They should put Hero's party spirits for the 4 and 8 heroes too.

I really like 8's cast.

My favorite character from 8 was Red, who wasn’t playable in the PS2 version of the game. She was just such a cool looking character. I’d love a console remaster of the game that included the improvements from the handheld versions.

I think Dragon Quest should at least stick around for how iconic it is in Japan. If Smash Run were to return, then plenty of its monsters would make for fun enemies.

Less RNG mechanics for Hero.

Actually that's what I hope will happen rather than think will happen. Hero's not OP but I'd be lying if I said I considered them a fun character to fight.

I might be in the minority here but the one thing I’ve never cared for about Dragon Quest is the music. I really like the art style and simple, classic RPG combat and characters but I could never really get into the soundtrack. I’ve only played DQVIII and DQXI if that matters. I love the soundtrack of Octopath Traveller and I can listen to that all the time on its own. There’s a few songs that are kind of cool in Dragon Quest but nothing I absolutely love.

I really like the art style and simple, classic RPG combat and characters but I could never really get into the soundtrack. I’ve only played DQVIII and DQXI if that matters. I love the soundtrack of Octopath Traveller and I can listen to that all the time on its own. There’s a few songs that are kind of cool in Dragon Quest but nothing I absolutely love.

understandable, the DQ music was made by a TV and film composer not a videogame composer, so it doesnt sound traditionally "videogamey"

Honestly, I wasn't that engaged on Dragon Quest series until Hero was revealed in Smash Bros years ago. I am starting my adventure in Dragon Quest III HD-2D. However, my history with the series isn't completely dark as I did play this game when I was younger....

I feel like people vastly overestimate how characthers will get cut I think it's gonna be like 10 min to 20 max. People who think they are gonna cut half the roster are kinda of dumb

I wouldn't call them dumb, but I do agree that cuts are being overestimated. Up until now, cuts have occurred for 3 reasons, let me go quickly over them and try and explain why I think they're not as big an issue as I previously thought:

Technical Limitations: This one is simple to explain. Characters like the Ice Climbers were cut because the console, in their case the 3DS, couldn't run them properly. I presume this is also why the Chorus Kids didn't get in Smash 4. The Switch 2 will be more powerful than the Switch so there should be no Ultimate character that would have this sort of issue going forward.

Lack of time: Sometimes low priority characters simply get unlucky and there's not enough time for them to get in. This is the reason why Mewtwo and Roy couldn't make it to Brawl. Even Pichu was sorta going to come back if pra_mai truly was Plusle & Minun. If Sakurai's current project is a new Smash Bros, it already has the exact development time as Ultimate. No matter when it releases, if Sakurai's project really is Smash, it'll be the Smash with the longest development time ever. To add to this, it's very likely that Bandai Namco are the developers again, allowing them to reuse Ultimate's assets and save themselves even more time. What I'm trying to say is that lack of time may not seemingly be an issue.

At this point, I really doubt any of the third parties wouldn't want to come back, even Square Enix and Disney. A little known fact, but besides having two DLC characters, Square actually had the most amount of Spirit Events on Ultimate. If anything I expect Square to come back and get even more DLC characters like 2B or maybe even Clive. As for Disney, Sora's status as the ballot winner would probably make his return a priority for Nintendo. Even if he doesn't come back in base, he'd absolutely return as DLC.

I used to think we'll get a big amount of cuts, but I don't know, I've started considering the possibility of there being little to no cuts lately and found myself slowly convincing myself that it could happen.

I wonder if we’ll get any Remake/Rebirth arrangements if we get Cloud and Sephiroth back. I loved the soundtrack for Remake but haven’t had the chance to play Rebirth yet (though I own it on PC now).

I'm not annoyed by people talking about a SEGA super smash bros, i'm annoyed at the pointless drama for i think 2-3 pages at this point about a user upset why it doesn't exist yet, like i feel there's times that is just better moving on instead of agreeing back and forth, just me.

Yeah, I don't understand why it was even an argument in the first place. We've talked about a SEGA Smash Bros under here before no problem but this time, it caused all that? That's just crazy!

I think base game will have quiet a number of cuts but that a good chunk of them will come back via DLC seasons, which is what every other fighting game does in current year, a mix of old and new characters as DLC.

If Sakurai's next project is Smash and development is going from early 2022 to (presumably) mid-2025, I don't think unique 60 veterans returning and about unique 15 newcomers is that out of the question.

Not counting echoes, Ultimate brought back approximately 55 characters from Smash for Wii U and added about 13 new characters (if you treat the returning characters as each constituting a newcomer's worth of work) on approximately 2.5 years of dev time.

I’ll use some of my own most wanted for this:

Battletoads, Fulgore and Bill Rizer - “Literally who?”

Jinx, Illidan and Kerrigan - The company that owns them are terrible people that shouldn’t be supported (there is at least some truth to that to be fair)

Magus, Alphen/Shionne and Sub-Zero - Same as Pyra and Mythra with people being upset they didn’t go with the more expected character from their series.

I could definitely see all of those happening.

Crash and Rayman being very iconic characters with recent roles on Nintendo systems helps them a lot.

Ryu Hayabusa is in the best situation he has ever been in with 3 games coming out this year and the Master Collection coming out a little while back

Geno is… well Geno. He’s become the Ridley of modern speculation.

Bomberman is a weird one but I feel like if Konami gets a character it’s going to fall between him or a duo, Castlevania-esque echo, announcement with Bill Ryzer and Lance Bean but Bomberman seems more safe to me.

and for me seeing Doom Slayer or Master Chief come in to finally, fully, close the circle on represented genres is a dream of mine. I love Doom Slayer and he deserves it more but me and my best friend would literally die if Chief got in. It would be a dream come true.

It depends how the next smash game is.
If it's a regular smash bros. sequel like Brawl or Smash 4 were, then i expect no more than 7 cuts, like usual.
If the next game changes things up considerably or it's mostly made from scrach i expect the cuts to be in the 15-20s.

Sans and Ryu Hayabusa by far. (Altrough i guess they could get in the base game too lol), Crash is also up there.
