Ok I'm not working on said dates so I have no reason to not come to this.
And I know this is lame, but I need some Smash practice.
Unfortunately not this week since I'm working, only Sunday and Monday are free, and Friday next week.

Yeah, that's basically how it goes. i think 4 stock 8 minutes is what we usually use for melee, or 7 minutes, depends who gets to it first really. i think they do brawl similar.

Ahh, ok. Thanks for that. I was wondering why it was 6 minutes.
This is a hark back to the days when the fighting game tournament series 'Evolution' used to have Melee on its lineup. To fit in with their time constraints, each match was limited to 6 minutes.

Lol. In a game where its a legitimate (and arguably broken) strategy to hang on the edge and plank for the entire match I dont think that thats gonna happen, especially when the metagame is built largely around camping and attrition (and grab releases., lol).

A: I dont suck at brawl. I was kind of decent back when I played it. I just got sick of being camped, us old school melee players love the buzz you get from speed playing, gimp killing and epic 0-death combos so I think we tend to be a bit intolerant of brawl in general, so im sorry for that.
B: Lets not get into a fight over this. I realise what I posted earlier could be taken as a passive-agressive taunt and I apologise.

I have a bit of a rage problem im still trying to work on. =P
It is largely based around defensive strategies though. If we actually looked at Australian matches, in Rocky the only game to time out was a Melee match.
It honestly depends on the mu if it comes to just chipping in damage, the better you get at brawl, the faster you can play, you can read peoples response and start doing pseudo combos/strings of damage
it's not as fast as melee, there is an emphasis on playing smart and safe, but there are rules in place to prevent planking (edge planking mostly which is what you used as an exmaple).
I mean, even Kas is super defensive at Melee and makes matches just as long. And he's really good at Melee. It can work in both games, if people chose to.
