Personally, I don't flow too much and I'd like to change that. That finishing combo on M2K at RoM3 and some of my games vs Armada at SR were times when I was flowing and it felt amazing.
I liked the game where you flowed right off the side of Yoshi's and SD'd instead of getting an epic 4-stock. :glare:

If it's mostly for use when gaming/chilling in your room, I recommend the headset I use. I've worn those bad boys for 10-hour-straight sessions and not had any discomfort whatsoever.

Not really appropriate for wearing out in public in stuff, and they're $100 which was right at the edge of your price range, but god damn does music sound a million times better than with earbuds. I also get to sound***** in CoD. :troll:

ya, i should of added more info... it's only for use on my home desktop, i don't really care how it sounds with my ipod or whatever else

also the main thing i care about is comfort, im not an audiophile, although im not against the idea, and i wouldn't mind getting better sound and appreciating the music i listen to more (i mainly listen to classical, so im sure itd make a difference)...

but basically, im not gonna notice minute differences in the bass of something or other random **** like that. I just really want to make sure i can wear it for a long time and not have it get hot on my ears or have it be too tight (i wear glasses 24/7 too if that makes any difference)

after like the last 10 minutes of research ive found these 2

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826106328

This one seems like the best one, but i really like this one

http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD...?ie=UTF8&qid=1350359910&sr=8-1&keywords=hd555

these are more expensive than id like, but i remember my old roommate had them and they were REALLY comfortable, and i don't really give a **** about noise leaking out or whatever... im gonna be alone in this world until the day i die... which is great, since that means there is no one to bother with noise leaking

i'll look at those 2 as well though, thanks guys

Yeah, glasses with tight headphone pads suck which is a major reason I like the pads on mine. What kind of classical music do you listen to?

@dkuo

- Stop fsmashing randomly. Not only is it frequently missing and leaving you open for punishment, but it's wasting KO opportunities where you could easily just double dair Peach to her death way earlier.
- Stop LHing on with weak dairs and just ledgedash.

Kumar, are you a big fan of classical music when playing melee? I've never tried it but I'm thinking it would kind of be the ****.. I just don't know where to start.

Suggestions?

i would recommend Grado SR60i or SR80i. you don't need to be hardcore into music quality to be able to tell the difference, and if you're listening to technical music like classical you'll appreciate the refinement.

they're also still under 100.

I'll give you a bit of follow up. Remember that what sound you're looking for, etc. is fairly subjective. So like what I, or others find to be a weak treble could be enough for you, what I find to be piercing could be what you want, etc. I recommend putting at least some time into this as you could be listening to this pair of headphones for years lol.

I compared the Denons to a bunch of stuff, off the top of my head I remember Sennhesier HD218, 280 and 558, AKG K7, Shure SRH440, Grado HF1, Alessandro MS1 >_> the big name stuff, there were a lot more; this happened several years ago so forgive my foggy memory. I also tried out a lot of in ear stuff but since you said headphones I won't bring them up (mention if you'd be interested).

Basically I went with them because I thought they had the best sound quality for the budget I was working with ($200). I also really was looking for something I could use out of the box without worrying about an amp or anything. For the sound, the bass is kinda strong and on the other end of the spectrum the treble is a little warmer than like where the middle ground would be for most of these headphones. More than anything for me the sound was defined, like I think the sennheisers iirc had really fuzzy bass by comparison. Also, for non noise-cancenlling headphones they do a pretty decent job of blocking out surrounding noise X.X

It would be hard for me to gauge the comfort of the other ones for you since I tried them out in stores, etc. and I would only have them on for a few minutes. It doesn't really compare to like, wearing headphones for hours at a time in hot summer weather. I'll say that I've worn mine for hours on end like, either running/walking, on 8 hour bus trips to Montreal, etc. and that they're very comfortable and that sound doesn't really leak either.

I've had them for almost 3 years now, the first pair I got had some loose wiring that kept causing the left side to cut and eventually die. But it has a pretty long manufactures warranty and the place I got them from honours that. So they sent them in for me, they came back. This actually happened twice >_> But since then (about 2 and a half years ago) I haven't had any other problems with them and I use them pretty heavily. Like, I use them a pretty inordinate amount >_> I can't imagine that like your headphones dying on you would be a big problem if you took care of them amongst alot of the choices in this price range, however that's the story on the AHD1100s that I own for the record.

Unknown was using mine for most of Big House 2, so since I know you read this thread Ryan if you wanna like give your opinions on sound quality/comfort and whatever than do so xD

Edit: And yes, I agree with what Umbreon said. You don't need to be a hardcore audiophile or whatever to notice the difference. But I don't necessarily like the two Grados he listed xD

yeah grados aren't that comfortable at first. you kinda have to break in the headband. it's not so bad though.

Mmmm, I actually can't speak for the sri60, but I'm pretty I tried the 80 at some point. More recently (well maybe not that recently) I was using my friend's sr225s they were ok actually. From what I heard on price, I think they might just be too expensive for the quality

Super edit: Mahone, the biggest message I should have put in that larger post was that you should find a store wherever you live, or in a major city close to you that has a large selection and go try them for yourself. You can do some quick looking online to see what some of the better options are, etc. so you have an idea going in, especially regarding like extended listening comfort. But I'm sure whoever works there could also give you some answers to basic stuff like that

Pony up more $ and get http://www.amazon.com/Denon-AH-D1100-Advanced-Over-Ear-Headphones/dp/B0042ETXRQ

I found mine locally on sale for like $140, just look. They're out there
If you want a denon get Creative Aurvana Live. Same OEM.

also similarly, Superlux is similar to AKG, and Samson is the oem to superlux and has some pretty nice beyerdynamic headphones since Beyer shares the same oem as well, and for mad inexpensive.

@Redd: I listen to Pietro Antonio Locatelli, Vivaldi's concertos, and quite a bit of modern minimalist.

you can definitely find a HD555 for under 100, but they are kind of boring and you'll get tired of them pretty quick. with that being said, they are probably the best headphones you can get under $100. you can also do 2 mods on them to make them sound better than a stock HD595.

I don't know too much about lower end headphones, but audio technica has headphones for $125 or so that are supposed to be really good... haven't personally tried though.
those denons posted above are a solid choice, I've tried them before and the only issue i had with them is the bass was obnoxious, but good if you like a lot of bass. All of the above don't need amps so just plug in and ur g2g.

OR you could save some money and get a HE-500 aka cheapest high end headphone on the market.
ofc, with that being said, you'll have to drop about double the cost of the headphone on a dac and amp to drive it properly LOL

out of those, i've only listened to the sony mdr v6, and i'd advise you to stay the hell away from those lol.
My brother has them. maybe 10 years ago they were considered good for their price, but they really do sound like ****. and with $20 more you could get a hd555.

i listened to the sony mdr 75xx, the one thats like, one step above the mdr v6 and it sounds amazing.

I love mid-centric, and bright headphones, so idk.

My personal recommendations will always be skewed towards open/semi-open headphones, or Audio technica headphones.

I liked the game where you flowed right off the side of Yoshi's and SD'd instead of getting an epic 4-stock. :glare:
yeah well sometimes man stuff just things because yeah

hey guise wanna give me some crit? :D :D
watch me get demolished by doh http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iv5CB343y4k

did better 2nd game but still ouchouchouch
i looked through it myself and noted some really dumb decisions on my part, but feel free to rip it apart :)
-don't be afraid of dat shield peach mostly just counterattacks. you especially need to be confident at lower percents.

-hit peach back into the ground at lower percents for tech chase combos or at least keep her above you for bair/uair/utilt juggles

-don't get stuck when shooting. if your lasers aren't going to do any good for whatever reason then quit shooting. if peach is floating in this case, then take to higher ground or make her try to commit/float backward and punish/counterpressure

-don't get too comfy relying on lightshielding vs Peach it can still go bad if she lands into grab. just shield DI down/away(away works fine for me) it keeps you from being grabbed

-you give up stage for free too much and do moves for the sake of followups instead of considering their purposes. don't laser to jab if you don't know what it can do or how you can follow it up. jabs poke, lasers set you up and the combination forces people to shield more/set up for a kill/lead into more stuff. that's a starter

-Don't worry about hard read Fsmashes they're not worth it vs Peach. Just Dair combo, it's safer and then you can convert it into pressure sometimes if it doesn't work.

-alternate idea, don't be afraid to laser. just shoot and observe the reactions instead of fearing the float. if you don't know how to beat it or intimidate peach then practice vs it. I'll tell you right now the top platform is mad good and so is sitting under a platform and there may be something to walking up angled Ftilt.

-I think you need to flow with your movement a little more. Stop being so jerky/stop and start. This will probably come with you practicing more movement and options out of lasers and experience, but it's still a flaw worth pointing out.

-when you get someone in stun, you have a little bit of time to plan combos.

-you did pretty well game 1, but then kinda autopiloted and got even more rigid. try to get more fluid and flexible with your game! do a move, see what the opponent does, interpret the results, adjust. have pretty movement/lasers in the meantime.

some thoughts.

Not in the mood to write right now, but this should happen to anyone trying to improve. It's you tapping into your intuitive knowledge and really flowing with the match. I believe that this state can be recreated more often than is naturally experienced as long as one is motivated enough by whatever causes them to go into this state in the first place.

Most older top players(Ken, Isai, Azen) couldn't verbalize their thoughts very well but could flow really well. It led to them having really good and really bad moments. Newer top players like myself seem to be more....rational I suppose, but this comes at the potential cost of losing that flow state. I'm sort of guessing there though, as I don't really understand intuitive knowledge and am currently of the opinion that I couldn't explain it even if I did know about it.

This post was a jumble but I wanted to write about it anyway because it's an extremely interesting topic and I thought about it recently.

Flowing... hmm.. that's cool, an interesting concept indeed. I'm wondering what triggers can allow me to tap into this flow. I'm guessing athletes get something like this.

You think, actually thinking about it and trying to rationalize it disallows you "flowing"?
I guess this goes into the psychology of the game.

BTW should I post my videos for critique here 'cause I'm not getting responses in new topics.

A good example of my flow is when I'm in a good mood and have no anxieties on my mind. And my flow feels ****; minimal tech errors and consistent momentums. But what triggers that? I think it's person and day-dependent.

To elaborate a little on my opinion, whatever factors contribute to your mind working at an optimal level. While at the same time, not focusing on the fact you're focused. So what Kebbin pretty much said, diff werds.

Reminds me of lucid dreaming. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucid_dream
I've lucid Dreamed/dreamt (whatever) before and of course was aware of it but if I thought too much about it and screwed with stuff in my dream, I usually wake up.

I had such a dream last night that I got a bunch of tattoos, and it was so realistic that after I woke up, I was thinking "wow, why did I get a bunch of random tattoos?" Then like 30 seconds later I just though, "oh wait, it was probably a dream *checks arms*".

OMG I just realized this is probably cause of Jman's posts in the Fox thread. XD

ya, i get what ur saying... what kind of stores do that?
I have no clue how big the city where you live is or what major city is close to you. Any decent electronic entertainment store will suffice. I don't recommend going to a major brand store like bestbuy or whatever because the selection there tends to be awful at best. Like a one of specialty store is probably your best bet; even if you don't buy from there because a lot of times those places are more expensive it's where you should look at going for testing because of the range of products you'd find.

Use google/phone book/even ask people at like a guitar center/bestbuy/whatever. Someone will eventually be an audiophile that can help you X.X
