can have a meet my place saturday and go to casino that night, come back to my place afterwards. then super close to the venue for the tourney sunday.

the tourney is on the 20th May right, if so i still have that entire weekend off so i can still do that.
sounds better for everyone.

I wont be able to do the weekend of the 12th since i have mothers day events i need to attend.

Yes Invisi, Gords hosting a casino night on the 19th means the tournament is confirmed for the 20th.

Wasn't sure where to ask this (there's like a million NSW threads) but when you guys have meets do you guys also do things like laser skirmish, indoor football etc.?

we do occasionally do non-smash things, like movies and some physical activities. ted goes rock climbing regularly if you're into that.

I've been thinking we should all go laser tag or paintball or something along those lines for a while now, seriously how have we never done such an obvious group activity?

Escro- I live in Enfield, which is near Strathfield and Burwood.

There's Golden Goals at Strathfield Station, which is basically like indoor football but with a synthetic turf.

I think playing paintball deaf would be a really interesting experience, although I've never played paintball before.

I don't think your frustration would be much higher than your pain levels as paintballs ****ing HURT. And everyone else there would be feeling that extremely bruised and beaten up body especially around the lungs/chest frustration.

You'd have to be a **** to shoot a blind person though.

So when you do these activities is it half a day of smash then the other half doing the activity?

On a completely unrelated note, if I go to a tourney someone needs to teach me in depth grab release mechanics.

Gords, how about I take my wii to your place tomorrow so that we can play some smash (yep, I'm keen enough to bring my wii around uni; haven't played nonwifi in ages)? I'm going to med revue that night with a friend anyway.

What do you wanna know? Anything specific?
A couple of things-

When the buffer period is, I've always just assumed it's when they're released from his hands and they're sliding away. I'm never sure if I'm buffering correctly.

How to force ground releases. Apparently you're supposed to adapt to the rhythym of the opponent's pummeling, but I'm not sure exactly what that entails. I think you can also pummel just when they're about to release.

If you can react to an air or ground release, or if you have to commit to one beforehand.

Also if I should practice more complex releases in slowmo first.

Lololol so many conversations at once

Ea- wenever i go pballing i go to the one in rouse hill since its the closest. No idea of how the prices match up

Shaya- it doesnt hurt that much. Its part of the fun anyway :p

Ted- how well can you see? Or lack thereof iirc you wear contacts, does that help a bit?

Martin- so it turns out i need to be at uni tomorow anyway to do groupwork so if i have s chance i might drop in for some smash. Ill call you or gords if this happens lol

My vision is omnitrash. Can't even drive. Without my contacts I couldn't function lol.

Dre:

Ground release occurs when the character is in hitstun from a pummell OR when the grabbed characters feet are on the ground and they are not mashing.

Air release occurs when the character is mashing out of the grab and is not in hitstun OR when the grabbed characters feet are off the ground, even when not mashing.

The buffer period for anything in 10 frames, thus to buffer anything out of a grab release you do the input within 10 frames of the grab release animation for your character ending. You CAN react to a ground or air release.

Don't practice in slow motion. Just get good enough to do everything at normal speed.

Just to add on to what Tedeth said, there's a third release called the pummel release, which is basically a ground release but they release closer to you. Marth's grab release on Ness and Lucas requires pummel releases to function.

For some reason I thought throws had different buffer frames, but I don't exactly have a TV to boot up frame advance to verify that, but it's probably 10 frames; yeah.
