i think he was just making sure you weren't implying that the jump cancel occurs before the shine, as it does in a jump cancel grab. as for a JC grab, the jump cancels the fact that you're running, and then you do a standing grab. in a JC shine, the jump cancels the fact that you shined, and you grab before leaving the ground.

i'm pretty sure you get it though.

jc shine is jump -> shine (first airborne frame)

To say you approach with a JC shine is to say you run forward and cancel your run with a jump and then shine on your first airborne frame. This gains you extra speed and range.

In other words, JC shine is one segment of a multishine.

Huh? This kind of confused me.
What would you call it when you shine-jump cancel in place then?
Idk I'm lost lool

What's the advantage to cancelling your run with a jc shine as aposed to just crouching and shining?

A big enough difference to matter?

JC Shining is way slower (I wanna say 4 frames, but it might be 5, not sure exactly how crouching out of a run affects your actionable frames). The 1 advantage to JC Shining out of a dash is that you can do it during the initial dash frames that you can't crouch out of.

correct me if i'm wrong, but out of a run you get more distance quicker by JCing your shine rather than crouching and shining. IIRC this is how zhu always approached with his shines.

It might give you a little more distance since crouching stops your momentum whereas jumping maintains your momentum, but afaik, you would do just as well to continue running for those 5 jump startup frames and then crouch and shine. I'm not 100% certain on that though. The main use of JCing shines out of a run that I've seen were cases of Foxes waveshining characters that go just a little too far to connect shine -> wavedash -> shine on (like marth for instance). So like, I know I've seen Eggm chain shines on Marths by shine -> wavedash -> Dash forward -> immediately JC the dash -> shine.

watching the mango falco match i posted earlier made me conclude that the match up vs peach is 50:50 in terms of stage advantage.

I wonder why peach players dont ban yoshis story when playing against Falco. I was watching an old Mango vid. He dair>shine>dair>shine>shine.

Heres the vid.

It's kinda easy to corner Falco on YS, but yeah for the most part Peaches don't like dying early so if RC was gone then they'd ban this stage. That still leaves PS though, but at least you can't shine off the top as easily there.

The level is banned in tournaments now btw. Or at least in most tourneys.
Well I'm pretty sure at Genesis 2, Cruise and Brinstar will be off.
What are you talking about? I never heard about that.

It's on the Genesis 2 dbr Facebook thing, at least they are heavily considering removing brinstar and RC for the tournament. And I'll be one to be sure that they are banned! As I want everyone to have a more equal chance to win... but that's just my vote. I know SW agrees with me and I'm pretty sure most people will anyway. Brinstar is gay as **** along with RC. I don't want to win because I auto-win 1 match because of a CP its dumb.

Kage's been making less and less sense lately.

Maybe it's part of being the warrior.
What sense are you talking about?

RC is not banned.

Genesis hosts are allowed to make their own rules, but those apply only to their own tournament.

Cruise and Brinstar are excellent counterpick choices that ruin standard DD play and promote aerial spacing instead. It is this forced adaptation that we value in CPs and why we keep them. It would not surprise me that any textbook player would want them banned.

Only place in the world that still has cruise and brinstar are select regions of the US. Even in the US, regions are slowly converting to neutrals only.

My favorite ruleset is a 3 stage strike between yoshis, battle field and dreamland with stadium, fountain and final destination on counter pick

Idk.. what do you want me to say here? I mean I could talk about how I could improve my personality.. but I'm not sure where you getting at. lol.

really? i thought everyone still used the pound ruleset.

that's kind of weak...i like my brinstar...
I do too.. but.. it ***** everyone too hard lol even the gayest of players get ***** by the stage if just one little thing goes wrong. Just last tournament I made Jigglypuff in teams die from 0 to 140 with one hit.. thanks to invisible wall and the lava. He just kept getting spiked, it was ridiculous!! lol. However, incredibly satisfying.. haha.
