I play AE. However I just started a few weeks ago so I am currently very bad. My only other Street Fighter experiences have been when my family owned a bowling alley when I was younger, and I used to play SF II there all the time. :)

Ah, I see. :3

In AE I main El Fuerte and Viper. I play pad, though. I would say I'm best Viper in my city because no one plays her. But even then, I still have all my canceling and techs down. She's damn fun to play and a challenge to handle as a pad player.

Probably 2nd best El Fuerte since I'm probably the one with least tournament experience in SSFIVAE.

I see. Do you think you did better or worse using them?

For me, I win more with Zelda. One reason is because I have more fun playing her than most characters, which puts me in an overall better mood, and better mood(usually)=better performance. The other reason is that when I play good characters, I go into an instant auto-pilot mode which causes bad things to happen.

I tend to suicide with Sheik. I know, I don't know how that is even possible either.

For instance at my last tourney, I did the ditto with someone in pools. First game I was in control and up a fresh stock, and I chain off the edge trying to reverse needle cancel to grab the ledge. Second game, same scenario. Except this time I straight up boback going for a waveland->ftilt from the ledge. Derp city.

Despite saying I was retiring a few weeks ago I went to another tournament this last weekend and got 9th with all zelda. If you aren't aware I've gotten 9th at around 90% of the tournaments I've ever attended which is a very annoying curse I can't seem to shake off.

I was pretty bummed about my loss in winners bracket because it came down to the last game and I had such a large lead that I saw no way I was going to lose. I let my guard down though and ended up SDing once and then getting combo'd offstage. I was punished after every recover and ending up losing.

Later in the tournament I was beaten pretty solidly be a peach player who seems to have really figured out the matchup after playing me in tournament so many times in the past. I've always felt like peach/zelda is 50/50 but the way he used turnips made it really hard for me to do anything.

I always try to use characters other than zelda at tournaments just to switch things up but it never lasts more than one game. I'm so much better with zelda than my other characters (even though they have better matchups and I'm competent with them) that I always end up switching over to her.

I suicide with Zelda... How is that possible????
The only time I do it with Zelda is if I mess up an Up-B to the ledge when I'm far away from it, which does not happen that often but it still happens.

GK: I also feel like that match-up is 50:50, but only if you run away and camp platforms the entire time, which is probably how it should be played anyway.

yo smashing is a state of mind.
if you're feeling it, you can do almost anything, but if you're not, you just kinda suck.

Okay Lake is easier there.

Smash does require a good state of mind, but everyone also has their limitations. For example. I could be feeling fan-****ing-tastic. Doesnt mean Ill get all my drill shines and wave shines and ledge dashes. Being confident and feeling good is a part of it all.Doesnt mean you can do anything.

Neutral B leaves you laggy but isn't a horrible option in that setting

And I guess you could potentially catch them, it's not particularly hard

But I mean it's still not safe to approach

All she really has are her turnip approaches and float approaches after you have made the decision to camp and or not approach in any way. You can kind of dance around her options and make openings for yourself. I just don't see it happening from a non-defensive point of view.

Yeah it certainly has to be defensive. The problem is that if peach can get the lead she can camp you and then you have to approach. I guess if that happens you can just switch to sheik and hit her with needles or something lol.

Hmm I like this

I feel as a crew of misfits

we dont do this enough

where we discuss the limitations and mentality's behind maining a character

Ive been really working on this lately

Like understanding when your "on" with a character

I find my self psyching myself out before matches

like if I play a pro

I just assume im going to lose

Even if im out playing them

I like let it slip because im supposed to or somthing

Theres alot to over come in competition regardless of what character your using

You can DI drill shine btw

And im slowly getting better at the peach match up

:D

Next tourney im gonna try some new mental strats

and let you guys know my thoughts

let us grow together my low tier brethren <3

Confidence is a huge part of the game, and you won't win as easily without being confident, but that wasn't exactly what I meant.

You really gotta feel the game and your character.
If I wanna win with Zelda, I gotta feel like I am Zelda. you know?

also, Lake, are you coming down saturday? :D

Perhaps I am basing my claim on how I do against both of them. And I know that you play with Peepee, DH. So I understand where you're coming from, and in your case it would probably be impossible to think otherwise.

I personally have an easier time with Falco. When he makes a mistake it's much easier to capitalize on punishment than it is when Fox screws something up. Fox is fast enough to get away, and hunt you down if you are the one trying to get away. A Fox can rush you down if his tech skill is on point. Falco obviously can too, although it seems like he has to take a few more steps than Fox does before he can get in.

Just a fun fact, a few tournaments ago I took the first game in a set against the best Falco in MI (this is my proudest smash moment ever and I will not be able to stop talking about it hah). He then switched to Fox, and two to three stocked me the last two games. That set definitely had an impact on my viewpoint, and I can't help but think about it when talking about these characters. But then again it was only one set, so whatever. It's just the fact that he was able to switch characters and almost effortlessly dominate/control every situation that boggles my mind.

i think fox is the best.

i had a problem with low % suicides at apex too. it feels really awful when you play such a stupid-proof character.
