sometimes i don't understand the logic they used when they made brawl. They made combo grabs in melee, and found out some of them chain grab; they took it out in PAL. When brawl comes along, they make grabs with set knockback.... Its like they didn't think about anything except ease of use when they made that game.

u dont have to run through their shield, u can just jump over it and turn at the same time.
Doesn't that still involve passing through the zone where you're vulnerable to aerials/other out of shield (that is, in front of or slightly above their shield)?

It seems more prudent to stay on the ground while entering a territory where hitboxes are more likely to occur. *shrug* I guess jumping over a shield is cool too.

What does that even mean? It woudl do you best to watch several really good sheiks to understand how different styles with sheik work.

I'm so excited. I decided to main sheik in melee. I have been switching of between fox, marth, jiggs, falcon, luigi and falco little bit up until now. But viewing the shield threads and videos of kdj and maybe drephen
encouraged me to play shiek. Though ironically she used to be my 2nd worst high tier charachter.

Would I learn more from watching top pros like kdj or pretty good ones like drephren?
haha, what a good drephen burn

you are typically correct. Marth can swat you like a fly, and fox can kick u in the ****

But I will tell you a situation where i find it useful and effective. as they are landing from an aerial but you are not close enough to grab them outright out of their lag and you anticipate a sidestep or perhaps a backward roll. jump turning over their shield allows u to punish sidesteps with a slap in the back, if they rolled, u get a free bair. if they held shield u have great shield positioning on them. and thanks to sheiks high shorthop you also avoid many quick anti-grab ground moves (jabs, shine, marth dtilt)

i find it better and more dynamic than running shield and waiting for sidesteps. I have had experienced people simply grab me out of that occasionally. Just cuz stuff is flashy doesnt always make it useless as is the trend

people just need to remember that flashy stuff is useful in situations and not just use it for the flash.

If I can somehow pull the other half of this essay out of my bum and get most of my group presentation done within the remainder of now and Friday noon when Sanuzi, RaynEX, Unknown522, and Europhoria show up at my house on Friday to make the trek, I can go.

tl;dr I'll see you Saturday baby.

1st match omitted because Unknown SD'd twice at like less than 30 so I rage-quit the match and told him to start over because it would have been gay. But then he was like "no" and immediately killed himself twice when we restarted.

what stages should i counterpick/ban as sheik against fox , falco, and marth?

i was thinking battlefield due to the ledge against fox and falco. what if they ban BF? what should my next CP be? dreamland64 or kongo jungle 64 for the high ceilings? not sure about CP for marth.

and also for my stage ban, i was thinking FD against falco and fox. also unsure against marth.

help is appreciated, thanks!

I just always ban FD

**** that stage.
agreed. i think against spacies it's only slightly in their favor. it's still pretty gay tho. FD is always a gamble--chain grabs, camping, get-up-from-ledge-and-smash-sheik gayness....
sheik is better with platforms.

btw, any tips on not messing up on needle cancelling? when i'm nervous, i always mess that shiz up.

I think if you have shield pressed down slightly when you start charging needles, pressing it down further doesn't cancel it.

Maybe I'm thinking of Shadow Ball. It might be both.

Battlefield is nice against spacies. Maybe Dreamland or Fountain of Dreams.

Against Marth... maybe Poke Floats? Or Corneria or something. He doesn't do well on non-neutrals.

It really depends on playstyle. Go with what you're most comfortable with.

i always ban stadium

FD you can at least abuse tilt/dash attack-->usmash kill moves at 75-90 or so anywhere on the stage

the platforms **** up my short hops which is annoying, the constant changing is annoying and spacies are so good on the transitions with walls. its generally big so i can get outcamped on it, at least being camped on FD you can get some usmash kills when u catch them, can't do that on stadium with those platforms and transformations.

i also dislike the edges for edgeguarding sometimes, they are just weird cuz of the camera angle. the low ceiling also tends to generally never really help.

ill play stadium against like peach and marth and floaties if i have to, but generally, its a ****ty neutral stage. lol

Master it and then what? Develop super fast hands so you can input it on your opponent's controller without anyone realizing? =P
