You get groin protection right when pballing right?

:phone:

Ted and Aero- Thanks guys. I know it's 10 frames but I was trying to get a visual of the animation period.

So is the idea to try pummel at every input they make so that you put them in hitstun when they try to jump, and then pummel just before they release?

Also, did jump escaping out of suicide moves (specifically bowsercide) get removed in PAL versions? You're just supposed to mash jump but I could never get it, and even tried it in slowmo.

Their mashing speed changed their release speed. If you're looking for a ground release, pummel, if you're looking for an air release, don't.

The times mashing thing is for characters like Ness/Lucas who don't want to be ground released. Against characters with slower pummels (e.g. Wario), they can time their mashing between each pummel so that they are more likely to break out of the grab when out of hitstun, thus causing an air release.

Well I'm talking about Bowser, who has a pretty slow pummel, and I want to be able to consistently force ground releases. Most opponents will mash to reduce grab time, and those who know about his release will try to force jump releases.

Aero- I wasn't sure if there was a difference or not, it's just that I could never get the jump escape to work, and I was mashing jump even in slowmo where I could get more jump inputs per frame. I doubt the fact it was training mode had anything to do with it.

Dayam.

But they do include standard protection in the original cost though right?
Yep. They might get sued if people are sustaining serious headshot wounds or something.

Apparently some guys' toilets at paintball areas have pictures of wounded testicles to encourage you to get more protection.

That's not cool. I'd pay for it, even if it was stupidly expensive.

Sorry to nag about GRs again but I wanted to know that if you decide to react to the type of release, whether you could effectively buffer the follow up or not. I can't tell whether the reaction frames would waste all the buffering frames or not.

Thanks in advance.

Shaya have you been paintballing before?

also im pretty sure "standard protection" or "standard gear" only includes the compulsory headgear, and the camo jumpsuit. you have to pay extra for body armour if you so choose to, as well as groin protection, w/e

usually you only get the standard gun as well

probs what most important when looking for a paintball package is the number of balls you get, rather than anything else
some places are like yeah onli 10 dollah a game but then it costs like 30bux for 100 balls or something ridiculous like that

Gords, how about I take my wii to your place tomorrow so that we can play some smash (yep, I'm keen enough to bring my wii around uni; haven't played nonwifi in ages)? I'm going to med revue that night with a friend anyway.
I can no longer play smash tomoz on account that i have to see course coordinators tomorrow after my classes to get permission to approve a timetable clash i have for next semester. I do 2 courses a semester, trust my luck that they clash.

I've been thinking we should all go laser tag or paintball or something along those lines for a while now, seriously how have we never done such an obvious group activity?
i have been to laser tag with the smashers in Qld, although most of the people that were there were from other states.

Also EA, do you have my wii

buffer period is universal. also, string buffered pummels to force ground release (although iirc it's more complex than that and there are corner cases where you still air release that we dont understand yet). to force ground release as the grabee dont mash with jump inputs. fairly straightforward.

gords I do have your wii

escro rouse hill is literally one suburb over from riverstone, you sure it's not the same one? :p
http://www.actionpaintball.com/
all packages have standard gun, overalls, goggles, and a number of paintballs
+$10 for bodyarmor
+$20 for a different gun (or more)
edit: they also updated the site with $40 starting package prices. \o/

LOL shaya not everyone has the weakest body in the universe.

Martin,
It's not just one consultation, I have to go to 2 coordinators then to the science student centre to fill out a form. My case is also a little more complicated since the courses I am doing I technically passed 6 or 7 years ago.

Also it's getting close to crunch time at uni to start preparing for exams which start in about 5 weeks so my time is limited. Also remember imdont live alone and i dont want to disturb my house mate much around thisntime as well. However don't stop asking because I would really like to play some smash as well. Maybe next semester we can can organize a regular thing with those that go to unsw.

By the way, are you coming to casino smash on 19th may. I will be posting more details later this week.

Well good luck with those consultations then; I hope that you'll be able to remedy things.
A regular meet sounds great! That'll just depend on whether our timetables allow for it or not.
And I'm probably not going to the casino meet because I'll be at a friend's 21st (unless your meet continues way into the night)

E- I know that there's a universal buffer period. I'm asking for when the buffer frames are, eg. if it's from when they're released from his hands to when they stop sliding away.

Leish- Where do you work?

Doesn't it just start 11 frames before you can start an action? Cos if it started from the release from the hands, then you'd have a longer buffer period.

I'm interested to know where you work as well, Leish. Sounds ominous.

Wait, Dre, you live in Enfield? Finally, someone who actually lives less than 40 minutes drive from me, lol. Look forward to meeting you at the tourney (might even be able to give you a lift), and we should be able to organise some smash meets, heh

Martin, the smash casino meet will be all day Saturday, probs go to casino around 6:30/7pm have dinner and gamble. After those gambling lose their money or we get bored we will return to my place to play some more or sleep for the tourney the next day.

LOL at that A.

In that case, I might go over when it starts, and leave for my friend's 21st when you leave to go to the casino, and come back some time at night if you guys are still awake.

it starts 10 frames before they can act, in this case that is a short period of time after the release (release lag is something like 30 frames although I'm not 100% sure on that). tbh I'm not sure what isn't obvious about this if you knew how it works and knew it was universal.

Standard grab release is what? 30 Frames? 40 for Ness and Lucas?

So just do it 20 frames into your release animation.

There is no way people can be like "DO IT AT THIS POINT IN THE ANIMATION".

Practice it and get it down. It's not actually hard.

Another common mistake people do is holding down grab when they try to buffer it. It must be pressed and let go or else you'll buffer shield.

Awhile back I PMd you because I was interested in attending one of your meets and I remember you lived fairly close, was it Concord?

A lift would be handy because I'm not sure if I'll have a car that day but I feel really bad getting a lift off anyone, especially someone I've never met. I'd definitely shout petrol money though. I still need to see whether I'm working or not that day.

Meets would be cool, and to be honest just getting offline action against competitive players would be nice for a change.

Ah yes, I think I remember that. Shame you didn't come that day.

If you're coming to the tournament, I'm more than happy to give you a lift - I'm already taking several people anyway, and it just makes it easier for everyone. It would be great if you could make it; it's a great place to meet everyone and introduce yourself to the scene.

As for meets, I think the last one I hosted worked really well. I'll definitely look into organising another one when the uni semester finishes.

I've nailed things like dtilt before out of GRs, but I'm not sure if I'm buffering it correctly or if the opponent isn't reacting quick enough.

I read somewhere that you're supposed to press diagonally down forward when buffering dash grabs otherwise you'll buffer a roll. I tried to buffer a pivot grab by holding the opposite direction then trying to grab in the original direction but he just did a pivot backroll. Am I just doing it wrong or is it impossible to do this way?

Invisi- Assuming I'm not working, where would you want to pick me up from?

I'm planning to pick up a few people from Redfern station, but I'm guessing it would probably be easier for you just to catch a 464 to my place beforehand so you don't have to use several modes of transport, would that be right?

Strat station is only a 20 minute walk from my house and I like the walk so I'm happy to just catch a train to Redfern. I'm better with trains than buses anyway and I'm more likely to screw up catching the bus to your place.

I'll probably wear my purple gengar shirt so that you or the people waiting to get picked up can easily recognise me and hopefully we can avoid an awkward situation.

I have to check with work, but if I'm not working am I supposed to say I'm officially attending somewhere on these boards so they have a better idea of the numbers?

I don't think it's necessary to confirm your attendance prior to the date, but I'm guessing it's probably helpful. Just a post on the tournament thread saying whether or not you're coming.

I'd be more than happy to give you a lift from Redfern, assuming you're able to come. On that note, if anyone else would like a lift to the tournament from Redfern, just let me know and I'll see if I can fit you into the car. If you need it, my number is 0433344661 (but don't consider it a reliable method of contacting me other than on the day of the tournament, lol)

Just confirmed that I'm not working that day, so I'm definitely in.

Invisi I'll PM you my number and we can work out details. Thanks for the lift, I appreciate it.

Just curious, including friendlies, MMs etc. how many matches on average would you get to play in a day? I'm just wondering because I'll probably lose all my pool matches, and probably won't get many friendlies due to no one knowing me, and having zero authority in the community.

In the U.S., code of conduct is like this:

Go to a TV and wait til someone loses a stock and ask "Is this tournament or friendlies."

If it's a tournament/MM, they'll say so and you ask what game they are on. Then you proceed to troll the **** out of them until they hate you.

If it's friendlies, you say "Can I get in next?" and if possible without interfering you plug in your controller to let them know you're in it to win it.

Hey guys;

Can anyone help me with my Wii? A while ago, EA helped set up Homebrew/etc on my Wii. Unfortunately I bought a proper copy of Skyward Sword, and after the update Homebrew is mysteriously gone.

So uhhhh...How do I get this awesome Project M working? I have a PAL Wii, does that mean even downloaded NTSC Brawl won't run it? D:

Also I have no clue how to get Gecko/Homebrew back on my Wii. If it's not too much trouble, can someone help me through this? Or even set it up for me? D:

Would totally be down for a meet should this happen, btw. Wants some melee games.
