stab, are you using control stick or jump button to do shine turnaround bair?

if you're using control stick:

it's possible that you're being really imprecise with your turnaround. like, let's say you do a shine and then turn to the left. your control stick might be held in the up-left position, so when you try to hit up, it doesn't make you jump because you're already holding partially up.

i used to have trouble with shine turnaround bairs because my hands were too used to regular shine bair, so yeah, i DID have to delay the jump.

what really helped me with shine turnaround bairs was trying to take it step-by-step and then just getting faster over time. so like...

shine -> turnaround -> jump and bair

instead of trying to make it all one fluid motion off the bat

if you're using X or Y:

yeah, you're probably pressing X or Y too early loool

does anyone have any advice on how to deal with players like west, axe, vman, etc.

:phone:
There is always a hole in shine > aerial / grab pressure and whiffed multi-shines do nothing to a shield.

If you can determine their intention with their pressure you can probably find a way out.

falling speed =/= weight

pretty much...

falling speed determines how far you get sent vertically

weight determines how far you get sent horizontally (and i think it also factors into when you get knocked-down), so a decent indicator of how heavy a character is is whether they slide or get knocked down by fox's shine. fox's shine will knock down lighter characters (e.g. fox, falco, jigglypuff), but it will make heavier characters slide (e.g. peach, samus, falcon)

falcon is HEAVY and FAST-FALLING

fox and falco are LIGHT, but FAST-FALLING

samus and peach are HEAVY, but SLOW-FALLING

jigglypuff is LIGHT and SLOW-FALLING

ARe you sure? He is a FAT a** character lol. He natrually fast falls. hes like 30 m/s^2 gravity lol
( about 3 times normal gravity)
define heavey character. No offense tee ay eye ive been rooting for you for years, just trying to learn as much as i can.
Bowling balls are heavier than marbles, but they fall at the same speed.

Also, a bullet fired horizontally from a gun will hit the ground at the same time as a bullet that is dropped from someone's hand (in a vacuum).

I wasn't defending them (there's no need to john for them, and clearly you already know what their issues were anyway), so much as I was stating the fact that you are a ***** *** no-name hater
lol so what? you're better than me, but you don't exactly have major wins stacked up either

i'm mid-level, you're mid-high level, but its irrelevant

no reason to be butthurt, i was born in FL so i **** talk for them

you were born in/moved to (for reasons other than smash) SoCal so you **** talk for them

i don't see what the problem is here

well then perhaps instead of mid-high, he's just high

*shrugs* if you **** talk, people can shikt talk back. Even being a top player doesn't exempt you from that.

there were so many falcos at the big house! it felt like I only did falco dittos for 3 days, it was great

I'm not sure what to do against peach. I feel like she doesn't lose control as much as the other characters once you catch/hit them, and it makes it hard for me to position myself to contain her. Maybe I'm just not moving tight enough. Is pp basically the go-to falco for brainstorming ideas vs peach?

If you want to contain Peach, you must first understand her options. She's basically only got counterattacks, so switch up your positioning/attacking strategies once you get laser control of her....unless you were also curious about laser control?

If you need more specific elaboration please ask, but your question was kinda confusing so I'm hesitant to explain more.

PP is the go-to Falco on like everything.
why thank you sir =)

lol Boss was pretty upset watching the stream because it was literally 90% Falco dittos and Falco vs. Fox.
LMAO Boss totally would hate that hahahaha

pp do you think you would be better, worse, or the same skill level if you lived near and played with another top player before you became a national level player

PP is much, much better than me, but I would argue that I know a little more about the peach match up than him. Especially when I watch the dumb decisions he makes sometimes, and when he gets defensive when i point them out. x_x

Ya but knowing the matchup in relation to what? I mean if you really knew the matchup better than it should mean you should not lose to any Peach.

This isn't necessarily true. Smash knowledge, and player ability aren't always directly correlated.

If they were, the game would be dominated by Magus/Strongbad, and Axe would be the worst player in the game.

Just because I know as much as I do about fighting peach doesn't mean I'm suddenly a better player than every peach player ever. I'm still going to lose to a peach player who is a better player than me most of the time, though I might be able to steal wins from peaches who aren't as accustomed to the match up as I am.

Knowing how the game works is completely different from knowing how to play in a way that lets you win. The large majority of their knowledge are simply facts that can be memorized, or simple processes to understand like how DI and stun work. PP's knowledge of how not only Peach, but Peach players work is much more abstract. You can't simply explain to someone how Peach plays and how you have to play to beat her. On a lot of levels, I don't think top players themselves know all the reason for why things are done the way they are. Sometimes top players just base decisions of intuition based on massive quantities of raw experience with the game.

Everyone makes dumb decisions sometimes. If you don't agree with each other on why some of his decisions are good or bad, you should talk about why instead of taking it personal. The number one rule to arguments is to make your goal to convince/persuade them you're right. Too often people get into their caveman mentality of "me vs. them", and will instead try to argue their opponent into oblivion. All that ever does is put the other person into their defensive denial mode so that they won't agree to even the most reasonable things. I have had problems with this in the past because I get passionate over things that I argue about, and when people don't see my side I tend to get frustrated and angry instead of trying to empathize and alter my perspective (shoutouts to arguing about religion on the internet all through middle and high school). And I don't mean that in the way that you might humor their argument, but rather truly embrace Devil's advocate so much to the point that you almost incorporate their views as a universal truth before trying to think out the problem.
