45 minutes is a ridiculous amount of time! So much can be covered.

Well, Sakurai could spend a lot of minutes blabbering and showing us how the newcomers play just like when he did it with Villager, Mega Man, and Wii Fit Trainer. He could show us how Rosalina and Little Mac play this time.

As for possible veterans to be shown off in Smash Direct... it is possible we could get them based on GBA games that are coming to Wii U.

I would be OK even if we just get an actual explanation / demonstration of all the stages, items and moves ALREADY announced.
But we're getting new stuff. And it's going to be big.

It's going to be 20 minutes at least. The game specific Directs (The Wii Fit U, Pokemon X and Y, and Wondeful 101) were all this length last year so, to put this in perspective, roughly 10 times longer than Villager, Megaman, and Little Mac's trailers and about 2.5 times the Developer Direct at E3 last year.

Christmas came early this year! Anyways, here's my speculation.

For one, we'll definitely get a release date. The time has come, and they wouldn't showcase Smash if it wasn't ready. For two, I think a few newcomers will be announced. Hopefully, it's Chrom, Takamaru, or another a fan favorite. There's definitely going to be a big character announced. (No,that's not a jab at Ridley.)

And since it's so close to the 15th anniversary of the American release, I bet we'll get a Smash anthology.

Seems like he's just saying that it's a pretty late announcement of the Direct compared to its air time. He also talks about how the official Smash Bros Twitter profiles just launched, it's not him who writes on them though.

We've seen Pyrosphere so many times without seeing the stage hazard. Ridley's getting revealed at some point either in this or E3 one.
