reading the old posts on this page make me lol. everyone eating their words right now
Haha, just read a few pages back. Too goodz =)

It's not like Armada came out of no where though. If people had payed any attention at all to how he had been playing the past couple of years they would have known about how good he was.
But I guess we Americans love thinking we're the best in the world at everything without any evidence at all =P

Sethlon is very good, I have no shame in losing to him. He has a lot of Peach practice, and I have almost zero roy experience. I do feel that I could have played better, and maybe even won. But realistically I believe he's just better than me.

I have no vs Roy experience (i suck vs marth btw). I was nervous, as I always am in tourney. And i couldn't figure out how to approach him because he had great spacing. Every time I tried to use turnips, he would back me into the edge of the stage where I had no where to run, and than just sat there spacing forward B on my shield. I honestly don't know how to approach marth/roy without turnips, plain and simple.

Why don't I see people use float canceled dair-grab? Peach grabs behind her. Unless they smash DI far enough away, this should be near-guaranteed.

Dair grab isn't very safe for a lot of reasons. A) It has ****ty range so its not easy to get the dair off so its not a safe approach. If you do connect it, its usually with the bottom of peach's feet, so you have to fall all the way down to the ground before grabbing. B) It has almost not hitstun, so you can move as soon as the dair is finished. If you do it on someone's shield they will just shield grab u or roll. If you do it to a person they might just shield afterwards, but if you do this more than once or twice its very easy to catch on and punish.

The best is fair grab on the shield. The fair puts on so much shield stun that if done right, its almost a guaranteed grab. No one really ever does anything cuz they are afraid of dsmash after fc's so even if you are off by a few frames u are usually pretty safe.

Aye yo Cort.

Why did Jfox lose to Sethlon on Mute City?

;D
Hahaha <3 Alan

You really don't need turnips to approach Roy. You just have to **** him... Unlike Marth, he really has no range. Just rush him/space your aerials and you'll be fine. Not to mention, you can practically CC everything Roy throws out you at low percents. And at high percents, Roy has no sure way of getting his kills save for Smash attacks (which are easy to see coming).

But if you really want to play gay/****, just platform camp lol.

i think you are over simplifying the match up a bit. Peach cant just sit there crouching and roy is all of a sudden ****ed, and i dont see how platform camping is at all effective vs roy (sure it gets you out of danger, but it doesnt really get you on the offensive at all).

Sethlon primarily used spaced forward B so that cc was ineffective. His tech chase/roll chase game was real on point so he would often get those big hits no problem. I do think I probably could have been more aggro against him cuz your right that his range is quite lame compared to marth, but I still found that even with his limitations he made the matchup see pretty close. Sethlon seemed to have lots of peach practice, which doesnt surprise me since he lives in texas.

W/e im fine with the loss, sethlon is overall just the better player so he deserves the win.

Thinking Armada wasn't that good before Genesis does not make one an idiot.

Afterwards, however....
this must mean I'm super smart because I already knew he was good before genesis

..okay maybe not good enough to give mango a run for his money.

Fine, I didnt think he was THAT good, okay?! =(

btw Cort are you still into Stadium? I remember like way back into 2004/2005 I was obsessed with HRC but now I like can't stand playing stuff like that haha.

We should get that guy on these forums.

But thanks for bumping this, Cort. It gives me a chance to ask you if AR's performance at Genesis changed your mind about Peach's potential to place well in tournaments, if not her overall strength as a character.

And you truly are going to RoM2? What about lb4? I want to see more Cort rapage >.<

Not going to any tournaments until I secure a job :(

Also Armada is extremely good, though to be honest he shouldn't have beaten M2K in that set. I wish M2K would have taken the set a bit more seriously and not up b'd out of shield randomly so much <_< But no juans, major props to Armada.

Armada is really good with stitches also.
The OP of this thread is amazing.

Cort do you still play?
I'm playing tonight with some friends :)

Though, I haven't been using Peach at all.

/sympathy to Cort for joblessness. The only thing worse than working is not working >_< I seriously, seriously hope you're able to resolve that situation soon enough to compete at said tournaments.

^_^ at your determination to abandon Peach.

I'm gonna do teams with Light this weekend at Pat's house. We'll mostly use Peach/Fox. Are there any matchups you might suggest I use Falco or any other character?

I've also been thinking about using d throw during teams, possibly letting them tech into a Peach d smash. Any experience on that? It may not work out so well, if not I've always got up throw > hit them to peach's nair =D

I like Fox bthrow for this better. Peach can space it to basically FC nair to dsmash tech in place/miss tech and roll away (from Fox). The only thing you have to do as Fox is either hit after the nair/dsmash if they come your way or do something if they roll towards you. Plus I think Fox recovers faster from back throw so your not as exposed.

Dthrow they can still tech in place or in the roll direction away from Peach, I just feel there is more of a chance for them to escape.

As for possible matchup issues. At your caliber of play it's unlikely that you have any unwinnable matchups.

One of the great things about Falco is his ability to save and frustrate edgegaurds in teams. With Peach as a teammate that's largely avoided since you can't really help her out much.

As a style change Sheik/Peach is a good team as well if your having trouble with strong aggro teams. That's really the only thing I can think of, if you feel you can get gimps/survive better going Sheik in certain matchups. If anything those would be the two teams I would want to be most familiar with.

PC usually plays both Fox/Falco in friendlies or early rounds to see which is playing better. If his Fox is playing really well he'll just use him the entire time regardless if his Falco is playing really well, but if it isn't he'll try Falco etc.

Dthrow is rather random sometimes unless you can get them right near the ledge to cover both of those options while the Peach is already positioned in the other. Uthrow is pretty much guaranteed any other parts of the stage and if your Peach is very aware of what's going on most of the time they should be able to volley them back to you with pretty much any move.

This is the exact same in Peach's situation, M2K taught me to dthrow near the ledge so Fox can follow up really easily or I can if they DI it in.

hey cort how have you been?
do you play brawl+? what's your intake on it?
would you like some pie? what's your fav?
I'm okay, would be a lot better if the places I've applied at would actually return my calls.

I have played Brawl+ and honestly I feel like it's basically a gimmick. It's fun for the first hour and then it gets boring just like regular Brawl does.

My favorite pie is coconut custard followed closely by APPLE.

I thought the same thing when the first versions came out, but now even pkm plays b+ in mtl. I like the fact that I can actually try to main random in this game, since everyone is good. And combos yum yum. Also, if you have good DI you can live to ridiculous percentage, but if you have bad DI then you can die at 40% from a knee. So I get live for a long time! You should play the game and get money while people still suck.

edit: also, the game changed a lot since the first version, don't know when's the last time you tried it but meh.

melee is still the **** though. what about pecan pie?

okay my bad was kinda in a hurry with that post sorry...

I mean mainly on rolls and tech chases

for example when they roll on the gorund away from me it feels like i can't get to them to punish fast enough

and with rolls i am kinda hurting b/c i feel like i can never read anyones rolls idk if you have any help with this....but yea

overall i feel like my peach lacks mind games any ones mind games that you think are able to be told would help

The only real time you can catch up to rolls/techs is if they tech in place or if you get them right near the ledge and predict them teching into the middle of the stage. Otherwise Peach's run speed greatly hampers her ability, imo.

lol, mindgames don't exist. Just play safely and space attacks, that is like 40% of Melee. The rest is matchup knowledge and to a lesser degree, counterpicking.

Mike G are you going?

and cort okay so your saying if i am well spaced that i can beat anyone... well for one even tho i see this as a almost impossible question to ask how do i a practice spacing and learn how to be perfectly spaced? and another question that i feel stupid asking b/c i feel like it is obvious yet i can't see it is how do i space myself if i am out ranged?

also is their anything i can look at that will tell me all the size of hitboxes and the proirities of all the moves?
