1) shine
2) do nothing
3) wavedash
pretty simple yet effective advice..

the 2nd part is the most important, you basically want to reset your analog stick back to the neutral position before trying to wavedash, so that you dont turn around mid shine

ummm, no? I don't see it at all. again, vids or it didn't happen.
Y'know, instead of being an ******* about it, you should make a video yourself. I don't even own Melee, let alone video capture software. I'm sorry I can't show people what I see, but I see what I see. I notice a difference in how Green Falco's Nair and Dair look in comparison to Blue and Red, and it helps me play better. It'd appreciate it if people would stop trying to debunk this just for the sake of debunking it. I see what I see, and nothing will change that.

seeing things that are not there is a huge sign of schizophrenia. I advise seeking medical help.

Ruby never learned about logic in grade school and the concept seems to be outside of his capacity for understanding.

lmao just let ruby see whatever he sees

i've tried every colour myself, and every colour other than neutral bugs the hell out of me

i'm sure i'm not the only one with colour palette issues

I want to stick with blue but I really don't play as well with blue as I do with green. I always feel as though I'm channeling the powers of Forward, V3ctorman, and Axe since they all play green, or did at one point, plus I really do notice subtle animation differences with green in comparison to the other jackets.

if it helps you, then by all means, play green.

my falco grew up in the shia/chops era, much like many other falcos, so i generally play neutral

zhu blue is also kinda nice though
but last time i saw him play, he used green =(

Stage Control

So guys, let's talk about something productive like stage control. I bet most everyone has seen my Bairs/Bair threatens on Armada at this point haha and that's an obvious example of making use of stage control, but how else can Falco capitalize on or maintain stage control? This is pretty important as smash is a king of the hill type game and having more stage also allows you opportunity to retreat if necessary(and punish too hopefully).

For faster characters I'll keep a steady laser game going until I feel like I can approach and try to force a roll inward since I can't actually threaten with a move like Bair without the chance of being caught offguard/off-balance by the opponent's speed.

Ideally, I'm looking for a desperate approach or a need to escape mindset formed so that I can gain momentum and punish instinctive/defensive habits. Being by the edge is great for this type of punishment too since if I time my hits well and make sure they all push the opponent towards the edge then I can get earlier kills than I would if I made a read towards the middle of the stage.

And, similarly, what would Falco be trying to do when he is boxed into a corner? Most people are doing the Mango Full Hop to threaten with a Dair at this point, but I find WD OOS to be useful as well. I tend to be okay with doing a single hit cross up like Nair/Dair/even Fair lol just to get out of a near-gimp situation as well. I will say that being without stage control is very difficult for Falco as he is slow and without momentum the psychological game will greatly affect Falcos sitting defensively by the edge.

Edit: I probably should have written a ton about stage control in general but I'm tired so cut me some slack lol.

Well to be more serious, I think most players do not understand the importance of positioning. I mean hell even I didnt understand it fully until a few months ago. Like always try to position your character in an area where you can have the advantage and have easier reads.. if not youll get punished by placing your character for example above Ganon, that's for example a terrible positioning. I think it's very important.. and with it knowing your tools at all times is equally important to acquire stage control.

PP, you talk a lot of things that is extremely high level lol.. well I guess thats how it must be if one really wants to improve to that level... =P I'm not sure how many can actually grasp the wisdom of this.

DAMN Ocean gettin' off

@Rubyiris: Youll note that there were ilke 3 pages of people ranting idiotically about how different colours made them play differently. After like a hundred people told you you were wrong, you should have said 'oh well, I feel like I play better with green,' not "**** YOU GUYS IM ALWAYS RIGHT." You're an idiot.

Also: PC has the prettiest falco... duh.

Sorry guise. I'm going to say Forward's Falco is tied with PP's for prettiest Flake-o.

Secondly, @Kage: I think that as a collective Falco group, those who really want to improve their Falco and get up in the rankings with that burning desire would pa full attention to this like you said. :p Scrubs like myself.

Ya.. it's a good idea. So all the responsibility of the players is to actually grind a principle until it becomes 2nd nature.. live the moment and experience and make conscious effort to remove every little bad thing.

I've never tried it myself(due to fear of getting stuck in my shine lol) but it could be worth looking into.

LOL I never liked grabbing a lot with Falco just because of not many guaranteed/semi-guaranteed things from those grabs(to me it feels that way sometimes although I could just be not fully considering some things lol) but yeah I need to stop those full hops and at least get the shine grabs I mean to do so I can learn more and make more of my opportunities.

Dude just aerial their shield with any aerial, and shine grab. I guarantee you they won't spot dodge it unless you conditioned them REALLY HARD by doing it 2043904 times in a row to them.

you know you can shine-grab before they can sheild grab right? There's a lot of stun on their part because of the shine hitting their shield

With fox it's not as good. You can shield grab Fox's shine grab, but with Falco, Falco will grab you first because of his shine-shield-stun on his opponent
