I know you guys got rid of Mario's side b auto snap, but what about Snake's up b auto snap? It's not as abusable as Mario's and it doesn't feel like a cheap move considering Snake's recovery.

And that FoD update looks incredible!

IYM!, this is an update to that one, and it's still missing some stuff. I'd say it's about 85% done.

Yeah, apparently brawl can't handle the beauty that is FoD. :(

It still looks amazing though.

Well actually FoD crashes if he adds anything else to it. I think he reached a file limit on models or textures or something. Maybe someone from the PMBR can help break this limit so he can finish the last few details? :awesome:

Leave it how it is. You people don't realize that adding more stuff WILL cause the frame rate to be lower. Remember Dracula's Castle in early builds?

Where's the fun in that? :bee:
i'll play it but i'm not MM'ing in it at least until I play. I had a friend I use to beat in fighters and pretty much everything....so he made a habit of challenging me in games i didn't own and if he won he'd talk **** about it and then not play me once I got good at it....that was long ago but the effects still last on me. It's for protection...because if I played the new PM and got ***** while trying to adjust and someone talked ****....idk...i might tackle him lol.

with that said i'm a really nice guy...dont like fighting at all...I just have problems with people beating me in something i haven't played and then feeling great about themselves...pisses me off...

Yeah, there's really not much left of FoD anyways, its the little details that make it look really professional though.

I also want to know if FoD reflects characters, and if it doesn't, is it even possible in brawl?

Warm up as much as you need to. I'm not trying to hustle you or anything. Like I said, I won't even use a non-demo character, so there shouldn't be anything you haven't seen before aside from more polished mechanics.

I didn't know the reflections caused slowdowns in Melee. I almost never played 4 player matches in Melee and when I did, I never used FoD. Three player matches are fun. :D

And it seems M2200 has an idea on how to go about adding more details in. Either way, I don't really care if it stays like that or not.

Um, suggestion to make Bridge of Eldin more neutral(thought of it at work today)

How about 3 separate floating pieces of the bridge, each one tilting/wobbling very slightly back and forth kind of like the cutscene from TP, and at preset times, the twilight effect loads at the bottom of the stage and dematerializes one of the platforms from the bottom first, then dematerializes the second one and then have the pieces rematerialize

Or maybe just 1 floating piece of the bridge? I just like the stage...

Either way I would base it on this because it doesn't have the moblins appear: http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=17350

Hey, is anything being done about port priority? Even something as simple as not being allowed to grab enemies who are in a grab animation? It would remove the port seeding rules entirely.

And probably best to remove FSA completely.

But.. if someone tried a grab, you get behind them, and grab them before the animation is finished, all would go to hell. I don't think an anti-grab during grabs would necessarily wield better results.

I think the best solution is to have both players go to their grab release animation like in most fighting games. If that's even possible of course. :/

I'm curious if you guys are interested in adding/creating new game modes to Project M.

I'll elaborate.

A game mode, in Versus, where you pick a team like you do in SSE. It would be like the fight with Tabuu, but in versus. Each player picks 4 characters, each character has 1 stock, and the next character is brought out upon death. Tag Stock, essentially.
The infrastructure is kind of there, but I don't know if it's possible to actually create a Versus mode using it.

Well, I figured if anyone would be able/willing to work that out, it would be a member of the PM team.

I think it would be a great addition. Preserving the mechanics of Smash (Melee) but altering the dynamics of matches and match-ups.
At the very least it would be something entirely new that you could only get in P:M, and not in Melee.

You mean like Ryoko said in the chat. Grab clash of SOul Calibur. Puts both back to neutral stance.
It's like teching throws in other fighting games, not really a new concept, and it would be pretty much the same as clanking ground moves.
That's what I understood from what you guys said, but is it worth it?
Port priority has never seemed like a big issue to me, was it in vbrawl?

Can't add modes... unless you know a secret way how to.

Port priority was in Melee too for many things, especially noticeable with items. But in general, it is rarely a concern.

Yes, I think that would be ideal if possible.

NeoZ, PortPriority was never a problem for me either but when it does happen, people will complain sooo much about it.
And about your FoD question, no it doesn't reflect. I think it was EY that told me it was possible to add during a stream a while back. Not sure though.

Well, it IS true that being player 1 is an advantage in and of itself, but a microscopic one. I wouldn't mind it changed, but I wouldn't lose sleep over it if nothing was done, personally.

Port priority generally isn't a concern. People only really take it into consideration when fighting a Snake or characters with explosives.

And I guess doubles

magus, does he mean the actual grabbing motion (like a missed grab)? When I first read it I thought he meant "while currently holding an enemy" and then realized that the notion is a complete absurdity. If that is what you thought as well, then hopefully I cleared it up for you.

Edit
omg I just realized what he meant. Bad evilagram, bad.

The thing is, since it's practically unnoticeable during normal gameplay, why put so much effort into changing it?
Or are more things in the brawl engine affected?

I doubt it's much more of a concern like you said. It DOES give an edge to player 1, but it's not really an edge you can control to your advantage. Also, since we play with no items and very rarely clash grabs, the edge is even less noticeable. I'm just thinking that the work needed for this might not be worth the time and effort.

I mean we do want the game to come out eventually too :p.

The major problem would have to be Ganoncides in which Ganondorf loses at lower ports which is dumb as hell. Grab port priority isn't too big of a deal though. It's extremely rare for two players to connect grab hitboxes on each other on the exact same frame. It's still kind of dumb that the game developers never bothered of thinking of grab clashes.

I'd like to mention that I've been playing this more and more frequently with my friend who hates melee but tolerates project M for some reason (he likes Lucas). It does feel a lot smoother as you play more and more, but it still feels a bit slower.

Not sure if that can be changed at all, but just figured I'd drop by to say you've done a solid job. It really does capture some of the things that made Melee great, I just wish the programmer of vBrawl weren't so ****ing lazy. Seriously, non-modular design? It should be easy to edit things. That's what good programmers [are supposed] to do.

Considering how much of the game we've been able to edit, I'd say that it actually is relatively modular. :p

As far as how the game feels - It feels a lot better in the current backroom builds that the demo does. If you want to help shape the game any, you should consider applying to the PMBR. You're a skilled player, and high-level playtesters are what we're after at the moment. ;)

alright. Hopefully it's not too different. I've essentially stopped playing the Demo about a week or so after LD was fixed...because I didn't want to get use to the wrong mechanics. If it is more like melee i'll be able to tell since i've been exclusively playing melee for about a month now...I'm almost mediocre. If I train really hard the next 2 days I should be average :D.

in all seriousness though I'll MM you eventually in PM as long as you MM me in Melee as well :D.
