Modern Marth is fine.

Now, Roy :ultroy: , on the other hand, should go back to his Melee design.
My personal hot take is that I'd rather have the Fire Emblem Lords as a whole go back to the retro anime-style they had back in Melee; Or at least the earlier ones, the newer Lords can keep the newer anime style their games have. It's a really neat look that I feel stands out more than the semi-realistic proportions they gave them in later games. In general, actually, I'd rather Smash lean more into a cartoon/anime -styled look rather than the washed-out, detailed semi-realism

Ima be so pissed if :ultsteve: doesn’t come back in the next game. If they balance him or smth idc but he needs to be in there
I doubt Steve will be cut, i think some people understimate how iconic and nostalgic Minecraft is for Gen Z, it's also the best selling videogame EVER (at least so far).
I personally have no interest in Minecraft and only played it once, but it was popular with some of my classmates back in 2011 and we were 14, its defininitely one of Gen Z's most beloved games, and Gen Z is probably going to be a good chunk of Smash 6's sales.

I feel like Steve, alongside probably Cloud is going to be one of the third party veterans kept as DLC next game.

I wonder if his reveal will hit as hard the second time around.

Other than that, how would everyone react if :ultdoc: was DLC next game?

I keep forgetting Roy is just a 15-year old boy. :roymelee:
Most people know that Lyn was changed from 15-16 to 18-19 from the Japanese version to the English version. But what most people don't know is that Eliwood and Hector's ages remained the same. They are both 17 according to one of their Support conversations and it doesn't change in the English version IIRC. So in one continuity, Lyn is actually older than both of them.

I'd say Plant is the character you wish for if you want people to have meltdowns over a veteran returning, i dont think Steve will cause many meltdowns at all at this point.
Steve is way worse than Plant. I look on GameFAQs and people are still butt-hurt over his appearance in Smash. Heck, even on this site, somebody declared themselves no longer a fan of Smash and left the site after Steve was revealed.

I think Steve will be base game, Cloud through? 50/50 i could see him going eitherway base or DLC.

:ultinkling:not surprised, cool addition, confirmation of new Smash had me more excited
:ultridley: didnt think he'd make it but happy for his fans and made sense
:ultdaisy: actually a surprising pick but disappointed her and Peach werent differentiated more
:ultdarksamus:like Daisy disappointed they werent differentiated from Samus further
:ultsimon::ultrichter: had good times with this game so i was satisfied with the pick, surprised Richter made it in 3rd parties getting an echo
:ultchrom: cool echo he was one of those characters who i felt just missed the mark back in Smash 4 (much like Bomberman now)
:ultkrool:happy for his fans and made sense
:ultisabelle: no brainer happy for her fans
:ultken: my most wanted echo, as soon as Sakurai rebranded Echo Fighters Ken was the 1st character I thought of entering Smash
:ultincineroar:of the 3 starters i wanted Incineroar the most so i was pleased. I'll review Gen 7 to see if I wanted anyone else more. I was satisfied with Box Theory
:ultpiranha: lol wtf (also thought Sakurai hates Waluigi if Daisy and Piranha Plant could become playable before him lmao)
:ultjoker:surprise pick but great choice happy with the pick
:ulthero2:was more excited for Hero than Banjo so i was happy. IMO Hero is one of the most fun characters to play as and against so I hope he becomes a mainstay in Smash going forward.
:ultbanjokazooie: happy for his fans and cool to see a dream pick for many get in.
:ult_terry:one of my most wanted characters always gotta rep the fighting game genre. doubly stoked because Sakurai clearly likes Terry and a lot of Smash's gameplay was derived from FF/KOF. someone said Smash gameplay is a mix of Kirby, SF and KOF and i'd be inclined to agree.
:ultbyleth:i normally try not to get swept up in theories but IDK if anyone remembered that Dante was speculated around this time due to DMC coming to Switch and he's in my top 5 most wanted so i got caught up in the hype. Right before Sakurai released the trailer i thought ohnoitsnotDante. I was disappointed but Byleth, like Corrin, won me over to the point if FE got cuts in Smash I'd support Byleth and Corrin staying even over Ike and Roy (I know actual unpopular opinion)
:ultminmin knew it wasnt spring man based on the guessing game, started to kinda pull for Ninjara but I was neutral over Min Min.
:ultsteve: surprised he made it in, very inventive gameplay
:ultpyra::ultmythra:liked their gameplay fun characters.
:ultsephiroth:actual surprise and dope pick. i'll admit my mind immediately went to Chun-Li as a possible dark horse for FP2.
:ultkazuya:another great pick actually preferred him over Heihachi.
:ultsora:had fun with KH so i was satisfied he got in as the last pick.

Wait what's box theory?
Way way back in the day there was a special edition Smash Ultimate Switch that had every single character revealed up to that point on the box, with two blank spaces. People started theorizing that only two characters were left to be revealed, and according to leakers those characters would most likely be Ken and Incineroar.

I miss those times lol.
Hopefully, Smash 6 gives us a interesting pre-release period too.

Better late than never!

:ultpiranha:: Hahaha- WAIT! HE'S PLAYABLE!?!?

:ultjoker:: Cool. Does that mean we get Battle Hymn of the Soul?

:ulthero:: Great the leak was real.

:ultbanjokazooie:: YES! The leak was real!

:ult_terry:: That's neat. WAIT! Protonjon is doing a stream going through the history of SNK's games? Sign me up!

:ultbyleth:: Could you be anyone else?

:ultminmin: That's.. neat?

:ultsteve:: I feel nothing for this character. Wait, Twitter broke?

:ultsephiroth:: Thank you for fixing Final Fantasy's representation in Smash!

:ultpyra::ultmythra:: Not Rex, but still very happy to see you make the big leagues!

:ultkazuya:: This mean we get the Yodeling song, right?

:ultsora:: Fitting choice for the final character.

One thing I do like whenever characters are revealed for Smash, there are some people on YouTube who make videos about the characters in anticipation for their appearances in Smash. It's either a playthrough of their most popular game or a history about their series.

Hey, at least it made more sense than the Chair Theory...

To merge the theory reminiscing and new weapon talk, I want a repeat of chair theory but it actually results in a character reveal of either Kanji or Beowulf.

I still remember the old Ken/Pichu/Ivysaur/Pac-Man picture that started the meme of Ken thumbs up being a sign of a leak being true.

No that’d be a cowtapult
Charr Farmer confirmed?

In Guild Wars 2 there's a farmer who puts cows in a "Cowtipult" and launches them at a nearby watchtower. One of the guards got hit by one and is terrified about it happening again, while the other guard found it hilarious and loves his post because of it. Neither guard knows about the cowtipult. You can actually get in it yourself and it'll launch you on top of the tower so you can view the Vista there.

Well they gave Zelda an old school anime look so anythings possible. Would be cool.

I can't wait for Classic Adol specifically.

And also Classic Alm. Because of Reasons.

I swear that's just his armor please don't report my account-
One of my favorite Fire emblem designs is when they gave Modern Celica her outfit from the original version of her game in FE Heroes.

(I wish she was in smash but i get that including more FE would piss people off)

i had an interesting idea for topic while waiting to go to sleep: we all know the infamous to many swords logic but it did lead me to wonder are there any kind of weapons you'd like to see a fighter based on?

perhaps like me you're a fan of staff fighters and would like some like Kilik from SC. I know a few of you would say bombs and cite Bomberman. and probably at least one die hard Bean the Dynamite fan. and of course plenty of us want to see a certain spear wieldier in Bandana Dee. so if you have any ideas do share, perhaps you want more hammer users or see someone whose is completely axe or lance.
Okay lets go:

Spear:
Bandana Waddle dee and Ark (terranigma)

Flute?:
Will (illusion of gaia)

Dual Swords:
Videospiel-Man

Giant Two handed Sword:
Yunobo

Hammer:
King D Mind (Echo of dedede)

Dagger:
Sheik/ Impa

It’s time, everyone.
Now that I think about it, this video raised a point about a certain antagonist from Engage seeing others as means to an end. Which then made me think about how Smash fans only see Alear as an excuse to get rid of all of Fire Emblem's playable characters. After all, they're all Emblems in Engage, so why not demote them to being part of Alear's moveset and nothing else?

Do you guys think Adol from Ys is likely for next game?
Nihon Falcom has like 2 games I've heard of, Ys and Faxanadu. Of those I'm guessing Ys is the more expanded series and yet they're not really in the same running as other titles so it's unlikely to get a character, I'd wager.

nope. we’ve all gotten into a bad habit of overestimating characters chances

Well, maybe an Assist Trophy somehow.

Fun history time:
Nihon Falcom basically has two series. Ys, and Dragon Slayer. Ys is a pretty straightforward action RPG series.

But Dragon Slayer is a REALLY interesting series. It's a series of games where every "core" game in the series, is a COMPLETELY different type of game. And each of those games, spins off into their own subseries with sequels and remakes and whatnot.

So for example, Faxanadu, is actually the Famicom version of Dragon Slayer 2: Xanadu. So while, yes Ys is more expanded than Faxanadu, it's not more expanded than Dragon Slayer. Why? Because Dragon Slayer 6 was a little game called Legend of Heroes. A game that spun off into an entire subseries containing games like Trails in the Sky, Trails of Cold Steels, etc, which is currently Falcom's biggest series.

The entire Trails series is technically part of the Dragon Slayer franchise, which is the same franchise as Faxanadu.

So in conclusion that's why Estelle Bright should be in Smash. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

This talk about character reactions reminds me of Source Gaming's reaction to Piranha Plant, which is still one of my favorite Smash character reveal reaction videos of all time.

The confusion turning into hysterical laughter is so funny, this is one of my favorite videos ever. It's so good

Technically that’s a gardening tool not a weapon :4pacman:
Technically, so are all weapons commonly associated with ninjas. Doesn't matter much.

I think Engage is all the more reasons to keep the current cast around. Fire Emblem does everything it can to keep it's cast "relevant".
