only having a portion of the roster alongside some other info, and then with Gematsu there were a few characters missing. Leaks like Ninka Kiwi's and the ESRB leak are uncommon. In regard to E3, the only thing Vergeben ever claimed he knew about it is that Ridley would be revealed, he never claimed any of his other characters would be revealed there.

And yet if you look at the project plan for Smash 4, both Chrom and Chorus Kids were indeed planned to be in the game.

The Gematsu leaker had a copy of the project plan, the only thing you can dock him on was Robin and Lucina being shown over Shulk, and truth be told, neither of those characters were on the project plan.

We actually have proof that the characters he said WERE going to be in the game. To ding his credibility because "Yeah, well this character didn't come out on this date" is foolish.
Robin was always planned, in the page of the project plan that Sakurai shared Robin is in it, the question is if Chrom was planned in addition to Robin, not if Robin replaced Chrom.

Isn't it possible there were multiple versions of the project plan?

Like a rough draft, and so on?

Honestly, the veterans were the only DLC characters I remember being frequently mentioned on this site. Ryu, Cloud, and Bayo were rarely brought up, and there was no way Sakurai would add a sixth FE character from a game that wasn't even released yet.
Given that, I would not be too surprised if Goemon wound up being the next Konami rep when everybody expected Simon. Characters that people barely notice are the true underdogs.

"I'll host an Ultimate Slumber Party, and everyone is invited!!!"

OK WAYFORWARD

Having Joker in Smash would be great! Getting either him or Yu Narukami would be golden, but I'm leaning more toward Yu because I love swords/swordfighters.

Yep got the update sometime ago. I'd be great if Sakurai added in all her various costumes into Smash if she got in, I could imagine choosing Jammy Shantae, just so you can say you slept on the competition :)
Having jammies Shantae would be grand, not to mention having another ninja on-board.

I think pretending to feign ignorance (redundant but gets the point across) tends to show through pretty easily in fake leaks. I don't want to be "obviously dishonest" when I'm trying to be definitely honest. I am a fan of Pokemon and knew of Buzzwole and he's my second favorite UB behind Guzzlord ... so.
Guessing by yourself and being accidentally accurate is way better than playing soothsayer, like this poor sap.

Yep, that was me. He posted "Simon Belmont, Ridley and Ice Climbers" a day before Vergeben. He also had a reddit post (since deleted) outlining everything Verge said pre-E3, a week before he did.
Do you know where the reddit post happened? It could be possible to see the deleted reddit comments

I'm just gonna put this out there, I never believe any rumors until they're proven true.

Unless, potentially, they're from Laura Kate Dale; the woman predicted Mario+Rabbids over a year before the art was leaked, and then she went on to give us word that Spyro was back. She's the most trustworthy person I can think of when it comes to this sort of thing.

And to those of you who are scared of leaks having substantial evidence, the best you can do is go on a blackout. I'm sorry.

Or maybe not...

I always wondered if there may ever be multiple versions of a character that plays differently from another... Like how there's both Mage and Sword Ganondorf mods for Brawl?

Incineroar was in a movie.

That was most likely planned for ages.
I do not deny that Incineroar is a notably promoted Pokemon in that movie and that the anime seems to imply plot-wise that Ash's Torracat will turn into its final-evolution soon, but my biggest beef with Incineroar is the moveset potential. Sakurai from Brawl and onwards has paid close attention to choosing newcomers that have unique traits. With Charizard and Bowser being planned for Ultimate, I fail to see how Incineroar would catch Sakurai's eye. There is the wrestling part of him that makes Incineroar somewhat distinct, but I do not believe the trait alone will be able to make Sakurai meaningfully distinguish him from the veterans I mentioned when constructing a moveset and seeing the Pokemon's concept art.

We already have characters that have a play-style of being a powerful heavyweight using a degree of fire-based attacks. And to a small degree, Bowser is sort of a wrestling type character already with his grappling Side-B and maybe his Down-B. I understand why people would move to predicting Incineroar after Verge's new information, but I have trouble picturing that it would happen for real when considering Sakurai's emphasis on character individuality. It is part of why I feel very sketchy about predicting a Pokemon newcomer that is not Mimikyu, Decidueye, or Lycanroc. No other Pokemon after those choices make much sense to me, when considering the Pokemon criteria Sakurai gave in a Smash 4 interview.

I'd honestly take either one, but I'd like to see Joker more because I feel like he could bring slightly more to the table in terms of moveset potential.

Yu fights with a sword, and while I'll be the first to say that the "swordfighters are trite and overdone!" argument is stupid, Yu would likely fight similar to Marth, Ike, Robin, and/or Shulk, with the only difference being his ability to summon Personas (Personae?). Most of his attacks would likely incorporate Izanagi, who uses Electric Attacks, which is similar to Pikachu, Pichu, Robin, etc..

Joker fights with a Knife alongside a Gun (It's technically a model gun, so they can work around it), so his normal moves would be more distinct compared to other fighters, as a Knife based moveset hasn't really been done much. Joker's use of a gun is also stylish and flashy compared to realistic, so they could play with that too. Joker can also summon Personas (Personoxen?), but most of his attacks would likely incorporate Arsene, who uses curse/dark attacks, only used so far (at least prominently) by Ganondorf and kind of Robin, in one attack compared to most of his neutral special, aerials, and smash attacks using electricity.

P3 protagonist is a dark horse pick, but I don't know enough about them to comment. I also doubt that they'd get in over the more popular Yu Narukami and Joker. It really depends on whether Atlus/Sega want to go with the tried and true (Persona 4) or the up and coming (Persona 5). I believe they'd go more for relevancy, especially considering how popular Persona 5 is. It's the best selling Persona game, selling 2.2 million units as of last May, and definitely thrust it into the limelight.

Either way, a Persona character is ideal for me, if not for the character, then for the music. You can't tell me these tracks would be great in Smash Bros:

It's all so good.

You mean like how there is Link, Toon Link, and Young Link, Samus and Zero Suit Samus? We may never know.

So basically he'd just be like if there was a Jojo in Smash Bros?

I tried to see and get the appeal of Shantae, but I just couldn't get into the games.

I also see a large chunk of her fanbase is comprised of ''Oooooh a mid-drift."

Which shocks me cause it's like we're back in the late 90's and everyone is scandalized by Britney Spears again.
