PC Gaming: Humble Bundle Discussion

F8AL suggested to make this in another thread, so I went ahead and did so. It's rather sad to see what's been a major part of gaming culture for many years now not even get its own thread.

Now I know that the other console threads have system specifications, but PC specifications vary, so I won't bother.

As for PC games to check out in particular, start here It's a large image, so I've included a text version below for mobile users.

Just gonna repost, what I posted in another, less related thread...

Since there is no "PC" thread, I'm gonna post it here. I got an email/unique code from Gamestop for a free game. If you go into a store between now and March 19th with this code, you can get a free download of "Stoneloops of Jurassica." Pretty much a puzzle game. PM me if you are interested in the code and I will forward you my email.

If this is just going to be Indie games, why not name it "Indie Game thread"

Not all PC gaming is Indie games, there are a lot of mainstream PC titles

the thing that made me ask in the first place was because most major PC titles have a thread already, so I figured this would be like an obscure game/hardware thread or something

I have thought about getting a gaming pc sometimes. Sadly I don't think I'd be very good at building one myself. And idk where to find a cheap pre-built gaming pc.

I saved up a lot of money, went to the best electronic store around, and said "Give me your best PC".

Of course, you don't get it cheap that way

Yeah, that's true, lol. I might just wait for the summer and save up some more money from my job.
What I found surprising, they didn't automatically send me to the most expensive PC and just say it was good, they actually took me to the best PC there, even though it was a couple hundred dollars less than some others

That I know. I should have just said that it serves a similar purpose to the other console threads.

I just remembered that I have spare Steam key for the third Humble Indie Bundle, which contains Crayon Physics Deluxe, Cogs, VVVVVV, Hammerfight, and And Yet It Moves. If you're interested, shoot me a VM.

I like PC games. I remember I went on an insane shopping spree during that Steam Christmas sale and I ended up blowing 60$ on like 50 or do games during the time

I have yet to install and play half of the games I installed though, and I really wish I could get a gaming PC that could play the other mainstream games that my computer can't handle. It's pretty much the only reason I stick to indie games, most of the time the games in that genre don't really ask for that much from my crappy intel dual core processor laptop :/

There are games on steam that a laptop like that can run? That's great considering my laptop is basically the same as yours. I'll have to check it out.

Well games like The Binding of Isaac and Super Meat Boy among other indie games can run pretty fine on my laptop. If your computer is like mine then it can't run mainstream games like Skyrom or something. And either way I prefer indie over mainstream. I feel like there's more creative ideas in the indie genre than there are on console, and whatever mainstream game I want on Steam, then I could just pick it up for console if I really wanted it

And my favorite PC game of all time still holds up to be The Binding of Isaac. I swear I got hooked on that game for about 2-3 months just trying to get every ending ever. I basically got all the way to my 10th ending and since Sheol is such a ***** I just kinda gave up on Binding since I couldn't beat it. I really wish I could beat it, but no combination of power ups I try can beat Sheol and Satan. Mom's Heart is always a pushover though. If anything just getting through the rooms themselves is harder than hell than Mom's Heart. There's no way I can lose to Mom's Heart unless it wants to be a ***** by spawning lazer eyeballs at which point I just go ****. Even Mom somehow ends up being harder than her heart somehow

Though I can't say for sure, I'd imagine you could check out some of the older games on Steam, like the first two Oddworld games or Interplay's Fallout games.

So I have Gamestop's download service on my computer, but I might download Steam as well. The only thing is, will having both download services on my computer slow it down? I only have one game from Gamestop/Impulse, which is Morrowind. Is there a way to transfer Morrowind to Steam's library somehow?

I wouldn't know, since I don't use Impulse.

I know you can add it to your Steam library as a non-Steam game. If you mean adding the game to your Steam account, I don't think so.

I just mean adding it to the steam library so I can have Morrowind and any Steam games I buy accessible from one place.

There should be an option in the lower-left corner of the Steam client to add a game. Click on it, select "Add non-Steam game," and look for Morrowind.

I'm actually almost solely a pc gamer, and have been since near the end of high school. The only notable exception is smash brothers :3. Most other console games I play are single player ones. Pretty much all my multiplayer experiences are PC.

Big starcraft 2 and FPS gamer. Built my own tower for the first time last summer and its been amazing so far.

Hey M@v, have you had the need to upgrade your PC at this point? I'm curious to see if you have had any trouble running some of the more recent releases at max settings. I feel like the long lifecycle of the PS3 and 360 (supposedly 10 years instead of the typical 5) has slowed down graphical enhancement in PC as well, given so many games these days are on all 3 platforms.

Not at all. I got a gtx560ti graphics card in mine. I5 sandybridge processor and 8gb of RAM. I can run bf3 on a custom setting between high and extreme with no hiccups, and I can run max with some frame skips and stuff, same story with crysis 2. In all honestly though extreme in bf3 isnt much different from high. Starcraft 2 I'm running full power with no sort of hiccups.

So yeah, i cant run a couple games on max perfectly, but I also only spent $250 bucks on my graphics card. I went for the best bang for buck card on the market right now(Imo)

When I do upgrade, the cheapest option for me will probably be to get a 2nd 560ti and SLI them, instead of buying one super beef card.

I've decided whether or not I get into TERA Online, I'm going to get Guild Wars 2 as well,

Guild Wars two isn't the best look MMO (IMO) but the fact it has NO monthly fees makes a big difference

I was always a fan of Guild Wars from the outside looking in (meaning I never played it.) This one might get me to play it.

It looks like TERA Online doesn't have much of an end game at the moment.

In Korea, players are straight up leaving the second they hit max level because there is nothing to do.

A shame, because the game looks wonderful/

I WAS hyped, until I saw how the game handles the NPC's talking with you.

It goes to a screen with a still background and the characters talk.

It looks horrible.

Im sure then will fix it if people complain about it enough, the game hasnt even come out yet. So if even it is in the game, I dont think it will be game breaking.

Hey all, I recently got a hold of my old Steam account, and would like to start playing on it. For whatever reason, CS runs like trash on my computer. I couldn't even get TF2 to start up.. Anyone know of a reasonably priced PC that could handle these two games at least? Would appreciate it :)

CyberPower offers cheap gaming computers. I had issues with them because I tweak a lot, but the parts are still in use in my new rig, that is I had to build because I killed the MoBo.

Thanks for the tip! Just checked them out, the $600 one seems right up my ally, so I'll be looking into it for sure

Word of Warning: they never answer calls, but they do provide the cheapest assembled custom computers.
