Dawn of the Final Day: 24 hours remain
We are now less than 24 hours away from Nintendo's E3 conference. Anyway, since we are so close to the E3 conference. Here are my predictions pertaining to each of Nintendo's series:
Mario:
I expect maybe one or two announcements, however, they will be just be spinoff titles (sports or Mario Party in particular). Mario games that were announced that I expect to see are Super Mario 3DS, Mario Kart 3DS, and Paper Mario 3DS. I personally don't expect a Mario platformer to be announced for the Cafe (or at least a 3-D platformer) since the 3-D team is busy with Mario 3DS.
Donkey Kong:
Donkey Kong Country Returns was a massive success. However, the question remains whether Retro will decide to make a sequel to their latest hit before the Cafe is released. Personally, I think they can get a Donkey Kong Country Returns 2 out in 2012, and would be a good last hurrah for the Wii. However, it is quite possible that Nintendo has commissioned Retro instead to begin work on titles for the Cafe with the Wii on the way out. I personally don't expect any Donkey Kong titles to be announced aside from Donkey Kong Country Returns 2. There might be a small chance we see an announcement of another crappy Paon-developed DK title for the 3DS.
The Legend of Zelda:
The only new announcement I see for Zelda at E3 is some sort of special edition compilation disc for the series 25th anniversary. Other than that, Skyward Sword and Ocarina of Time 3D are both obvious shows for E3. Hopefully, we will get a release date for Skyward Sword.
Metroid:
Since E3 2001, a Metroid title has been present at every E3 with the exception of E3 2008. With that kind of track record, I expect some sort of Metroid announcement, particularly for the 3DS. The most likely Metroid games I can see being announced for the 3DS are the elusive Metroid Dread (or a 2-D Metroid of some sort) or Metroid Prime Hunters 2.
Yoshi:
I don't see anything for Yoshi. However, there is the possibility that a new game is made by Artoon or Good Feel for the Wii or 3DS. Yoshi is a bit tricky to predict.
Kirby:
I don't expect any new announcements for Kirby, considering there are two Kirby titles already in development. I am curious thought whether Kirby DS4 (yes, another Kirby game is being made for the DS, not 3DS) will be released internationally. Of bigger important though is Kirby Wii (formerly known as Kirby GCN) which finally got a new trailer after being vaporware since 2006. Kirby seems to have a tendency to having new titles released at the end of a system's life span (Kirby's Adventure, Kirby's Dream Land 3, Kirby Super Star Stacker).
Star Fox:
Obviously we are going to be seeing Star Fox 64 3D. However, will a new installment also be announced? Personally, I think its a little late for there to be one for the Wii. However, I think if SF643D does well sales wise, I fully expect a new installment for the Cafe or 3DS to be greenlighted.
Pokemon:
I expect the announcement of a random Pokemon spinoff. There is also the small chance that Pokemon Typing DS gets localized.
F-Zero:
F-Zero has been dead for over six years. I expect no new software titles for the series. If a new title is announced, it will probably be a port of F-Zero X for the 3DS.
Mother:
This series is finished and dead. The only thing I expect in the future for this series is a port containing all three games for the series. Nintendo should have released one for the DS (especially considering that many games on this platform were 2-D). It might be a little more awkward to release a compilation of the Mother games for the 3DS, but it should be done anyway.
Fire Emblem:
FE12, a remake of Book 2 of FE3, was released last year for Nintendo DS in Japan. The question is whether Marth's second quest will be brought outside Japan. E3 represents the last chance for this game to be localized. If it is not shown at E3, then the game will stay Japan-only. There is the possibility we might see a new Fire Emblem for the Wii (perhaps they would like to use their PoR/RD engine one last time before the Cafe is released).
Wario:
I expect a new WarioWare title either for the 3DS or the Cafe.
Pikmin:
Pikmin 3 is finally shown off, and its a title for the Cafe.
Kid Icarus:
Just Kid Icarus Uprising.
Miscellaneous series:
I am surprised a Custom Robo game was never released for the Wii. They still got that engine from the GameCube Custom Robo, and probably could get away with not making any graphical upgrades for a Wii title. I also expect a new Starfy title to be announced, especially considering there has not been a new title for the series since 2008. As for Golden Sun, I think its too early for a GS4 to be shown, but I have a feeling that its now in development for the 3DS assuming Camelot is not on sports spinoff duty.
Smash Bros.:
Nothing will be shown or mentioned, however, someone will ask Sakurai about it though and his response will be: "laughs*
