[QLD] Brisbane/Gold Coast Meets & Tournaments

Why should Melee rely on Brawlers for numbers?
If Brawlers don't like Melee, then they won't go.
Same for Melee'ers and Brawl.

The reality is, is that not everyone is so attached that they want to go to every tournament for both games (let alone their one of choice) to support the smash scene at large.

You shouldn't try to blame the Brawl community for Melee's lacklustre showing last LanSmash. That's just dumb. It's like Syke said, it was a bad turnout because people couldn't show up, etc. But that's where it ends.

Huah, lots of new Diddy based AT's coming out of the woodwork, like escaping chaingrabs with a naner in hand and BDACUS'ing, which essentially gives Diddy a DACUS as long, if not longer than Snake's. Chris! I need practice!

Got a text from Slapper today. Going to think about running a tournament at Supanova. The problem with this though, being the clash with Thriller. At least LanSmash is being moved datewise due to JB's anniversary or something.

I'll keep you guys updated.

Supanova's not my first choice of venue.
It's about the exposure we can get. I'm sure that's Slapper's main reason too.

Same reason why we did GenCon as well.

Just found out that there was a Bond Uni games club since I walked past some people playing 2v2 in Brawl o.O

The guy running it said that they have meets on Sunday, from mid-day onwards, and that they were thinking of having a Halo or Brawl tourney soon. I asked if non-club members could come and play games, organise stuff and he seemed open to the idea

He also said their next meet was 2 Sundays away, new venue for some meets/small tourney prehaps?

Bout time we brought the smash back to the GC =D

Wow, this is huge.
Its essential to bring back smash to the coast I think.
I like where this is going.

And depends what you call major.
Autumnsmash is major enough.
Certainly has the potential to be.
It will be in April sometime.

Who here would be interested in running a Brawl tournament at Animania?
Hotdogs is out because of Thriller. I don't know if I'm going yet or not. It'll probably be a last minute decision.

I wasn't going to go, but then Slapper suggested that we run at Supanova and I'm inclined to stay here and do so to help boost the scene. BUT if somebody can run the Supanova tournament, I'd be able to go down and rep with the other QLDers.

(I'm hoping Kaion can step up, since he's the last QLD tournament organiser that I know for sure is not going to Thriller, might have to call him soon).
