Brsk - I know you weren't only aiming it at Cao, that's why I put (as well) in brackets to show that you called Cao a little ***** AS WELL AS everyone else that kept bringing up the past and talking about.
Also, saying things like that don't help anyway, they just add fire to the flame, it's better to just let it go.

And why am I worrying about you, Tibs, if you go to SQUAT?
Won't I see you at Rocky? Haha.
It's not like I'll be trying to be best in Brawl. Unless I use Toon Linky and Falco-y.

So, I've been looking at the venue's accessibility.

Buses run from Brisbane central station to the venue every fifteen minutes, and the journey itself is only about 20 minutes. Also buses run well into the night til just after midnight.

Brisbane public transport ftw.

I would still much rather a venue in the city accessible purely by train and walking, but this will have to do.

Now I have to figure out whether I want to split Brawl and Melee completely, or have them running different events on different days.

If I go with the mixed format, it'll be Melee Doubles/Brawl Singles day one though.

i think running the mixed format would be better to get more people to attend all events, but it might be worse for some people who can only come for one day.

i personally would prefer the mixed format because it'll give me an excuse to play melee for two whole days *drools*

This is what I believe as well.
It's more time efficient, but it also doesn't lend itself well to people who can't go for each day.

how is it more time efficent... when you have to change all the setups..
also maybe people dont want to play melee/brawl.. and spend their money on entry fee for a half day.

Changing setups and then running Melee pools, then Melee singles is much faster than not taking the time to switch over and running Brawl pools then Brawl singles.

Melee sets take about 15 minutes whilst Brawl sets take about 25 minutes each.

It's definitely more time efficient to mix the two games over the two days in order to balance the time it takes to get through each day.

Naturally, Brawl takes longer to complete, so a Brawl day 1, Melee Day 2 set up will see a much faster day 2 than day 1.

The real disadvantage is as you said, forcing people who only want to play one game and not the other to pay for an extra day.

well i mean it comes as a package doesnt it?
It gives you the chance to participate in both if you want to. if you want to come on both days it just means youll get the chance to do a bit of everything doesnt it?

I can see that you wouldnt want to make people pay extra. but i think splitting them up for the sake of running the tournament more efficiently and better is the lesser of 2 evils. Heck, i suck at melee but id still participate in the tournament. theres no reason not to if its on and im already going to pay for the entry anyway.

Thats what i think anyway

The reverse situation I worry about is people not showing up for the doubles of either event because they don't want to attend both days, or missing out on something.

hmmmm...

i don't think of it as "i'm paying for two half days because i'm only playing melee but i need to pay more for those half days than normal" i think of it more like "i'm paying more for an extra day of friendlies". but yeah, if there are a bunch of people who can only come to one day, then i think it'd be better to stick with the brawl day 1 melee day 2 or something like that.

i can't imagine running different events either day would mean that we get to play melee friendlies for the rest of the day dif, becaus eall the setups are going to swap to the other event for time efficiency. You'll get to play your melee doubles on one day and then have to watch / play brawl.

I personally like the event on one day, just because it's way more conveniant, but ive never been 100% dedicated to doubles so if it is held on both days ill just skip doubles :(. I can definately see how it is more time efficient though.

if we have enough setups though, then we could have friendlies for both games going all the time. but i see your point. one event for one day also makes it simpler for newbies who want to know what's going on.

1) Dedicated Friendly setups are not happening ever. EVER. All TV's are either ALL MELEE or ALL BRAWL at all times.

2) Pools ARE happening. I'm not expecting people to come in, play 2 games, then do nothing.

3) Although having events on separate days isn't time efficient, Arrow makes a good point. I could put the crews events at the end of Melee day. It also gives out of staters the chance to go explore Brisbane on the other day if they don't want to enter whatever event they want to skip.

Perth's currently got around 5-10 people planning on attending. After his big win Sam most likely being one of them. Thank Muzga for persuading me (and others) to get of my lazy *** and try and come, the epicness from Rocky helped too :)

Oh well. I guess he's just.. Different
Anthony something that wasnt done at rocky that lead to a massive overtime and no crews was once pools were handed out people did like 2 of them and then went and did friendlys

Try and moniter friendlys (by which i mean stoping) during pools to help the brackets get up and running

also *****

Yep. Will do.
Thanks Nick.

Basically, anyone caught playing friendlies, switching games over or w/e will get a warning then a DQ.

Both you and Bob seem to forget that we had like, 18 TVs at QBB. Because people other than bob bought theirs. The key? Offering a discounted rate for people who bought them.

People power is what the tournament ran on last time, and it's how it'll run this time.

Believe me, I'm not dumb enough to try and run a national sized tournament on 5 TVs.

Out of Staters: I'm going to ramp up my organisation of this tonight or very soon at least. I'm just VERY Busy with Uni right now (Stopped me from going to Rocky).
