well imo the timing is a bit different and depending on your timing you can go further (dunno if this is wrong or not but i think Ice told me about this) argh i hate not having a melee disc so i can try stuff xD

i always boost grab to tech chase, it's way further. also when characters dashdance away from you JUST out of your range, a lot of times boost grab catches them cuz people arent used to you just dashing at them and boost grabbing. i love it

u could just test the window yourself, but frame data is kinda fun to know for me too

something cool with boost grab and dash attack is that there is a window after u do a foxtrot and let go where hitting A still dash attacks. so u can do a long foxtrot forward, have the option to dash the opposite direction or boost grab/dash attack

its a tricky little hesitation that messes people up sometimes too

Yes, homg, frame data question, sorry Amsah =P
Whatever floats your boat..though I personally still don't see the point..:lick:

Oh Elvenarrow thanks for the advice against the CF. I am now winning more consistantly. dsmash for the edge guard and needle canceled stuff just kills him...badly.

and btw the guy im playing, who i compared to isai *at times* is Leviathen. He's ranked 7th best in the world at 64 smash. he's no joke at melee either. I sense a "pro-ness" in him lol.

I think the only rule for boost grab is that you can't have your dash attack hitbox come out. This is more of a personal theory than anything else.

Sheik > Falcon

No problem, by the way ^_^

And KirbyKaze, I'll keep that in mind.

After I look up the frame data for the dash attack, that is!

ummmm i boost grab to tech chase and when they dash dance back

so if marth does a fair then dash dances away immediately, i run a little past where he did his fair then boost grab and it works

yeah im pretty sure i come into these threads at the wrong time lol but oh well

Question, since that's what this thread is meant for:

Is Sheik's dash cancel to ftilt any good? I realize that it's pretty easy to dash cancel into a dtilt, but ftilt is more versatile; you can actually ftilt the opposite direction of your dash, if you do it right (you have to hold down, smash the stick the opposite direction, then HOLD it while pressing A. There's a timing, but it's easy). This can be nice for running past shields and ftilting them for pressure (behind someone, so they have fewer options). Ftilt also has a better hitbox and combos better at low percents (than dtilt/dash attack).

Anyone know of the usefulness of this for approaching?

Why wouldn't you just turn around and grab them?
Ftilt just feels like it covers more options, like spotdodge and jump OOS. But, I mean, if you know they're going to just keep holding their shield, you might as well grab.

Plus, there's another utility for running ftilt. Sometimes wavedash back > ftilt still leaves you vulnerable to stuff like Falcon's nair, which if timed correctly can be dangerous. If you run away from Falcon and dash cancel into reverse ftilt, you're able to cover more distance, which can aid you in getting past where Falcon will land from his nair.

...If that makes sense.

It does. Hmmm...

Have you considered like... running through them, short hop turn around needle to something?

Like, short hop reverse needle cancel and fair their shield then fastfall and jab / grab?

I think we're taking this a little far. I mean, really, stick to Drephen's policy of grab or dsmash and good things will follow.

It's cool to be flashy, though.

u dont have to run through their shield, u can just jump over it and turn at the same time.

Maybe its just me but ive ftilted thru falcons nair before. you have to be close and have to hit right as or before the first kick. sometimes i trade hits but thats good becuz he's in the air! basically you get reset faster and then you can grab to dthrow to ****. but maybe you were saying that missing the ftilt leaves you vulnerable...which is true....dammn knees.
