I'm hoping the leader of these new fish pirates ain't so tough. If anything, Luffy and gang should be light years ahead of them given the fact they think Arlong was the shiz >_>

lol. but they are underwater. home turf. even arlong would destroy them down there.

luffy is allied with jimbei though, so that could definitely come into play

One word...Haki.

Seriously though, I think it would be disappointing to see the SH crew struggle in a fight after these 2 years of training. Normally, shows tend to go on a trend where the characters own after a long training session, and then they face tougher enemies on their level.

just like with thriller bark and skypeia though, i think the unfamiliar environment is going to be extremely challenging to them. like pointed out in this chapter, there are 4 fruit users and they're deep in the ocean...

They'll finally have a member that can fight better in water than land?

Idk, it was just a thought

Good chapter. Those mermaids better not let Caribou out, though most likely they will.

Also, the new fishman boss looks a bit like Arlong from the silhoutte.

As for Hachi joining, I don't think that would work out. Hachi wouldn't be strong enough.

Nah, Jimbei promised to meet with Luffy again in Fishman Island and he's not the type to break promises.

He also swore to Ace that he'll look after him.

as a former shichibukai and iirc new captain of the sunny pirates, i'm pretty sure anyone down there would listen to him

if that's the case then i still think theres potential for luffy to "tame" another sea monster
they need something big to fight san juan wolf -maybe dorry or brogy if they come across elbaf later on(if it's even in the new world idk)

If they ever happen to come across Laboon again, he will follow them undoubtedly, making him their biggest mate

One Piece is among my favorite manga, and pretty much the pinnacle of shounen adventure manga, in my view. I'm extremely glad I decided to read the manga even after seeing the unimpressive 4kids dubs on Cartoon Network.

While I agree the plot of the arc up till now has been somewhat predictable, I've enjoyed it immensely nonetheless, mostly because I think it's leading up to something amazing. And because I really have no clue about what's going to happen in this arc from here on out.

I don't understand how people can like the anime but not the manga, unless they don't like manga in general. Personally, I'm the other way around. I love the manga, but don't much care for the anime, even the Japanese version. The animation just kills it for me, unfortunately.

EDIT: And just to clarify, I definitely don't want to argue with anyone about the relative merits of the manga or the anime. I don't mind that anyone prefers the anime to the manga, and I'm not going to try to convince anyone that they should feel otherwise.
well i've a answer for your question that why the people don't like the manga because some people think that will the boring but its fully enjoyable!!

Is there going to be a chapter release today?
No. The last issue was a double issue, meaning one week without a chapter.

If only a double issue meant double chapters... but no.

spoiler that some animu ppl dont know that
Those people should not be in this topic. When I was an anime-only watcher I steered clear of this topic.

Those who have not been spoiled of that have been very lucky. It's nearly impossible not to be.

you cant just link the episode from funimation.com?
Nope, people are too obsessed with their unnecessary untranslated Japanese words and fancy fonts to realize how awesome it is that we're getting a legal Simulcast.

HWhat? A christmas release?
Yup, two days ago. =P

And that was a great Christmas present, along with the anime episode! I really didn't see that coming. Sure is funny to get a new chapter and episode on the same day.

However, that means we won't be seeing a new chapter for like three weeks. So we get to enjoy another long break. But it's nothing like the time skip one, so we'll be fine. ...Right?

ewww a 3 week break? where was this said?
We got this chapter REALLY early. I'm not sure the details, but I think One Piece goes on a two week break, which will be three weeks since we got this chapter so early.

For some reason, I didn't find Sanji's nose bleed stuff that funny anymore...I guess it's because they made it actually part of the story instead of a joke.

or maybe it's getting overplayed.

It's been overplayed, at least IMO. I never found it all of that funny to begin with. Hopefully this is what it was leading up to and we get Sanji back to his normal self after this arc.

Jokes leading up to plot points can be done VERY well and actually be VERY funny (think of Duval).

^i think itll end soon, once he gets srs and stuff...

but hey its One Piece....
I don't think Sanji would want SRS.

...Just saying.

EDIT: Wait, when you said "srs", did you mean "serious"? Silly internet chat speak.
