Hmmm, if anyone ever needs help or advice, I can build Desktops. I built mine from scratch from Newegg.

On another note, I've been playing D2 for the first time ever. At Act IV, lv25 Druid. Doing a Summon/Werebear build :3.

On another (another) note, FFXIV got Artifact (Traditional looking) jobs/armor. Almost made me want to go back, but blegh. I'd never play anything else, and thus is the curse of mmos.

I'm considering building my own desktop while I'm in college. It should be interesting.

Is anyone here in the beta for Guild Wars 2? I'm considering getting it when it releases, but it depends on how good the internet at my college will be.

Also, just got Borderlands + all dlc for 8 bucks on steam. The sale ends in an hour and 15 minutes, if anyone's interested. The vanilla release is 5.

A pal of mine does this, but I want to avoid talking to him for reasons. You're able to order every specific part you want and put it together yourself right? Is it hard to put together?

It's not "hard" per se, but I recommend researching a lot to the point where you can do it without looking things up.

My motherboard died when I moved, so I had to buy a new one. Well, it's cheaper to get a motherboard/processor combo, but I had two 1TB HDDs.

So after researching, I upgraded my motherboard, processor, and video card (one instead of two in SLI-mode), and I finally bought a new case.

Total, I spent $400, but I had a lot of stuff already. Assembly took less than 30 minutes.

The hardest part is putting the case together, I swear. Every Case has its own rules.

Thanks again fellas, building a computer probably isn't going to work out for me too well. I'm going to look into the CyberPower one after my family decides what/where we're doing/putting with the older one

Sorry to be annoying with all these questions, but when I load up the games I have on Steam, half of it gets cut off and I have to make it a window in order to be able to see everything. How can I fix the display?

I have no clue why the hell they came out sideways in the e-mail.. stupid phone

This is my full monitor, as you can see the right side is black, and the left side shows 3/4's of the game

For clarity, this is the side that is visible. All of the game options such as "New Game" "Options" "Quit Game" etc are cut off.

This is what I meant by "Run in a window", but I don't believe I'm able to make the window bigger.

edit - Going to put them on an image sharing site now, sorry about that.

Please upload those pictures onto an image-sharing website, like Imageshack, Photobucket, or Imgur. Even if I copy their urls, I can't view them.

Ohhh, nice. Totally within budget.

If it had the 6870 instead, how well do you think, let's say, Skyrim will play?
I want to say I have a lesser model than these, and I can play all games at highest settings.

Yani, that's really weird. What's your resolution and what's your screen size? Did you try to play CS full screen?

I'd say double check the video settings in CS. I believe there's a aspect ratio option in source games.

Ahh okay that did it! I kept the resolution at the lowest option hoping it would make the game run better. When I set it to the max, it fit my monitor perfectly. Also to note, if I keep it in "Run in a window", changing the resolution will make the window bigger too. Thanks for all the help guys

Watching more videos of TERA online.

I am really liking how it looks, but I don't think It'll do very well in the U.S.

Especially with Guild Wars 2 being Free to play

I saw the video for Tera Online, and it doesn't look anything different from all the MMOs I've played. It has a Rift-like appeal, and Rift just flopped so hard they have to give the game away.

I think the problem with MMOs today is they are looking at WOW and saying "How can I beat that?" You can't, so don't try. WoW's fanbase spends $180 per year just to have access to the game. You will not squelch that.

Before WoW there was UO. Any true MMO player has spent a lot of time on that game. The PVP in UO was completely laissez faire (in one world... but that's a different topic), so if I was walking through an area, I could be killed by some guy I never met. This was awesome because it meant I had to be trained to fight any one, and it gave a huge sense of accomplishment when I beat other players. Even WoW doesn't do that with its PVP zones.

Tera Online is just another in a long list of "the next big thing." I have been playing MMOs since 1998, and I have seen them all fail: Shadowbane, Anarchy Online, Camalot, Star Wars Galaxies, Matrix Online, LOTR online, Rift, and a bunch of little ones that no one has even heard of. I'm all for giving Tera a chance, but nothing presented will make that much of a dent.

Wow (and SWTOR) is cool, but to me, it isn't worth 15 bucks a month. The same goes for other MMOs.

GW2 is free after the original purchase, which really appeals to me, so I'll try it out.

I just like how you have to aim to attack. It adds a little skill to the MMO formula.

Plus the artwork is wonderful.

Guild Wars 2 appealed to me at one time. But then I watched videos on it.

It may be free to play, but their are some things they just did horrible with that game. I wouldn't try it at all if it wasn't free

When you talk to an NPC it switches to a screen with a still background and has the characters in an awkward positions talking to each other by making random movements.

It just looks horrible

A storyline NPC, not all NPC's

I just took a look at the game's style of conversation.

Besides the generic background, it's not that bad. It's basically a fully animated and voiced version of the style of conversation that you find in most 2D JRPGs nowadays. Hell, it's identical to what Diablo III is doing.

Guild Wars was okay, but it quickly became way too limiting for me.

At first, it was neat seeing all the people in the lobby, but basically, the lobby was one big, graphical chatroom.

Civilization V is 75% off on Steam today. It's a fun game if you can past the fact that it's not like the rest of the series.

Lesse, the tiles are hexagonal instead of square, there are city-states to deal with, and now there can only be one combat unit per tile.

More critical fans of the series have complained about dumbing the game down with the lack of religion and espionage, but those are apparently going introduced in an upcoming expansion, and even then, I find the game fun as it is.

If anyone's interested I have a spare Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Beta pass on Steam. If you want it, let me know.

Also, I still have an unused Humble Bundle 3 Steam key.

Hey Porkins, put a little space after porkinspullip and put at instead of at. Spam bots love to roam public forums and harvest emails like that.

Just do it like porkinspullup at gmail dot com (or something similar), and you'll be fine.

I already PM'd you, StB, for the bundle key. Thanks. ^_^
