On the Next Smash game, There are 2 things I want to mention about it
1ST: When it was discussed about the New Engine that will be used in the S Studio of Studio S/Studio 2, One thing I've seen being neglected (including by me) is that the Engine Development is heralded by Julian Mecron
Julian was the Director of the Fox Engine, which was used for a Few of Konami's games in the 2010's, most Notably Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain (and Ground Zeroes)
He joined Bandai Namco in 2015, and is said to be the CTO of this new engine, which is like the Technical lead. The Fox Engine was said to be Optimized Graphically for the time, and I could believe it as I played a Bit of MGSV myself.
So if it's true the Next Smash is using this New Engine, I think the game is going to be Really Optimized, and at the same time Push the Graphical limits.
2ND: When It was first announced that Studio 2/Studio S were being revealed to the Public by Bandai Namco, it also came with Job Listings for a "2D Action Game" and a "3D Action Game" with the 3D one being implicated to be a remastered.
Since this news came out in Late 2023, I know there's been people suggesting that is when Development is starting, or Planning is just now beginning on the games, but this actually isn't the First time we've seen a listing like this
This Listing came out April of 2022, which is a Full year and then some before we got wind of these Studio's Actual name. This is for the 3D Action game Remaster and not the 2D Action Game that's implied to be Smash, but to be honest, I think if this Remaster was being worked on at this time, It's likely the 2D Action game was also being worked around this time
If that's the case, This could mean that Smash 6 has been Developed in some form since Early-Mid 2022. Smash games are usually 2-3 year affairs. so 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025 release. By Developed, I mean the Concepts could have already been worked out and stuff would be planned
The one thing is that in the article about the Engine Development, it was said Development would actually start in about an year
Which probably means Full-Scale Development might not have been in the cards yet, which is what I suspected. 2023, 2024 would probably be the years Full Development could commence in that case.
