In mango v m2k ROM grand finals, I saw one of them do a perfect dthrow-pivot fsmash tech chase. I thought it was cool, and is now one of my favorite things to do

People need to do it more just observe tech for 5 grabs and learn the patterns

whoops someone doesn't know what "all time" means
well with music or art or literature, works are timeless, and it isn't possible to say that "well um nowadays all music artists are better and X old band that was amazing could never stack up." the same cannot be said about something where improvement is obvious and not opinion.

im gonna use michael jordan because i saw wes type it

you think any basketball player, any
would be able to take on mj in his prime?
i doubt it so much man

isai in his prime was the best falcon just because in his prime, his competition was ken, the king of smash.
meaning that he was always going back and forth with the best player in the world, and some others i guess.

but if ken is undoubtedly the king of smash, then isai is the best falcon of all time
because no falcon has accomplished what he has

beat the best player in the world
with falcon

Basketball doesn't have a continually changing metagame, is a team sport, and has a reliance on physical aspects (read: luck) of humans. I don't see how the comparison can be made.

Reguardless of how good darkrain is now (obviously better than Isai was), Isai moved falcon further than any other player did. To assume that he couldn't adjust to the metagame even now is silly because he knew falcon inside out, better than anybody, hence why falcon is as good as he is now.

ah
like luck has nothing to do with smash
basketball definitely has a changing metagame

watch basketball from michael jordans time
and watch todays game
nothing alike

its hard to tell wether its getting better, or just different then those times, but it certainly has changed
mostly because of the different generations of players
and the same can be said with smash actually
old players go
new players come

@mango

shut up son
you suck
you should have let him win that last game
on corneria
he had it
but no you had to be gay
and do some **** combo
and win

i was disappointed

Yeah you can't compare a video game to a real sport.
I'm pretty sure you can get lucky in melee.
Its called phanton hits.

you can't be at an unchangeable disadvantage purely due to genetics, though.

and no one responded to the part where basketball is a team sport and smash isn't... lol

since im in college i dont really have anyone to play so ive just been practicing tech skill. basically im getting worse =( i have a few questions though.

on PS when its neutral, can you run off the stage, double jump, and waveland onto/off the platform. im pretty sure you can but can it be done as efficiently as the battlefield or yoshi's story platforms?

also, i was running around and i did something amazing by accident. on PS again, i ran off the stage, and immediately walljumped, still having my double jump. can anyone do this in a consistent manner?

you can waveland from the edge on stadium but its really hard and not fast

outside of silent wolf putting it in a video its pretty useless

im not into that walljump stuff so thats somebody else's territory

where are you going to college that you cant find anybody?

i'm pretty sure one of those canadian guys did that walljump in a vid on fd. I'm not sure how consistent he is or if was even one of those canadian guys at all. But someone did it

Yah

what 4% is talking about you can dash attack at the ledge, then the momentum will carry you off, then you quickly wall jump off the stage.

don't you have to hold away during the dash attack animation in order to fall? i did it from running/dashing, it was pretty amazing but i dont think ill do it again anytime soon. the waveland thing probably is pretty useless because it takes so much time to double jump to get to the platform if you get hit you die.

i go to school in new london, new hampshire, in the middle of nowhere. there are a lot of trees. skler and his boys are in manchester which is a drive away but im a loser with no car.

I thought phantom hits weren't random? Isn't it when the hitboxes are adjacent or something like that? Like, if you wanted to, you could purposely get a phantom hit?

lol I do this by accident a lot and I can never figure out how the **** I did it

i know you can sdi out of sheik's jab reset, but what if sheik jabs you twice???

sheik's second jab is incredible, it goes farther, lower, and you can do both jabs on a person when resetting them. i guess you'd have to sdi the second jab instead???

I don't know what you're asking. If you've already sdi's the first one then you dont really need to sdi the other one. Away maybe but not up. You cant be reset if you sdi'd the first one.

Here's how to always do the throw you want and never that mediocre forwardthrow or backthrow. When you go to grab, hold the control stick forward, then roll to the throw you want to do. This is very easy to do from a run. You can also do it when standing still, you need to press grab, then hold forward BEFORE you grab them.

If you decide that you actually want to throw them forward/backward you can use the cstick.

I made a couple posts about platforms yesterday and it got me thinking a little more. on pokemon stadium, FoD, and yoshi's story falcon can knee people from under the platforms. it MIGHT be possible on battlefield, if it is it's just harder. what counterpick stages can this strategy be used on?

i keep thinking about the moving platforms on kongo jungle, you could knee someone from a lower platform.

ryzol's method sounds good if you JC grab with a button, but I JC grab with up, so it wouldn't work for me.
you could stop yourself from uthrowing =X
but you could easily roll your finger to the left while the grab is happening...the only difference is you wouldn't do it from neutral control stick position like I would

i dont understand how people can do it with up
your running
pressing up while running could mess you up
