I've actually never played a RE or MGS game before. Snake Eater 3DS will be my first. Only giving it a try because I really enjoyed Snake's inclusion in Brawl. I think I want RE now too :x.

Whoa, stop right there. Get yerself a playstation an play the first MGS. imo it's one of those games you HAVE to play at least once, up there with things like Yoshi's Island, Mother 3, and a few other amazing gems of games.

Ahh I'd play it, but I traded in my Ps2 :(.

I'm hoping the Mother series will make it to the U.S.

Earthbound did, we'll never see a remake here due to pretty large legal issues with regards to the samples used in its music, Mother 3 we probably won't see, I personally ripped my copy of the game and applied the translation patch (because swag of having legit cart is swag), Mother... maybe. It's a distinct possibility, at least.

I think it would be better for newcomers to the MGS series to play Snake Eater first, then MGS, MGS2, MGS4, as it is the order of things.

Also, if you're gonna play and get MGS3D, bring your charger with you, and play in an area where you can charge your 3DS while playing. Don't want to have to shutdown the game in the middle of a cutscene due to low battery.

Or...Nintendo expected it to not sell well, and did not produce that many? Lol...you gotta look at the flip side too. They did the exact same thing with the Nintendo Wii, where they purposely did not meet the "demand", causing more demand in the process
I know the flip side. The Circle Pad got so much flak from the gaming community, that Nintendo couldn't afford to risk selling in different stores. To be honest, not even I thought the Circle Pad would sell to the point that it would sell out. Anyways, Nintendo knows how to sell their stuff, as you just said in your Wii example.

Well yeah, but a copy of Earthbound now runs for $180+ on eBay

Tis' a shame it won't come to VC. Why do you say we won't see Mother 3? Does that have music samples too?

It's so sad the mother series has all the legal issues :c
Such an amazing series hidden from the public eye.

Mother is an obscure niche JRPG. It's not simply because of copyright issues that they won't remake it or make more games...there just isn't that much money in it to waste time localizing or making a new game in the series.

In Japan it's not really that obscure... It'd probably do well if they released a new title over there.

Though Itoi made it clear that he has no intention of doing a Mother 4.

He did YEARS ago, but more recently he gave it another thought.

Doesn't mean he will, though

I have a mint boxed copy that I found in my Grandparents basement (among other unopened mint games), they let me have it for FREE. "brags"

It's a shame they won't release it on the VC though. With all of the licensing issues it makes you wonder how we even got content from those game in Smash.

I don't even want a new game.
I just want to play all three in English and legally :(

I will be extremely EXTREMELY surprised if we ever see a mother4

I'm so jealous :fuuu:

That's EPIC though, for real. Hopefully all of the Mother fans keep harassing Nintendo to localize it

Actually, the main legal issue stems from the samples they used in EarthBound for the music.

The music in the smash games doesn't use those samples.

Therefore, no legal quandaries.

Yes you should be jealous. I haven't even mentioned the 20+ other sealed games I found (which will most likely be my inheritance). :p
Ex. Super Mario World, Super Metroid, Zelda: LttP

Well Nintendo caved in a bit on Project Rainfall, so who knows, anything could happen.

Yaaay, we get a demo less than a week from release. Still getting the game, but this demo will determine if I get it day of launch or not. Without a pre-order. Because I'm a boss like that.

Well I just looked that MGS3's release date, I didn't know it was coming out next week. :surprised:

Thankfully I'll be home next week with some Birthday money so I can pick it up along with a pre-order on KI.

I'm having silly credit issues with paying for it but I technically have it ordered and Amazon is holding it while I do.

They so nice.

(credit issues aren't owing money, they're some silly eccentricity with paying my bills where I can't use my credit card for x days after paying it off :/)

So is excite bike 3D any good? I never played the original game and it looked pretty decent from what I saw so I wanted to ask before I blow money on it

Hey guys, I'm cool.
Add me.

Also, I am downloading the Snake Eater 3D demo right now. It's about 50% completed. Whenever I've played through it completely, I will post my first impressions. It looks very promising, especially considering how much I loved the original Snake Eater.

EDIT: First impressions:
Controls feel VERY tight, especially compared to Portable Ops and Peace Walker.
Very low FPS, seemingly about 15. Disappointing.
The graphics are good for the 3DS, and they look slightly better than the original.
The 3D could have been done a bit better, but there is a very apparent sense of depth.

All in all, it's good, but not as good as I expected.

Just to note - I'm pretty sure this demo was the one from e3- so it really doesn't justify the game

Played the demo with and without the Circle Pad Pro. Everything felt good, but like Rhyme said, the framerate was crap at certain parts. (Cut-scenes) During gameplay, it wasn't that big of an issue. I prefer the Circle Pad since I can use ABXY for specific actions. (Stance change, action, etc.)

I was mostly messing around in the demo, trying to CQC everybody, and exploring everything to see if it was the same as the PS2 version, and it was. So if you played the crap out of Snake Eater on the PS2, then you may want to pass on this, since it is just the same game.

The game mixes in Gyro controls to whenever you need to keep your balance (on a bridge, or on a branch,) but so long as you keep the 3DS steady, its all good. Plus, after watching the trailer, you can use the camera on your 3DS to take pictures of your surrounding, and use that as a camo. A very nice touch. I assume that you'll need to obtain the camera in-game in order to use this feature, but all in all, still a good and fun idea.

Not only that, but the touch screens allow you to go through menus with extreme ease, so that you can get what you need done quicker. Plus, it displays a map at all times.

Biggest beef with the demo is gonna have to be the fact that I have to go through Options, calibrate the Circle Pad, just to be able to use it. Hopefully in the full game it'll detect the Circle Pad and give me the option to use it before I reach the main menu screen much like how RE did.

All in all, good game, I'm gonna pick it up once I reach level 50 in RE: Revelations' Raid mode. (I'm Lvl 48 now, so it won't be long. =D)

EDIT: Rhyme, I'll add your FC. My code is: 1590-5236-9299

I have added you, Dak.
Am I the only one who's agitated that as soon as the Zelda bundle loses its hype, the Kingdom Hearts bundle is released? It's like Square was waiting, trying to punish fans who bought the other bundle.
